yeah I spent an hour literally trying to jailbreak with my usb-c cable, and I was to the point of believing I couldn't jailbreak with checkra1n then I simply used a usb-c to usb adapter with another cable and first try it worked. Must be the same sort of issue they have with checkra1n on windows,

Hi guys . I have a little problem and I need help please. . I just tried to jailbreak my iphone 6splus in version 14.1 on window. I did everything as it should. I returned to bios mode with the USB keys with the program on it, I chose it, then I entered, username, password, and sudo checkra1n to finish. checkra1n launches no problem. until then you're fine. I therefore go to option to select the line (allow untested ios .......) so that my version is jailbreakable. (unstable version I know, at my own risk) so I go into dfu mode, the jailbreak how. on my phone it also works, and on the computer the loading bar before, and when it was written (booting ...). an error is displayed. usb error (error code 76). I restarted the manipulation several times, and always the same result. so I don't have the checkra1n or cydia app on my phone and it restarts. Can you help me please ? that would be very nice.

So… my phone will not jb with checkra1n anymore.
I‘ve done so three consecutively successful times since the first time mid-dec last year, so just a month ago, and yesterday evening after un-jailbreaking through a reboot earlier in the day and being too lazy to re-jb at first, it just stopped working. I connected it to my pc (ubuntu 20.04), ran checkra1n as root as always, hit allow untested versions as I‘m on 14.6, and did the jailbreak all the way. Recovery mode, DFU mode, jailbreak. It boosts up with that jailbreak bootscreen with all the debugging and stuff, and then just gets stuck there. Progress bar on pc stays a bit before done, my phone stays on the screen. I waited at least ten times as long as usually. Then had half a heart attack when force reboot didn‘t work, but then disconnected the phone from pc and it worked.
So, it boots up, I start to jailbreak again - after DFU mode, it went to the progress bar and quickly said USB Error (Code -77). Thing is, I searched up that code only after I tried a third time. This time a whole nother problem: my phone simply would not enter DFU mode. Neither from recovery nor from normal mode. Just wouldn‘t. And I assume still won‘t.

I could try again with a usb 2.0 port and disabled passcode as that seems to have worked for others, but what use if my phone doesn‘t even enter DFU mode?
