One work around for people having the USB other issue after Booting PONGO OS . . .
I've found on 5 different iPhone 6s devices that this has a better success rate than using palen1x's interface then what's documented.

This requires using the linux terminal within palen1x by going to main menu. Hitting the number 3 for Shell and typing the following commands (the terminal will look like below).

• Make sure you're already in DFU mode. If you're not then it may fail 3/5 times.

systemctl stop usbmuxd
usbmuxd -f -p
palera1n

If there's an error (frozen at pongo os with colored checkra1n logo) or you do not see palera1n app on boot:

CTRL + C
exit

Re-do the following steps.

Virtual machines won’t ever work unless you are using a QVM setup with a real dedicated gpu, that is not used due to iommu issues with the PCI bus lanes and since it’s sandboxed and in a virtual environment the host USB ports will not be accessible except to read. Write won’t work as it cannot match the hosts Iommu lanes of memory as it is restricted to guest only. (Vm)

Hello I managed to jailbreak and install palera1n on iphone 7 ios 15.7 via usb key
I installed in rootless, I'm on windows.

I wanted to install crane but it did not want to start loading, I paid, I clicked on "get" but no download launched (I'm on Sileo)

So I started the jailbreak again, and it doesn't work anymore.

I tried reinstalling the USB key, resetting the phone, testing all possible options, but I couldn't get the jailbreak to work again.

How to Jailbreak manually

Rootless means you cannot write to the root filesystem, only leaving /var and /private/preboot being writable. Semi-untethered jailbreaks such as Fugu15/Dopamine must be rootless while semi-tethered jailbreaks can simulate a rootful installation by creating a clone of the existing root filesystem. Current semi-tethered jailbreaks such as palera1n have the option to be rootless anyway.

What does this mean for the average user?
Tweaks would need to be updated to support iOS 15, check if the tweak you’re installing works on 15. Not all tweaks will work out of the box for iOS 15.

I was running legacy palera1n from January to September until one night I left my phone to charge overnight. I woke up and saw it was on the restore screen. I had no prior issues with tweaks, random resprings or crashes, nothing.
I rejailbroke it (using legacy palera1n), and it was stuck in the verbose boot. I tried several times, same thing. What was even more confusing was when it was in the unjailbroken state, it had the palera1n app, sileo, and zebra from my jailbreak. They didn’t open of course, but I had no way to get rid of them. I let the phone be for a few days. After which I tried jailbreaking it with 2.0.0. It worked. The sileo and zebra icons finally went away now, but the old palera1n app icon stayed along with the new one. When I hit install sileo, the task completed, but the app never showed up. Tried this several times, and with zebra as well. I tried jailbreaking it with legacy palera1n again, it gave me an error in terminal. Then jailbroke it again with 2.0.0, same thing, not sileo nor zebra install.

I remember you guiding me when I was stuck in verbose boot back in September.

• what’s the actual log of what happens when you install Sileo/Zebra

If you’re on AMD/Ryzen, you may be encountering a few issues when using checkra1n or palera1n. This can vary between freezes and straight up crashes. It’s because of AMD’s weird drivers that cause it not to work that well with checkra1n’s/palera1n's exploit. If you’re lucky you can actually successfully manage to jailbreak using checkra1n/palera1n.

Tips to increase successrate:

• Plug your device into your computer's motherboard.
• Use a genuine Apple USB-A to lighting cable.

If you’re stuck on the apple logo please force reboot yourself (see: /tag reboot).

If these don’t work, try to get your hands on another computer (preferably intel), and try to use checkra1n again.
