Hi all. Needing some assistance with troubleshooting. New to jailbreaking (as in my first time was yesterday). I followed the instructions on https://ios.cfw.guide/installing-palera1n/#running-palera1n-1 and it seemed to work as instructed, but I haven't been able to complete the last step "Once the device boots up, open the palera1n loader app and tap Install." I don't see a palera1n app on my iPad, but I can't really retry the process because there's definitely something taking up a "palera1n amount of data" on my iPad.

Details:

• iPad 12.9 (1st generation) ← I believe that means it's A9X
• iOS 16.3
• Originally had 10+ GB of space free
• Running macOS Monterey on a MBP 13", 2016 model
• I am using a USB-C/Lightning connector (but I didn't have problems getting into DFU mode — or at least terminal didn't note anything)
• I downloaded "palera1n-macos-universal" to my Downloads folder, so that's where I "cd" in terminal (oh and if someone here manages that page ... please add instructions for what/how to "cd" ... it took me a fair amount of googling to figure out what "cd" meant and how to "cd" to my downloads directory — simple in hindsight, very difficult for the "tech illiterate")
• I used "palera1n -c -f" as my argument

If you need any further details or information, I'm 100% happy to provide that. Also happy to hop on a call or whatever (I'll definitely pay for the time) if it would be easier to troubleshoot live.
For those that are going to suggest "just restore and try again" ... unfortunately, that would defeat the purpose of me jailbreaking — TLDR: there's an app "Albie" (the best reddit image browser IMHO) I've been carry over from iDevice to iDevice for years (shockingly still functional despite having been coded 9y ago). It's no longer in the app store and so I need to get the .ipa off my iPad so I can port it to my iPhone (and store it for future use).

Appreciate any help y'all lovely people can offer. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I'm installing palera1n-c (v2.0.0-beta4) on my iPad Pro 2nd gen (A10X) using my Macbook Air M1 and before I accidentally unplugged while it was setting up fakefs. Now I don't know if that broke anything at all, so I figured I'd try just redoing it from scratch, but even when I run palera1n --force-revert, let it reboot, then run palera1n -c -f I get the error message on the iPad

cannot create fakefs over an existing one without palerain_option_setup_rootful_forced.

What is the proper way to completely clean-slate the installation?
(Nothing is set up on the device yet so anything is game)

You should remove jailbreaks by doing a restore rootfs, which can be accomplished with palera1n-c using --force-revert -f (so you didn't have to wipe the phone)

It likely didn't damage anything to reset the phone, but you should still use that command to make sure it's fully removed

I've been trying to do a rootful jailbreak my ip 6s plus with palera1n for the past two weeks and everything goes well up until the exiting and re-starting part.
When I exit and re-install the jailbreak, after less than 5 seconds it all stops and doesnt move.
It pauses halfway through typing a word but everytime I restart my phone and do the whole thing again, it ends on a different word everytime.
I can tell its not frozen because it responds to me unplugging and replugging my phone.
I have no clue how to fix this and no one on google does either.
If anyone has had the same situation happen or know any way to fix this that would be appreciated.

So I tried again, this time selecting the restoreFS option, and while the app did appear, I got an error and could not install it from the app loader.

Then, I tried a third time (choosing the bindfs setting again) but I just got the same problem as the first time.

They both seem to get stuck at different parts and I'm pretty sure I've never even made it to that second time. It will say it's finished and/or the phone just boots to the home screen

Booting to the home screen means first part is successful. It's normal behavior for it to finish creating fakefs/bindfs and then boot to iOS unjailbroken

If the fakefs/bindfs is already created, it'll jailbreak

If you reverted palera1n (restore rootfs) ever, that undid everything, so you'd need to start over
