In the future, you should consider saving blobs every time a new iOS version is released. blobs let you trick your phone into downgrading or upgrading to an unsigned iOS version, provided you can find a way to set your phone's nonce first (usually requiring some kind of exploit).

Since you have an iPhone 8, you should be able to use blobs even without a jailbreak. So make sure you save them whenever a new iOS version comes out so you can always restore to that version if a jailbreak is released.

No. Blobs are specific to the device ECID, version from, version to, and a "nonce" (a random number set once whenever you go to restore your iPhone -- numberonce), (and probably other values, i'm not the most versed on this)

There are exploits that let you set the nonce, so as long as those other factors stay the same, your phone lets you use the blobs

Your phone sends this info to apple, and apple signs it with a private key, and then your phone reads the signed value and ensures that it's valid

No. The intricacies of how it works mathematically/cryptographically are beyond me, but a blob isn't just those numbers in a list. Apple combines all of this information with a key only they know, and then sends it back. If you want to change the blob, you'd need apple's key

Yeah, depending on the version you go to. Your phone has a seperate processor from the main CPU called the SEP (Secure Enclave Processor). It manages stuff like the wallet, face ID, and touch ID. Since it's supposed to be secure, it's kept seperate from the main CPU. This is a problem for us. Remember how we have to set the nonce to the right value before we can use blobs? The SEP has its own firmware, so we need to downgrade or upgrade it, but it also has its own nonce, and since it's seperate, we can't set it. That means that we can't downgrade or upgrade the SEP to an unsigned version.

Luckily, the SEP firmware is often backwards/forwards compatible a few versions

What does this mean? If you downgrade/upgrade too far, you'll lose those SEP functions (face/touch ID, apple pay (not sure about the last one)

you can check if this will happen prior to actually restoring tho

And you will have to reset your phone to downgrade/upgrade with blobs

but provided you don't downgrade or upgrade too far for the SEP, you should still have full functionalitty

You should probably stay on Beta 3 regardless.

Unless you have a compelling reason to upgrade, you should probably just save blobs and wait.

I've updated iTunes and iCloud, signed in to everything, uninstalled Altserver on my PC, reinstalled Altserver to my PC. Deleted Altstore from iPhone. I've performed reboots on PC and iPhone between every step. I never had any issues getting Altserver to install Altstore onto my iPhone, with the only exception being the update bug they had last night.

No matter what I do, Altstore on my iPhone won't open. It immediately closes every time, on my iPhone.
