hi guys i just got iphone 5s for free and i would like to get root. this is the first apple device i have owned. Unfortunately I believe I may be affected by "known issue" "A7 devices will currently not work with the Linux version" here https://checkra.in. I have tried a few versions and settings, including https://assets.checkra.in/downloads/linux/cli/x86_64/dac9968939ea6e6bfbdedeb41d7e2579c4711dc2c5083f91dced66ca397dc51d/checkra1n as root with all default settings on 2 distros each both on 2 amd64 PCs, and for everything I see this

thanks for the idea, i do have a MacOS virtual machine but according to this https://github.com/kholia/OSX-KVM/blob/master/notes.md and this https://www.linux-kvm.org/page/WindowsGuestDrivers/Download_Drivers to access USB device from MacOS virtual machine I need a CPU with iommu, unfortunately the PC where I have this VM does not have iommu CPU, but I do have another PC that does and i use its iommu for something else, I will try installing another MacOS virtual machine on that system and see if it helps with the error.

@hollow arch thanks I tried more methods including odysseyn1x these 2 versions https://github.com/raspberryenvoie/odysseyn1x/releases/tag/v2.12-checkra1n-0.10.1 and https://github.com/raspberryenvoie/odysseyn1x/releases/tag/v2.14 and i have noticed a pattern, whenever I use the newest version of checkra1n, I see the error code: -31, but whenever I use a older version of checkra1n that does not have "A7 devices are currently known to not work with the Linux version" in its changelog such as 10.1, 10.2 or 11, I see "Right before trigger (this is the real bug setup)" for a long time and it does not change the longest i waited was 30 minutes. also in the latter case, in my kernel log I see a lot of spam https://pastebin.com/raw/mHWHpfaK and checkra1n process completely freezes eventually and if i close it i have to use # kill -9 <PID>. this is stdout of checkra1n 10.2 in verbose mode https://pastebin.com/raw/L8aaSM1Y. also odysseyn1x is configured to log when a process freezes and also runs checkra1n in a tty so something funny happen when checkra1n freezes on the odysseyn1x v2.12-checkra1n-0.10.1 , it looks like this 😸

unfortunately if you created a bootable USB flash drive correctly that works on other UEFI PCs this does mean that your laptop has a non standard compliant UEFI implementation which is probably unusable. however you can try changing this setting Legacy Support to Enabled and trying again, but you would need to make sure your flash drive has MBR correctly formatted. For me with odysseyra1n this is true, however it depends on exactly how you flashed the drive

Guys, i hv some troble in here, i installed auto touch tweaks, and my phone get lagging on the first time, then it reboot my device, and when i was jailbreak again on my imac always done, but my phone always stuck on root screen and reboot again, everytime, so anyone can help me?

Put the safe mode before the reboot

and delete the tweak from cydia

The problem is, i cant open cydia, and i cant jailbreak again bcz the device stuck and self reboot, so the checkrain never show in my phone screen, when in the mac it say the jailbreak is done

1. enable airplane mode 2. open chimera, wait 30 to 60 seconds 3. tap jailbreak 4. when it gets to step 1/3, wait a few seconds, then tap the little arrow icon at the bottom 5. when it gets to step 2/3, wait a few seconds, then tap the little arrow icon at the bottom 6. your device will (hopefully) reboot into jailbroken state
2. just wait 60s and make it cold is the proper one and for some screen sizes they have a little arrow pulltab button at the bottom, if you press that at 1/3, then press it again at 2/3, it tends to do really well with success rate, at least from my experience also helps to combine that with the waiting 60s and maybe the cold

• Once you enter DFU, the device should show a black screen.
• Connect the device to a Mac/PC and open Finder/iTunes.
• On the prompt that says "A device has been connected in recovery mode and needs to be restored" press "Restore iPhone" then "Restore and Update.”

1. Restore rootfs if you are jailbroken
2. Jailbreak with checkra1n
   2a) Do NOT install Cydia from the checkra1n app, if you want it install "Cydia Installer" in Sileo
3. Press quit in checkra1n then run "odysseyra1n" on your pc inside odysseyn1x, or run this Shortcut on your device
4. Update everything in sileo
5. Install libhooker
6. You're done, have fun.

I'm not sure why your talking about piracy considering appstore++ is a legitimate way of downloading previous versions of apps, like discord since any group with NSFW channels can't be accessed on iOS (not sure if this has changed, but I still haven't updated mine after all this time) since a previous update or things like YouTube compatibility for various PiP tweaks. Plus I'm 99% sure appstore++ can't install any apps illegally since it only obtains things from the app store

But I'm pretty sure he's talking about altstore for signing apps, which doesn't help with checkra1n nor odesseyra1n since the jailbreak requires a computer to jailbreak, unlike taurine and unc0ver
