i'm going through the ios.cfw.guide for updating to 14.8. I'm on 13.5 and jailbroken with uncover. I've installed mybloxx and my device is supervised(seen in settings). i successfully installed the 14.8 profile on the site on my device, and in general it shows as installed. but when i click on software update to get the 14.8 update, settings hangs indefinitely. i'm on a gigabit connection, and downloading stuff from apple in the past has been very fast... any hints on what the problem is?

i've also made sure the 'disable ota' is not enabled with uncover, and rejailbroke after doing so

Alright, I was gifted an iPad 3 that's running iOS 7.1.2 on it, the latest update available is of course iOS 9.3.5. I kind of wanted to not update the device though because later updates lag devices like these out. There's an issue though with the device, apparently it belonged to some school sometime ago, obviously inventory cleaning was done. It's stuck behind an MDM lock, which I did bypass, but I have no idea how to remove that profile configuration from the device itself, I'm stuck with the "this device is supervised by this school" message in settings. Any reliable tricks to get this nuked from the system?

So I asked the person that gifted me this where it came from (I know this person, they never even went to the school listed on the device, let alone lives anywhere near it). They said they had gotten the device from the eWaste facility (no idea where that is, but I would assume multiple facilities exist in some places). I do know what eWaste is given they deal with electronics, so apparently it wasn't stolen, at least not from eWaste or from the person that gifted this to me. I really need help - I just updated my OS from 13.5 to 14.8, followed the guide that was on here - tried restoring tweaks via IAmLazy, and after 5 hours nothing had happened. I rebooted my phone and have tried to restore RootFS on Unc0ver 8.0.2 - and it fails every time saying an error occurred - no error shows on the log and it either crashes or restarts the phone. I cannot even jailbreak the phone as that also produces an error due to a DPKG error. I do not want to wipe my phone and start again, as everything on here has taken years to set up - and syncing it and restoring it is also not preferable. I have also tried reinstalling Cydia, reinstalling SSH, refreshing icons etc and nothing helps.

Supervision is basically just a plist modification, but basically it’s a thing schools and enterprises use

It’s why delay OTA requires supervision practically speaking - it’s a thing for enterprise users and mainly only enterprise users (under normal circumstances)

It's advised you don't use Batchomatic or IAmLazy as they can cause issues which can in rare cases require you to restore to the latest iOS. Export your tweak and repo lists with Sileo or Zebra, save them to your notes app and install the tweaks you want manually. It will save you from a potential headache.

I fixed it. One of the tweaks were causing the cydia crash on launch. I found that tweak using iCleaner, disable/enabling few tweaks and then respring to see which tweak is the problem.

Yeah I get that but I still need to work on my navigation since in jailbroken mode no matter where I’m going or what I’m doing it struggles getting my exact location and giving exact direction minute but minute
