there's an uiduid command apparently, it returns some 40 character hex string... if I run that on my iPhone it returns something that actually looks like an UDID and only 25 chars

I think you're a little biased @torn spade 😛 jk, but I have no issues at all and I'm super happy with 12.4 currently, I just don't want any issues with Kodi or reprovision as its a bit of a hassle to resign with xcode

a couple of things @torn spade, you need a GPG key, your repo is constantly asking for authentication. Another, is the updates.. even after applying essential updates, there's still updates popping up.

Been awhile... just heard about uncoverTV for 13.5, sounds exciting. I got a couple of 4's and a few 4K's all on 12.4 and running sweet. Hope the uncover team works out the bootloop bug for the 4k, I am anxious to get 13 installed and finally Arcade.

I used to get the block updates thing every time i opened up NitoTV as well (like the legacy settings popup) but after I installed a beta profile it went away

yeah I would click on the red button to update but then nothing would happen. I used to get a ton of errors updating things after the GPG key thing where nothing would install

yeah i understand. I think it's a little unlikely that 12.4 becomes out of date though to the point where apps stop working

I know back in the day iPhones would get apps that stopped working for them because of their firmware version so that's what I'm concerned of, but I don't see that happening for a few years for 12.4

Nitotv confirmed that he’ll set up a PO box next week to fix any that got bricked, and I’ll add a checkra1n option to do it

The way I did it to find the bug and verify I could fix it with checkra1n was not exactly a change I can push 😬 it was if ( 1 || <existing code> ) heh

my understanding of porting would be building something for a target platform, so I think what you'd end up with by porting to tvOS would be a tvOS app 🤔

FYI: just validated with lilstevie that you can boot one that was bootlooped with the bug via checkrain and add the boot arg launchd_missing_exec_no_panic=1 then ssh in and run /bin/chmod a+x /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileSoftwareUpdate.framework/Support/softwareupdated to fix the bootloop too

@analog elk Some troubleshooting tips:

Most TV's have a dedicated HDMI-out port for CEC control.
Make sure to check your TV settings, you may have some CEC options.
You could try another HDMI cable, one that is approved for CEC.
Finally, check for any firmware updates for your TV itself.

Some TVs just don't work well with these features. I had an Apple TV connected to a Toshiba supposed to do the same thing using their technology called ARC. Never worked properly no matter what I tried. Eventually changed TVs then it worked.
