Okay so my advice for someone getting into programming as a hobby would be to 1. figure out what you wanna learn programming for, then 2. choose 1 language to learn based on what you want to do, and stick to it for a good amount of time. It will take a while, but once you have the basics down, I would cycle back and figure out what makes programming fun to you. To me it was making projects about literally whatever that interested me. Then just find a way that lets you use it that you enjoy then you have gained a skill. Also this isn't mutually exclusive, if you find you learn best by doing programming projects, use that as your way to master the fundamentals!
But there's almost infinite applications of this skill, it will really be specific to you
You could enjoy making programs, modding games, modding your phone, making automation scripts, automating anything in your life
it's really up to you
