DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) mode is a mode which allows a device in any condition to be restored to a fresh version of iOS (not to be confused with Recovery Mode). This can also be used to jailbreak using checkra1n!

Hello ive used checkra1n to jailbreak ios 12.5.6, you need checkra1n version 0.12.4 from this link(its from youtuber imjusttech) https://mega.nz/file/XdxUGD5I#M2NhQQyVb2SBFdDxVY7xF5gjhfeJi5sjK-zMgGs3UBw while in the checkra1n menu enable safe mode and untested ios. And while youll be in procces "right before trigger" wait 13-15 sec, then unplug, after 5 sec plug iphone back in and iphone will boot. Enter passcode while still pluged to computer and stay in homescreen for 10 sec, after unplug and plug lighting cable back to your iphone. The checkra1n icon should appear. Times can be different for eachother, but ive been working on it for last 3days. (and use newest rufus for maing usb linux) sorry if something im saying doesnt make any scence im new in this comunity.

Hello, I recently had my screen replaced on my iPhone X (14.7.1). I restored rootfs using checkra1n before the screen replacement. Afterward, I erased all contents & settings because I was unable to rejailbreak. I just restored from a back-up, & was seemingly* able to rejailbreak (no checkra1n homescreen icon, but I got Cydia). But now I cannot install anything via Cydia (even essential packages because of DPKG_LOCKED). Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

*I say "seemingly" because there is no checkra1n homescreen icon, & the mac app reports a device connected in "normal mode" (rather than jailbroken). But I can open Cydia, Zebra, & I even have Filza. I cannot edit the DPKG lock files in Filza, though, I don't have the permissions.

but as for your issue basically your only options are either:

• get a Mac
• use checkra1n 0.10.1 and then once you get to right before trigger you’ll need to unplug and replug

But all of the other installation instructions I see for Sileo involve installing Cydia first, which this page (or any subsequent page) doesn't explain.

Hey. Could someone help me. I have a problem with checkra1n. I jailbroke successfully (iOS 14.8.1) and then the checkra1n app didn’t show up so I was gonna rejailbreak. Hard restarted my phone and then tried rejailbreaking just told get “ERROR CODE: -92” I think it’s worth mentioning that when I jailbroke the first time and it didn’t show the app, I was curious as to what would happen if I tried to set a password while having SEP disabled due to the jailbreak. Phone crashed. Regardless, I can’t find anything on the internet about error code -92. I really need help because i would like to jailbreak.

If you're unable to restore rootfs the normal way, you can do it from a terminal (e.g. NewTerm or SSH).

If your device terminal prompts you a password, its gonna be alpine
