Sometimes when I used a USB port on my laptop, it would get recognized but as soon as I put it into DFU mode it wasn't recognized anymore, even though it was plugged in. I had the same problem with a laptop. It would become unrecognized during the process. Is your phone in DFU mode already when you start Rufus & Etcher
I think laptops have built in power protection on their ports somewhere. And that disconnects the phone since it isnt like a wattage higher than 5watts
How I bypassed my laptop was by plugging a USB-C hub with a USB-A plug right into my Type-C port. It also had a usb-c input so i can plug in my usb c cable into an outlet on the wall, then run it into my USB-C hub so I make sure it does not turn off at all or get unrecognized. It worked when I had a powered USB Hub

you may want to just try Ubuntu latest version. It's the most popular so I would only assume that the architecture and checkra1n may work best, but that is just a thought
I personally have not attempted via Linux, so I am sorry, I can't give the best input, but I went through the same struggles and it can literally be like I said as simple as the cable you are using. So any minute detail may cause it to not work... unfortunately, and I don't even understand myself because I have bioprotect and it allows my FaceID to still work for opening apps, yet I can't set a fricken passcode..? It's really strange

did you try another linux distro? you could try using the odysseyra1n iso, i use that and it’s worked everytime, on an acer laptop
also when it gets stuck do you just unplug it or something? everytime i jailbreak i get a usbmux error and my phone gets stuck on that screen but after like 1-5 mins it boots and i can close the computer/unplug my phone and it’s working fine

There is no jailbreak for A8X - A11 devices (iPhone 6S - iPhone 8/X) on 14.4+ without a computer (see: !jb checkra1n).

It seems that there is a way to have a passcode but it can easily be bypassed with a reboot, the tweak is called lockdown and can be installed using sileo and you have to pay the dev through patreaon to access the discord channel and dl the tweak ..

Sorry for this ignorant question.. but how come on 14.8 a passcode and FaceID can’t be set? Because whilst I can’t set a passcode to protect my phone. [[BioProtect XS (iOS 12/13/14)]] still used my FaceID and works completely fine for all apps. I have no FaceID set, yet the bioprotect was able to store my FaceID and work on 14.8..

I noticed a different issue, I cannot access my revolut account coz it says that the device must have a password enable, wich is not really possible with checkrain
I’ve already tried liberty an a-bypass, none of them worked, should I try uninstalling and installing it again ?
I saw post on reddit saying to wipe data using apps manager, tried it, didn’t work neither
I hope that Uncover will be compatible with 14.8 / i8+ soon..

for future reference if at all anyone has trouble with usbmux or errors regarding your iphone getting stuck here (see picture) on checkra1n 0.12.4 with an a11 device on 14.8 this is how you fix it: sudo checkra1n —force-revert then re-jailbrake.

hm not sure about that but my issue seemed to be resolved by running boot arg -v -h
it would boot but without the app loaded
I think it was technically jailbroken state but not sure
anyhow fortunately I got my whole tweak setup loaded from 14.4 and it's all good now

-h disables loading substrate I think that's what fixed it for me
