You can update (not downgrade) to unsigned iOS versions without blobs for up to 90 days by supervising your device and downloading the appropriate profile from https://dhinakg.github.io/delayed-otas.

On jailbroken devices, you can install SupervisedEnabler. If unjailbroken, you'll have to use Apple Configurator 2 or iMazing.

Note: This won't work if you futurerestored with a SEP that's newer than the version you're trying to go to.

What's a blob?

It is a file containing a special key specifically for that one device to allow downgrading to a specific firmware.
They're like golden tickets, but instead a digital signature made by Apple that was saved at the time when the signing window was open. If you possess one (or many), keep them safe.

How do they work?

They can be used in a program called futurerestore to restore to a firmware in which the SEP/Baseband is compatible. To check SEP/Baseband compatibility, check /tag sepbb.

Make sure to not use misleading sites.

Regardless of SEP/Baseband compatibility, any/all blobs should be saved for future downgrading abilities.

Can I save them now?
Of course. Blobs can be saved at any time, but it is crucial to save them when Apple releases new firmware, because they can only be saved for versions that are currently signed.There is one exception to this: if you are jailbroken and Apple has unsigned the version you're currently on, you may save onboard blobs for that version.

Hello, when i try to futurerestore my iphone 11 pro to ios 14.5.1 using the latest SEP and BB option I get this error:

weird issue, it seems like the restore process has been completed though i force cancelled it in my terminal and gave the --exit-recovery command. After my own research it seems like this is a message only iphone 11/12 users can receive and The device wants the software(idevicerestore/futurerestore) to connect to it and download a cpio archive, but the device doesn't need a reply. I'm glad it didn't force me to update and fully restore my device but i think this issue should be handled

You can do this already but ios 14+ requires an sep pwn which you likely won’t get until checkra1n is updated to support iOS 15

Before futurerestoring is restoring rootfs to a un-jb state enough for a clean upgrade or one should wipe the device completely?

If the latter how to do it cleanly, since Succession seems to not support all ios 13 versions to the same degree, "restore" from within Settings?

I'm on 13.3, a12x and intend to upgrade to one of the late 14.x versions, supported by Fugu14, have blobs for every single ios 14 version.

It means that the windows build of futurerestore is out of date and pretty much a brick but for software

How to enter DFU mode

For how to restore in DFU mode, see /tag dfurestore

dfurestore

DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) mode is a mode which allows a device in any condition to be restored to a fresh version of iOS (not to be confused with Recovery Mode). You cannot keep data when restoring via DFU and you can only restore to a signed version.

To restore via DFU:

Enter DFU Mode
Once you enter DFU, the device should show a black screen.
Connect the device to a Mac/PC and open Finder/iTunes.
On the prompt that says "A device has been connected in recovery mode and needs to be restored" press "Restore iPhone" then "Restore and Update.”

Recovery Mode (not to be confused with DFU Mode) is a mode which allows a device to be reflashed to a fresh install of iOS. You can optionally either keep your data and update to a newer version or restore and start over with a fresh install.

To restore in Recovery Mode:

Enter Recovery Mode
Connect your device to your PC/Mac and open iTunes/Finder
A prompt should appear which says “A device has been connected in recovery mode.” Either select “Restore” or “Update”

NOTE: If you use this method you can only restore/updated to a signed version of iOS.

You can update (not downgrade) to unsigned iOS versions without blobs for up to 90 days by supervising your device and downloading the appropriate profile from https://dhinakg.github.io/delayed-otas.

On jailbroken devices, you can install SupervisedEnabler. If unjailbroken, you'll have to use Apple Configurator 2 or iMazing.

Note: This won't work if you futurerestored with a SEP that's newer than the version you're trying to go to.
