you can get a bootable linux usb
Will do this when I'm done restoring to 14.4
hope it works ok for you
you can use linux no problem
ok cheers @zealous bridge
make sure its ubuntu tho
well u can always checkra1n
stupid downside yh ik
Hello can any one help with a tutorial for future restore, I am using iphone 11 on 13.6 jailbroken and I have saved blobs for 14.3
check pins
but if its confimed to work on a11 you can just checkra1n and set nonce then retry
boot into https://ubuntu.com/ this right? soz for the questions as im very new to this
Ubuntu is the modern, open source operating system on Linux for the enterprise server, desktop, cloud, and IoT.
yes
Download Ubuntu desktop, Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu for Raspberry Pi and IoT devices, Ubuntu Core and all the Ubuntu flavours. Ubuntu is an open-source software platform that runs everywhere from the PC to the server and the cloud.
iso download
then use https://rufus.ie to flash to usb
Rufus is a small application that creates bootable USB drives, which can then be used to install or run Microsoft Windows, Linux or DOS. In just a few minutes, and with very few clicks, Rufus can help you run a new Operating System on your computer...
very simple
gonna be honest with ya idk what code to write to compile is there any messages or tutorial that tells me what i should do as this is the first time im doing it and dont wanna fk it up the first time?
A14 FUTURERESTORES CONFIRMED WORKING
(A14 futurerestores are successful too, for when A14 can be jailbroken. Thanks @23Aaron_ for testing!)
@trim cargo POG A13 works with fr
You can call futurerestores successfully revived
and A14
Lol
pins
get the script from the ubuntu part
then replace step 1 on the macos part and everything else is the same
@shy magnet So the SEP/BB is compatible...
that's what I thought (didn't make sense that only a11 wasn't)
oh yeah adams landing that bounty
can i have the link to capt's compile tutorial?
and do i get the lts version of ubuntu or 20.10
thanks ick
Just make sure to replace the script
i’m gonna use that tutorial here in a bit to setup FR
lol preparing already
Anyone in my case just 2 things left for him
1 - futurerestore on windows
2 - jailbreak release
And after that i can rest in peace 🙏🏼
no
It’s only compatible with 14.3 any lower and the sep panic FDR still happens
And after that i can rest in peace
you say that now; then when iOS 15 pops up and you can't jailbreak or use FR... then you beg
future restore on windows will never happen again
Why
Lol
because tihmstar doesn’t want to work on it
and adam doesn’t want to work on windows
FTR: FR certainly can happen for windows.. it's just finicky
Whats so hard abt using a bootable linux usb
and like only 3 people know how to compile it for windows
and 1 of them isn’t with us
I assume so, but can someone please confirm the pinned tut from 1/15 is valid for use with the static complied, a13 (11pro max), mac, 13.5 to 14.3
Can't run this, since openssl is a dependency for TONS of shit
Yes it is
Ur gonna have to remove everything
And start from scratch
I can't, ubuntu-desktop will be removed.
ok
Okay i will use linux
just do sudo apt remove openssl-dev
Updated the pinned post.
press tab twice after “sudo apt remove openssl” and send a screenshot of terminal
Dont press enter
Remove that then
Done, then follow the rest?
what else is there
just do this
i'll do that in a sec but this is everything related to openssl (except for the first one since now thats removed)
Doing the tab twice did nothing but i imagine the above is what you are looking for
yeah
if openssl is the only one left then yeah thats what it would do
you may carry on with the thing i gave you before
Now all things become clear a11-14 now support
Need a video tutorial on fully futurerestore on bootable Linux
Like what iMAT done before
So it’s true if I fuck up on a13 once, I’m fucked?
no
you dont need a video tutorial
its really simple
I'm guessing I still need to compile myself on ubuntu? I just tried the linux compile script but it doesn't seem to work
Download Ubuntu desktop, Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu for Raspberry Pi and IoT devices, Ubuntu Core and all the Ubuntu flavours. Ubuntu is an open-source software platform that runs everywhere from the PC to the server and the cloud.
download iso
as someone who is in the middle of compiling, yes u do
Rufus is a small application that creates bootable USB drives, which can then be used to install or run Microsoft Windows, Linux or DOS. In just a few minutes, and with very few clicks, Rufus can help you run a new Operating System on your computer...
program to flash iso to usb
then just use your motherboards boot menu to boot from the usb
Yeah i know it
Cool, heard I only had one shot but maybe I misunderstood
well im on ubuntu server 20.04.2 it's supposed to work right?
wdym it doesnt work
whats the error
I'm not using server so im unsure
i saw some errors during the script and sudo futurerestore says command not found
thats... not helpful
what were the errors
ctrl+shift+f would be your friend if you dont want to sift thru all of that
sudo apt install cython-dev cython3-dev
ty
libidevice or whatever the hell its called says its "optional" on the docs but its really not
on linux it isnt
they were probably referring to mac
yeahhh
there is a compiled version for macos right? i have a vm maybe i should just use that?
would make life easier
just make sure usb passthrough works properly
yep i set it up when checkra1n didnt have a linux version so its ok
you checkra1ned via vm?
yep
andd thats literally impossible
Look at the pins...
so ur bullshitting me rn
usb passthru is very possible via VM
checkra1n needs low level access to the usb ports which VMs are physically unable to provide
@zealous bridge Iam talking about the commands and guide step ny step until finishing futurerestore
¯_(ツ)_/¯
it is, but checkra1n isnt as simple as just passing thru the usb device
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUybSs9vN70 i followed this guide i think
Notice: There is now an official release of checkra1n for linux! This method is outdated!
New guide: https://youtu.be/AS9JS8PuDw0
#Linux #Checkra1n #Tutorial #macOS #QEMU
Complete PCI USB controller passthrough how to guide. This tutorial will explain and demonstrate how to get a working macOS virtual machine with fully working host USB. For ...
if checkra1n was possible via a vm then why do people complain about a windows version
because you have to use linux for the vm
i just thought i could use my server ubuntu but itll probably just be easier to use the mac vm
OpenSSL is recompiled and reinstalled, do I recompile futurerestore?
u used qemu...
ok
U wouldnt call that a “VM” but yh i see where you got mixed up
use that then
qemu is very reliable
yes sir
well i mean im not sure you need to but better safe than sorry
Which branch, I used develop my first time.
alright ty, not so familiar with virtualization so
havent tested both so i don’t know if theres any difference...
just use the ones that have been tested
you are cloning from marijuanARM right
i dont exactly know which ones are tested
im cloning from their repo yea
they have master and they have develop
master’s the one that has been tested im pretty sure
Oh yup
git clone recursive
The old master was v191 and the dev was 192. With the fixes and tests for A13 the v192 is now the master.
hm
👍 Thanks
I never compiled libfragmentzip from source, I used precompiled
Those got autoremoved when removing openssl im pretty sure
libcurl i dont remember what i did
dependencies
well there hasnt been any problems with using precompiled
only openssl
so
you can use apt
Do you happen to know the package ids?
would be in the script lemme check it
should just be *-dev
wait hold on
you have to do libfragmentzip from source
however what about this?
you’re going to have to compile from source
fun
hold on
I need libcurl to compile libfragmentzip so that shall come first
libcurl4-openssl-dev
Thats what I had installed before
wow fuck this thing is confusing
because libcurl4 only comes with openssl
but it only comes with the precompiled openssl
What about gnutls or nss
gnutls was an alternative option in some cases for certain things
you can give that a shot but im pretty sure it womt work
idk what nss is tho
wont
then i wont bother
GNU is just what Linux is based on
yeah i know
Lts = long time support
libcurl isnt just curl no
actually
try gnults
people have said that gnults and openssl conflict
which means they might get detected as the same thing by futurerestore
so
try it
If this doesnt work then ya might have to pop open a qemu of macos
Never done that before, but I'm worried it wont work since I don't have a dedicated graphics card
hm
well for futurerestore a normal virtualbox vm should be fine
Doesnt need low-level access just basic virtual passthrough
ive used a windows 7 vm before and it worked alright
Alright fingers crossed
About to run futurerestore -t blob.shsh2 -s sep.im4p -m BuildManifest.plist -b baseband.bbfw -p BuildManifest.plist -d target.ipsw
For baseband I chose the one that was compatible according to the Wiki if that makes sense
from the 14.4 ipsw right
Mhm
the one that would be “latest.ipsw”
You know what I'm going to do it again just to be sure
ah ok
zen@zen-Ubuntu:~/restore$ futurerestore -t blob.shsh2 -s sep.im4p -m BuildManifest.plist -b baseband.bbfw -p BuildManifest.plist -d target.ipsw
futurerestore: error while loading shared libraries: libfragmentzip.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory```
Ran it as root
and it just
didnt ask me for anything
no output
so im going to assume thats good
no output is definitely not good
ffs
its a sys binary, it shouldve been untouched and be fine
OK running it as verbose
i get output
it looks intended
where can i get updated about futurerestore
so ik when the a13 13.5 -> 14.2 is possible
theres no difference
@zealous bridge does that mean im kinda screwed? i have 14.1, 14.2, and 14.4 blobs
if it cant find a path it means it doesnt exist
very screwed

very
Uh oh i didnt see green
why did you miss out 14.3
sometimes you have to enter recovery then do it
because i didnt follow jailbreak for like a month
Same error as before
i was thinking of upgrading my phone, do the a14 iphones come with 14.3?
FDR yeah
thats a pain. is a 14.4 jailbreak a possibility?
after the ios 14.3 jailbreak there were hints of a 14.5 exploit
so
maybe thats ur best bet
So just wait for now on 13
@gusty iris i think you’re the first person to try it on linux
i am?
im def fine with waiting, ios 14 jailbreak isnt as big as 13 yet
ur gonna have to crack open a mac vm
It could be something with the way I compiled everything
Or incorrect SEP/baseband
i didnt use a compilation script

iPhone XR 13.5 future restore guide?
I suppose you mean to go to 14.3... right?
Yes
pinned messages
K thx
or try everything again using the script instead this time
👍
thx
@gusty iris im wondering now maybe
the issue was diagnosed as an openssl issue
but what if its libssl instead
I just used the script
If my generator is messed up will it error out early on?
Or do I have to restore again via iTunes
Oh cool
kk
libssl is part of openssl lol
there isnt a ubuntu guide
@violet lotus what device and what version are you downgrading from again
wtf is canary
Nope, FDR error again.
did discord change their cdn again
ohh
yes it is
beta is PTB
never heard of it
ios 13.5 to 14.3 a13
take a look at that script for linux
There is...?
two seperate dependencies
you cant remove the default openssl in linux though
This is different from before tho.
Sending NORData now...
Done sending NORData
ERROR: Unable to receive message from FDR 0x563a571b14d0 (-2). 0/2 bytes

free(): invalid pointer
Aborted
wow someone needs to update futurerestore for linux then
adam just announce that it work with a13
can someone just pin that then
linux restores just dont work
lot of people are in the process of doing that lol
No linux FR?
I don't want to entirely brush this off as linux dont work, I think it still could be my fault.
it makes sense tho
Wasn't there an earlier attempt today using Linux though?
I could be wrong
well if you can link it
mac users installed openssl from brew
which they can remove and uninstall by will
linux users have openssl installed as a base package
which you can’t touch
so you have no access over it even if it is outdated asf
but then there’s a possibility that the error isnt even the same one than on Mac
oh maybe not
basically if you dont use a mac for futurerestore just forget it
Word, word. My mistake.
It's just I still can't actually restore.
I just remembered seeing Linux earlier today prior to you trying it, and thought that someone had done it
due to FDR error
maybe its not to do with versions
maybe precompiled openssl is just fucked
hey can you check your openssl version
@gusty iris
hate to be that annoying blobs guy, but if my blob has a different generator than 0x11111111111111111, do it set it to the blob’s generator using dimentio?
And openssl 3.0 im guessing is the latest
alright thank you batchomatic man i will attempt later tonight
no, 1.1.1 is the latest stable
https://github.com/openssl/openssl.git is 1.1.1?
then fuck its not that
manually compiling didnt work
fuck this likely isnt even the same problem
openssl master is separate from the latest stable release of openssl
Well at this point I am willing to try almost anything as long as I don't brick.
you can’t brick
unless there’s hardware damage
or you do some crazy shit with the baseband
Worst case scenario I have to live without a JB for a while on 14.4
Sucks but I have my phone still
is your linux dualbooted?
I don't want to ping Adam, but should I ask them for help/info on this for linux?
Yup
I have a Windows install
i was gonna say if you were doing it off a bootable usb just wipe the linux install and try again fresh
There is 0 data on my linux install thats important to me
we could compile openssl from master into a static binary
then replace it with the one that linux already has
im not sure it would do much
Can I ask why you're so confident this is an issue with OpenSSL?
no
but like you said its different
as I said
master is separate from stable release
which could cause issues of its own
but the one everyones been using to fix this issue has been master hasnt it?
where are you getting that info?
one sec
Also why is this OpenSSL's fault???
that’s from over a month ago
I don’t think it’s an openssl issue
Well since I have the device and setup, I will
Let me try a fresh Linux install
Since the first time around I compiled everything by hand
Let's just say I'm not well versed in compilation
this time just compile everything using the script then compile openssl from source too just to make sure
since we know that definitely changed something
I'm just going to use the script
how do you know openssl from source change something
^
the error changed didnt it
you did it twice before
same error
even then
The fdr issue has always existed
Compiled properly or not
how do you know it didn’t make it worse
because both times the restores were unsuccessful?
how is one failed restore worse than another
I’m talking about the errors not the restore itself
oh the errors
If I’m going to 14.3 on a12 do I need to manually specify a sep and baseband
I would recommend to specify SEP and baseband
theres no way of knowing that it didnt make things worse of course - but without compiling it the same error we got twice - once we touched it the error changed - what route do you go down then
you know one paths a dead end
14.4 is the latest so it doesn’t matter
the other part is as well but couldve been a compilation error
I really don’t think it has anything to do with openssl
Well we’ll know for sure after this
The differences between the brew openssl version and the Ubuntu one are minimal
then we’re just back to square one
that begs the question then doesnt it
why does it work on mac but not on linux
there are a million reasons why that could be the case
if you’re going to compile openssl from source at least compile the 1.1.1 stable branch
well i’m just going off of whats been tested already
wait
are the people on Mac even using openssl
because you can use commoncrypto as well
basically
what mac people had to do
was uninstall openssl via brew
and then clone this exact directory https://github.com/openssl/openssl.git
then just autogen and make
dont think commoncrypto was the issue here
In that case yeah it would be worth trying on linux
?
is text?
The otool command displays specified parts of object files or
libraries.
Confused
Does any one have an updated tutorial on how to go from 13.5 to 14.3 r1? I have my blobs saved.
is linux working or not for fr?
nope
not working yet
Oh
Futurerestore isnt working on Linux
im not sure what you mean by “is linux working”
right now until we find a fix for linux your only chance is with mac
ahh okie
Well it might
I still think
theres a chance
im reinstalling Ubuntu
i did not think i was going to spend my whole day on this tho
oh well
ping me when ur done @gusty iris
kk
if i get could not place device in restore mode, is it an invalid nonce problem
No it’s normal. Just run it again when ur device is in recovery mode
Use nvram and it won’t or dimentio and it will stay the same
i forgot bout this stuff
wait dimentio sets it permanent?
No it just sets it in nvram
@storm apex Xa max
what is this
Xs
It’s compiling Fr on Linux
XS Max
I havent actually started the reinstallation process so I'll try that I suppose
that is literally
I can do the compile but it’s dynamic to its useles
actually im going to nuke my ubuntu install first
will it
So nothing changed with the new future restore version @storm apex ?
Good to go
guy who was giving us compiling tips
It works the same
compilings not the problem
Like it functions the same
we get fdr errors middle of restore
Ok thanks
am i supposed to use sudo
Is your blob valid?
it should be lol
Yea that is odd man
dont you get an error
I’ve only had that with an invalid blob
no
No it’s just 14.3. :/ you can try to sudo?
ok wtf
Or if you have checkra1n open it could do that
wouldn't it say my blob is invalid if it wasn't
yeah it would
and i know it's the right ECID
whats the problem anyway
it dont go into restore mode?
maybe its an issue with usbmuxd
are you running a vm
it's ICE17 i think
My 10,4 is ice 17
ICE
You can loook in setting general modem firmware and tell by the #
iPhone X (GSM)(d221ap) - 18D52
SEPOS: Firmware/all_flash/sep-firmware.d221.RELEASE.im4p
BBFW: Firmware/ICE17-4.02.01.Release.bbfw
IPSW download link
Good luck
are you using a vm @celest basalt
no
yes
gonna try compiling again
this time with working openssl
it's always that restore enter error
@sharp latch i see you’re the first one who mentioned that the FDR error came from an openssl issue on this server, would you mind telling me where you got it from / how you figured it out
might be libusbmuxd error
yea
check system logs
i'm recompiling it too
my openssl wasn't linked
luckily this computer is quite fast to compile
Yea that caused huge issues for me
Hi what’s do I use to set my generator on iPhone X? Checkra1n does not allow as NV ram is locked
[[dimentio]]
usage: dimentio [[generator]]
move
What bullshit you guys on about this time
who
big sad
Will test when I get home
I think I know what the issue is
maybe
its not openssl
It’s idevicerestore
nothing is working for me rn
dk why it would fail at FDR then
lol
never works
never works
yea i tried 3 times
Hmm
Don’t reboot
i'll see
Just run from recovery
same
Use 187
alr
It’s guaranteed working
gotta link? I've been using 192
187 is which commit
what was the command to use to maybe get back into phone after restore failed?
Why do you guys not read the usage before using a tool
futurerestore —exit-recovery
––
it joins em together
I’m on mobile too
i read the tutorial, i guess i didnt know about usage
—
Use long press
Every tool in the history of tools has usage info or a manual... @celest basalt
Not a tutorial related thing
straight up didnt know
my bad
i downloaded your static. must be on the github ill check there
@zealous bridge about to try
usage info is just futurerestore ––help
[1] 7938 segmentation fault futurerestore -t shsh.shsh2 --latest-sep --latest-baseband ipsw.ipsw
tfw i get segfaults without sudo
aaaaa
ah the good old segfault
🤞
why is nothing ever fucking working
well we got Cryptic saying the error might be an idevicerestore error
i could do it fine before
FDR again, different error now
That was quick
It consistently does not turn green which is frustrating
You sure its bootlooping
yes im sure
It won’t turn green
ah ok
Only lcd devices will turn green
Sending NORData now...
Done sending NORData
ERROR: Unable to receive message from FDR 0x55d8741227f0 (-2). 0/2 bytes

double free or corruption (out)
Aborted
What Mac
Ubuntu
is latest idevicerestore fine too
Doubt it
Livebooting for now
Latest is what broke fdr
What is latest?
How many times is FDR gonna break
Like what specifically

i can't even get the exit recovery to word. i'm in above my head by all good! was a fun attempt
work
hard reset
how is fdr even breaking if he's dead

@celest basalt just use imazing
@heady yew I made that joke a couple days ago
lmao
Fdr is broken on a specific idevicerestore commit an onwards
L
that's weird
an inconsistent problem
dont think futurerestore will ever be “totally fixed”
we just need someone to leak purplerestore
what is that?
apple’s hidden program for vips so that they can use whatever ios version they want
ohhh
Wouldnt it at least tell us how its done
thanks dog
it would be useless
it uses an alternate signing server
that's only accessible through their vpn
well if its useless its no different than futurerestore
Damn, so am I just screwed?
mac vm
The guide should be taken down then for Ubuntu
bc if people follow it they will fail and then loose their JB
@storm apex you should edit your message and remove that
something like that needs to be pinned
can someone link futurerestore 187?
Tan would you be able to guide me thru a mac VM setup? If not I understand, its not your job
yeah thats the only ones i could find
well i’ve only ever done one before
but it was successful
i can try my best tho
Er should I wait in order to try to provide testing material for Adam
Ohh thank you
depends if you’re willing to wait that long
idk about you but dont look like most of them care about linux
or maybe its just broken beyond repair
probably wrong of me to just blame them
but yh its up to you
MacOS is logically the easiest to support so I dont blame them
I got this error too. MacBook Pro 2011 13
I did a fuck up?
@zealous bridge i followed your openssl instructions & still got the fdr errors
Well you lost your jailbreak
then futurerestore is fucked on levels
Me? I’m still on 13.5 after the fail
Huh
what
your device boots?
wait do i need the SEP manifest and BB manifest as well as the sep firmware and baseband firmware for 14.4 to downgrade to 14.3
waiy
my device boots fyi
yeah
both of you have used wrong sep/bb
Word? What was the right one?
alone in my troubles
used --latest
latest doesnt work on futurerestore istg
every time i use it fucks something up
manually specify from ios 14.4
/sepbb on telegram bot
telegram bot?
hmm i'll try manually specifying & call it a night
Yeah I did that
Ok I wasn’t sure if target or not
nope latest
clearly says it on the tutorial
latest
latest
latest
latest
all four
I see that section now, below tutorial
It the latest is the highest number, I used that one anyways
linux tutorial
idk it's not disconnecting
uhhhh
latest ubuntu version compiled fine for me
does it work tho
can people stop saying “it compiles fine”
we know it does
its the restore that always fails
futurerestore allows you to upgrade/downgrade/restore to unsigned iOS versions if you meet certain requirements
[Tutorial](#futurerestore-help message)
their argument was that its misleading to the people that see the message and go, oh it works on linux!
when it doesnt
remove the “de” from “debug” and theres ur answer
specified sep & bb but still this
bootloop?
@junior fiber ran into the same thing. try again and it'll continue
oh wait, misread 🤷♀️
why is the ubuntu one removed? did the a13 support commit break stuff? earlier someone on twitter restored successfully on a11 with futurerestore 191 on Ubuntu
Link please?
compiled using my script
idevicerestore’s latest commit has broken a few things
maybe i should let the script revert it then
its all FDR errors
someone got about 3 different ones
initially we thought it was an openssl issue like it was on mac
after compiling it manually nothing changed
got a different error tho but still fdr
Anyone tried it on A13?
yes its confirmed working
Is there tutorial for how to use it
Check pins
Thanks
191 you say
192 was the one they used
maybe its a version error
well not error
yeah the one eith the a13 fix
no
@night harbor I'm the one that is finding it not working
Sorry in advance if this is somehow my fault
I hope it is anyways
i dont think its their script thats the problem
most probably its the a13 commit
maybe if you use v191 instead of 192
ur on A11
so
if it works we’ll know for sure
Well I am willing to try anything
ill see what i can do
ok idiotic question but 13.5 -> 14.3RC is possible right?
yea
gotcha, thank you 🙂

yh
didn't use --latest
its a common issue
it's commit de444ce
i just did manual twice
cool i’ll check it out
Adam marked it macOS only
got it
that single commit is for the readme update
its always been “macOS only”
o
no not really
not what i meant
the precompiled ones yeah
when he initially looked for testers he looked for macOS only
obv ik its easier on macOS
but that proves in a way that macOS is always gonna be more reliable than linux
ofc, as macOS is one, and Linux is many branches and versions. Linux is more accessible though for non-Mac users, this is what I aim for
surprisingly
no-one’s reported an issue yet
on github
theres been like 5 people already on this channel alone
well i’m grateful for that
I guess sure
at least someones trying
linux doesnt work
linux version is... going thru a rough patch rn
try avoid it if you can
well acc
just dont use it
for now
What’s wrong with it right now?
^
issue is still being diagnosed
Ah
Thank god I went here before I did it
someone should really make a pinned message
^
i did it before hold on
Until it’s fixed
on mac too?
FYI, it seems like running the updated version of futurerestore on Linux doesn’t work right now, due to the FDR error that is still being diagnosed. So until there is a fix you should refrain from using Linux to futurerestore and try a macOS VM instead.
pin that please if you dont mind
vm works?
