Okay so I got bored and thought I'd figure this out now. Just to recap, it connects to WinSCP now but won't take my password. I double checked my password in NewTerm to make sure I'm not mistyping it and it gives me su access so I know my password is correct.

Out of curiosity, I tried resetting the password back to alpine by editing the master.passwd file in /private/etc/, tried connecting via WinSCP and it let me in.

After that, went back to NewTerm, set a different password, then tried WinSCP, again, access denied. For a final test, I changed the password to alpine via NewTerm instead of through the master.passwd file, tried that in WinSCP, and boom access denied. So, it seems that NewTerm is maybe setting the password a little differently than how WinSCP does. It's bizarre.

I did try setting nonce on an old iPad Pro 10.5 that I had laying around. Couldn’t get gaster to work for me. So I rejailbroke it and set nonce that way. Then I got FR to take me to 15.3. So, now I at least have a better idea of the process since I walked through it.

Right now that XS is sitting on 15.2 anyway and so it’s just a waiting game.

and I'm not even gonna try checkn1x cause every time I get on the screen where it says "we are going to put this device on dfu mode we will show you the steps to do it when you press next" and I press next checkra1n crashes

So im gonna download another version of it and see if that works
