They both have the same exploits & vulnerabilities, so it’s really a decision with the 17’s longer app support + new 17 features against the potential battery issue. I’ve done research and it seems like the main factor to the battery issue is the fact that after the update to 17, the iPhone has to reindex everything for the 17’s faster spotlight searching. This is done in the days after the update, not during the update itself, so I’m pretty sure for a couple days after the update to iOS 17 the battery might drain fairly quickly because the iPhones reindexing a lot of things, but when it’s done the battery life should be back to normal (or even better. There’s a lot of people who said that they’re battery life got WAY better after the update to iOS 17).
