MTAlarmManager has a method called -(id)removeAlarm:(id). it also has a alarms list which you can store and call the function and pass as the argument

I actually reckon I know why, and you're going to scream when you realise
I think on like iOS 8 it would spawn a background MobileSMS, in addition to the "real" MobileSMS
it's almost like how Mail used to be special and had permission to run in the background forever, also restarting when flicked out of the switcher
but worse because somehow instead of just the one Mail process that constructs and tears down the UI to conserve memory, it was another whole MobileSMS process because ??? I never figured out why
additionally RemoteMessages I believe it was called had a binary whose bundle id was com.apple.MobileSMS… ugh yes, really
I had to check for it in TypeStatus and avoid %initing in there because it wasn't like real MobileSMS at all, no ChatKit
