I've gotten to see the palera1n splash screen a couple of times but shortly after that the phone reboots as normal without the new app showing up. If you’re on AMD/Ryzen, you may be encountering a few issues when using checkra1n or palera1n. This can vary between freezes and straight up crashes. It’s because of AMD’s weird drivers that cause it not to work that well with checkra1n’s/palera1n's exploit. If you’re lucky you can actually successfully manage to jailbreak using checkra1n/palera1n.

Tips to increase successrate:

• Plug your device into your computer's motherboard.
• Use a genuine Apple USB-A to lighting cable.

If you’re stuck on the apple logo please force reboot yourself (see: /tag reboot).

If these don’t work, try to get your hands on another computer (preferably intel), and try to use checkra1n again.

Use ventoy instead of rufus/balenaetcher if you were using either, make sure you're using the correct arch and the latest palen1x iso (x86_64 is the one you should use for most pcs, if that doesn't work try x86), after you install ventoy drag and drop the palen1x iso to the partition named "Ventoy" (not VTOYEFI), make sure you have secure boot disabled, boot from the usb, then select the palen1x iso and press enter, after that use your arrow keys to select grub2 mode instead of normal mode (a guy was having a problem with normal mode yesterday and grub2 mode fixed it) and from there you should be able to jailbreak.

rootless

Rootless means you cannot write to the root filesystem, only leaving /var and /private/preboot being writable. Semi-untethered jailbreaks such as Fugu15/Dopamine must be rootless while semi-tethered jailbreaks can simulate a rootful installation by creating a clone of the existing root filesystem. Current semi-tethered jailbreaks such as palera1n have the option to be rootless anyway.

What does this mean for the average user?
Tweaks would need to be updated to support iOS 15, check if the tweak you’re installing works on 15. Not all tweaks will work out of the box for iOS 15.

Yes, tweak compatibility for older tweaks may be better than rootless, but many older tweaks can be patched in various ways to work with a rootless setup.

• Connect the device to a Mac/PC and open Finder/iTunes.
• On the prompt that says "A device has been connected in recovery mode and needs to be restored" press "Restore iPhone" then "Restore and Update.”

if DFU restoring also doesn't help then it's most likely some sort of hardware related issue as DFU restoring wipes all the firmware files stored on the ipad and replaces them, also you would be sacrificing your version since you can only restore to signed version

also if you have data on it you can make an icloud backup and restore it after doing the dfu restore

If your device is on iOS 16.7+, it is not vulnerable to the CoreTrust exploit that TrollStore depends on for persistence. However, if you are on a jailbroken checkm8 device, TrollStore can be installed by using the ‘TrollStore Helper' from Havoc which will serve the basic function of installing IPA files, but it's limited to only working whilst in a jailbroken state (meaning if you reboot TrollStore and its apps won’t work until you rejailbreak)

To revert the jailbreak installation on your device, follow the steps below.

I can’t get my 8 into dfu when using palera1n, I’ve gotten it a few times but it just throws a bunch of errors. Since restarting usbmuxd (oops) it’s only gone into dfu mode once and still wouldn’t work

I had gotten pongo os too boot once, but it hung. I assumed it was since I forgot to stop/start the usbmuxd

This is with sudo, I figured out my dfu issue

Oh it just went.. guess I should just have some patience

Future tip, reboot after installing palera1n. It’s the only change I made once I got dfu figured out
