It’s because of AMD’s weird drivers that cause it not to work that well with checkra1n’s/palera1n's exploit. If you’re lucky you can actually successfully manage to jailbreak using checkra1n/palera1n.

Tips to increase successrate:

• Plug your device into your computer's motherboard.
• Use a genuine Apple USB-A to lighting cable.

If you’re stuck on the apple logo please force reboot yourself (see: /tag reboot).

If these don’t work, try to get your hands on another computer (preferably intel), and try to use checkra1n again.

Rootless means you cannot write to the root filesystem, only leaving /var and /private/preboot being writable. Semi-untethered jailbreaks such as Fugu15/Dopamine must be rootless while semi-tethered jailbreaks can simulate a rootful installation by creating a clone of the existing root filesystem. Current semi-tethered jailbreaks such as palera1n have the option to be rootless anyway.

What does this mean for the average user?
Tweaks would need to be updated to support iOS 15, check if the tweak you’re installing works on 15. Not all tweaks will work out of the box for iOS 15.

I have an old iphone 6s plus on 15.7.8. I want to jailbreak using palera1n but I’m having great difficulty in putting my device in DFU mode. I am using an M1 macbook and a usb-A to lightning using a usb-C to A adapter. Even if I try running DFU mode (plugged in) before running palera1n, I can’t enter DFU mode. Turn off device while plugged in, press sleep/wake button for 3 sec, then include pressing the home button for 10 sec, and then releasing the sleep/wake button. The device just reboots.

Rootless means you cannot write to the root filesystem, only leaving /var and /private/preboot being writable. Semi-untethered jailbreaks such as Fugu15/Dopamine must be rootless while semi-tethered jailbreaks can simulate a rootful installation by creating a clone of the existing root filesystem. Current semi-tethered jailbreaks such as palera1n have the option to be rootless anyway.

What does this mean for the average user?
Tweaks would need to be updated to support iOS 15, check if the tweak you’re installing works on 15. Not all tweaks will work out of the box for iOS 15.
