the exploits used with semi-untethers for 12.3.x and 12.4.1-12.5.5 aren't exactly the best exploits for legacy devices (1GB of RAM devices specifically)

You‘re iPhone 8, which is A11. A11 currently cannot be jailbroken with checkra1n without disabling SEP features (passcode, touch ID, apple pay…) so either you keep SEP but no jailbreak, or you jailbreak but you can‘t have SEP
This is due to a new security layer in iOS 14 where SEPROM checks whether your phone is jailbroken and will cause kernel panic if you enable SEP while jailbroken, leading to a reboot that‘ll kick checkra1n as it‘s semi-tethered

Here’s the actual truth. Siguza came out on the discord (there’s a recent screenshot floating around) and said that they’re going to switch to a bind mount system. In noob terms, which isn’t completely accurate, they’re essentially going to create an entirely custom rootfs that doesn’t touch the original. It’s not “rootless” and it’s basically a copy/paste, but it will act as a normal jailbreak. You still have access to / sort of, it just acts as a bridge between the actual root directory that Apple so kindly locked up even more. (Which I can guarantee you Apple will patch around in iOS 16) Don’t believe me? Look it up. Or you can go here and read about what it is. Honestly the way he actually described it is fucking genius and something I didn’t consider. I get that a lot of people don’t care if a jailbreak is rootless but I find it incredibly ridiculous to take the lazy way out and go to rootless when the whole spirit of jailbreaking is about having freedom and access to your device. So props to the checkra1n team for going there. Also, to the commenters below, stop spreading shit when you don’t know what you’re talking about.

I don't think you realize, bind mounts is fakeroot, so you don't get real root access, still defeating the original point of jb to get root access. Also I don't think you realize, only checkra1n can do fakeroot. On device jbs are forced to go rootless now they don't have a choice. So don't be rude about other jbs about going rootless when they don't have a choice but too.

Anyway, your problem lies not with checkra1n but with your disk. As the alert says, it's write-protected meaning you can't write onto it. Find a way to change that then you're good, it's usually just a setting, and you can change it in console/shell/terminal whatever you call it as well
