I just dont know much about the rootless jb an if i really wanna go with it, i mistakenly installed it and sileo installed on the phone without a problem but my sources wont load in sileo, not sure if it was because of the rootless

The simplest explanation of rootless is this - you cannot read/write to the root file system. Due to this many tweaks aren't compatible as the file directory is completely different and will need to be updated in order to support rootless. Sileo will only display tweaks which have been updated to support - this should explain why your repos won't load.

Semi-untethered jailbreaks such as Fugu15/Dopamine must be rootless while semi-tethered jailbreaks can simulate a rootful installation by creating a clone of the existing root filesystem. Current semi-tethered jailbreaks such as palera1n have the option to be rootless anyway.

What does this mean for the average user?
Tweaks would need to be updated to support iOS 15, check if the tweak you’re installing works on 15. Not all tweaks will work out of the box for iOS 15.

XinaA15 is currently an exception as it has a compatibility layer for non-rootless tweaks. Some tweaks need to be updated specifically for this jailbreak.

Rootless means you cannot write to the root filesystem, only leaving /var and /private/preboot being writable. Semi-untethered jailbreaks such as Fugu15/Dopamine must be rootless while semi-tethered jailbreaks can simulate a rootful installation by creating a clone of the existing root filesystem. Current semi-tethered jailbreaks such as palera1n have the option to be rootless anyway.

What does this mean for the average user?
Tweaks would need to be updated to support iOS 15, check if the tweak you’re installing works on 15. Not all tweaks will work out of the box for iOS 15.

XinaA15 is currently an exception as it has a compatibility layer for non-rootless tweaks. Some tweaks need to be updated specifically for this jailbreak.

If you do need rootful palera1n, however, you can use palera1n beta 5 and wait for the team to fix the issues in the next beta, though beta 5 does not support iOS 16.4 or newer

I noticed the first time around (successful), as soon as DFU was recognized, the script immediately said 'disconnected', but it still installed the JB. The next 100 failed attempts, it does the same thing, saying DFU disconnected, but gets past Bongo, then stalls at 'booting.'

tbh i have not tried libhooker myself on palera1n, last time i tried with ellekit ipc stuff like cephei/rocketbootstrap didn't work properly (maybe it was fixed, i need to test again) but aside from that ellekit is the best/cleanest imo

rootful and rootless have the same general caveats (semi-tethered, can't have real passcode on a11) but rootless writes jailbreak files to /var/jb which saves storage on ios 15+ as it doesn't have to copy the whole rootfs
