I have a question regarding fakepass. One of the apps I am using requires biometric authentication or passcode to be set.

however, when I start the app even with passcode it complains that no passcode has been set. any idea why fakepass does not pass as proper passcode? (is there something i could do?)

probably because fakepass is, as it says, a fake passcode

since SEP is fully disabled, it only emulates the passcode screen, and doesn't actually securely lock anything

most likely the app is able to recognize that the system does not actually have a passcode set and is complaining, so afaik there's no way around that other than just not jailbreaking

To block OTA updates, you can install a modified tvOS beta profile. This works even without a jailbreak. Note that the profile expires and will stop blocking updates on <t:1769770800:D> (<t:1769770800:R>).

You can re-enable updates by uninstalling this profile in Settings -> General -> Profiles & Device Management.

If you're jailbroken, you can also install the OTADisabler tweak instead, but note that it is harder to remove while unjailbroken.

So, before the jailbreak, can I tear down and restore the iPhone from an iTunes backup, and if so, can I restore it from an encrypted copy, or do I have to use an unencrypted copy? When an iOS version is unsigned, that means you can no longer downgrade, nor upgrade, nor re-restore to that version. If you are currently on that version, nothing changes for you. This does not mean you can jailbreak that version, nor does this mean a jailbreak is coming soon for that version.

With that being said, futurerestore allows you to downgrade/upgrade/re-restore to unsigned versions, but you must meet certain requirements in order to use it. For more information, see /tag canidowngrade and /tag futurerestore.

Also, note that you can upgrade (not downgrade) to unsigned versions up to 90 days after the succeeding version has been released, if your device meets certain requirements. For more information on these requirements, see /tag otadelay.
