Yesterday I installed palen1x using Ventoy onto a usb stick per the instructions. However once it booted and I selected palera1n per the instructions. The instructions stopped making sense and the options they were refering to did not appear on the screen. I selected on different reboots different options but it alway jsut dropped me to a GRUB screen and a command prompt.

Rootless means you cannot write to the root filesystem, only leaving /var and /private/preboot being writable. Semi-untethered jailbreaks such as Fugu15/Dopamine must be rootless while semi-tethered jailbreaks can simulate a rootful installation by creating a clone of the existing root filesystem. Current semi-tethered jailbreaks such as palera1n have the option to be rootless anyway.

What does this mean for the average user?
Tweaks would need to be updated to support iOS 15, check if the tweak you’re installing works on 15. Not all tweaks will work out of the box for iOS 15.

Logging in as root is no longer supported. Nor is it recommended. Instead you can use the mobile user and run commands with sudo which will run them as root. You should have set your sudo password when jailbreak for the first time.
Sudo is a better practice than root login.

Trying to use rootful on my iPad Air 2 15.7.5, and while I can get palera1n working I’m not able to access or reinstall Sileo - giving me error code 2. I can try palera1n-c itself without palen1x, but I’d have to get my old laptop out and reinstall linux on it to do that. I have an AMD CPU and while palen1x works very consistently (for rootless that is), palera1n itself more often than not won’t be able to get past the heuristic step. I am using a USB-A to lightning cable and I am using a laptop with an Intel CPU. I am also using Linux Mint Cinnamon if that helps

I tried it with Palen1x and it worked fine. I'm assuming my issue was due to USB drivers.

then the battery died, when it opens it goes directly to the recovery mode -> iphone/restore screen
