What's a blob?

It is a file containing a special key specifically for that one device to allow downgrading to a specific firmware.
They're like golden tickets, but instead a digital signature made by Apple that was saved at the time when the signing window was open. If you possess one (or many), keep them safe.

How do they work?

They can be used in a program called futurerestore to restore to a firmware in which the SEP/Baseband is compatible. To check SEP/Baseband compatibility, check !t sepbb.

Make sure to not use misleading sites.

Regardless of SEP/BaseBand compatibility, any/all blobs should be saved for future downgrading abilities.

Can I save them now?

Of course. Blobs can be saved at any time, but it is crucial to save them when Apple releases new firmware. see !t blobs to see how to save blobs
If Apple has unsigned the version for which you're trying to save, then you may also save onboard blobs as well.

Unable to check for update. An error occurred while checking for a software update.
Method 1 (easiest): Install OTAEnabler.

Method 2: Open unc0ver, tap the gear icon, turn OFF "Disable OTA updates", tap Done, tap the Jailbreak button.

If you're still having issues make sure you didn't disable the OTA daemon in iCleaner and you don't have the tvOS/watchOS beta profile. If you are still having issues, you may need to DFU restore.

and you could use a profile that made it not allowed to have screen time on, and it would shut it off without passcode

What's a blob?

It is a file containing a special key specifically for that one device to allow downgrading to a specific firmware.
They're like golden tickets, but instead a digital signature made by Apple that was saved at the time when the signing window was open. If you possess one (or many), keep them safe.

How do they work?

They can be used in a program called futurerestore to restore to a firmware in which the SEP/Baseband is compatible. To check SEP/Baseband compatibility, check !t sepbb.

Make sure to not use misleading sites.

Regardless of SEP/Baseband compatibility, any/all blobs should be saved for future downgrading abilities.

Can I save them now?

Of course. Blobs can be saved at any time, but it is crucial to save them when Apple releases new firmware, because they can only be saved for versions that are currently signed.
There is one exception to this: if you are jailbroken and Apple has unsigned the version you're currently on, you may save onboard blobs for that version.

Hi, I was having problems with turning off vnodebypass, when I'd try to press disable, it would give me error and I'd need to reboot and then rejailbreak to turn it off, but then it would randomly turn on again after some time.

I rebooted my phone and now I cant rejailbreak at all. I starts and gets stuck at 20/31 or 27/31 or 30/31 etc, says jailbreak complete, resprings and its in the same unjailbroken state. Same thing happens when I try to restore rootFS. I tried to disable loading tweaks and other various settings in unc0ver. Also updated unc0ver to latest 6.2 . Im running iphone 8plus on ios 13.3. Safe mode was is only enabled until you reboot. Me asking you to enable it was only so checkra1n could jailbreak. Others have reported it helps them get success. I didnt at the time know you were using an adapter so using safe mode may be useless. You could try doing it with or without it at this point. The success will be low due to the adapter afaik.

How to use blobs

[[shshd]] is preinstalled on Chimera, Odyssey(ra1n) and Taurine which will automatically save your blobs weekly. Run sudo shshd in a terminal (such as NewTerm 2) to manually save your blobs and get a download link.

This should only be used as a last resort, since it's no longer maintained. Usually you can restore rootfs and then erase all contents and settings to achieve the same effect.
