Futurerestore utilises the latest available SEP(Secure Enclave Processor) firmware, in this case it's for iOS 15. And the firmware is partially incompatible with iOS 14
Partially incompatible in this case meaning faceid will break, but the restore process still manages to proceed
If you upgrade back to iOS 15 it will become functional again however

The instructions on Github say to use python2, which is no longer supported.

I tried with python3 and couldn't do it.
The screen stops at "booting" and then stops working.

I was thinking of using futurerestore gui to get onto the latest 14.x release for my devices and then checkra1n to jailbreak.
I have the required blobs.
* iPhone 6S on iOS 14.8
* iPad Air 2 (WiFi Only) on ipadOS 14.8
* AppleTV 4(HD) on tvOS 14.7
- Is there any reason I might want to update to OS versions other than the ones I'm planning on?

Make sure to enter DFU mode while the device is booting with the button combination
Otherwise it'll automatically reboot after 60 seconds if you enter DFU mode with checkra1n or just start the combination while the phone is actually booted
If you see any glimpse of the Home Screen when you're doing the combination you need to shut down your device get it to the apple logo and try again
