Set your output to 1920x1080 or 1280x720, set your FPS at 30. I personally don't see the benefit of 60 fps if it's gonna put so much more load on your machine (for reaction streams)

Not the cutscene i mispoke. Its the game sound. At the 27:20 mark, it starts repeating. You can pause the game, close the game, whatever, but the sounds keep repeating.

That's not normal. It plays on normally silent load screens. You can restart the game, start up a new game, it still plays. Restart, OBS, still plays. Restarting the computer seems to help temporararily.

Things can change, even if we aren't aware of them. Try using the capture card for awhile in the Elgato software, see if it happens in there. As long as it might take to happen in OBS

the crash is being caused by advanced scene switcher, so to solve it, you need to uninstall advanced scene switcher

to do that:

1. open finder
2. press command-shift-G and paste in the following and hit enter: ~/Library/Application Support/obs-studio/plugins

Got OBS running and was able to route sound from my audio app, but when I record the screen it seems to record only the top left corner of my application (see attached screenshot). Hey y'all, asking if anyone else is experiencing this issue. I haven't changed any settings other than adding instagram as one of the multiple outputs. After the first session, OBS crashes immediately after hitting Start Streaming. It does so when running normally or when in Safe Mode. I even downloaded the latest version and I am still experiencing this issue. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the issue might be?

I installed the Advanced Scene Switcher plugin and I get a crash on startup. My partner installed and it worked. I remove from the plugins folder and OBS starts. Remove from the plugins folder and it crashes. I'm running and M3 Pro and ensured Rosetta is installed.

OBS Program Projector outputs to Main Display only......regardless which display is chosen when right-clicking on the Program screen in Studio Mode. Always worked properly until just now. Latest Sonoma 14.6.1 and OBS 30.2.2. After the projector opens on the Main Display, I can drag it over to the extended display that I want it to show up on, but that it as pain. Same thing happens if I right click on the Preview screen (when in Studio Mode) — the projector always displays in the Main Display, not the display chosen in the drop-down list. Not sure what has changed, but maybe one the recent updates to Sonoma or OBS is causing this? Any help much appreciated.

The Game Capture source is made for Windows only and is not available on macOS. To capture games, you should macOS Screen Capture (macOS 13 and later) or Window/Display Capture (macOS 12 and prior).

if for whatever reason you can't post the report, based on the info we do have, the issue is probably an issue with ipv6 that will be fixed in a later OBS release. you can work around it for the moment by going to settings->advanced in OBS, scrolling down to network, and changing "IP Family" to "IPv4 only"

In my experience with a similar computer, you should always start streaming with full charge and keep the computer conected. Also be sure that is well conected and in a place where the capture card will not flinch or move

your computer getting hot is not by itself an issue, it's probably doing that because of everything you're asking it to do. if you want, you can post a clean log of a session and we can maybe identify things you could change for better performance:

Hi, I’m trying to get back into making YouTube videos after a 2 year break. Back then I only used SharePlay and a bad headset, but now that I have a job (I’m 15 btw) I wanted to do it with better equipment. So now I have a blue yeti microphone, a pair of headphones to plug into the mic, a MacBook to record the footage on obs, and a capture card to directly connect my ps4 and Mac. However I’ve run into an issue, I’m trying to set it up so I can hear myself and the gameplay, but obs won’t record any audio. The only way I’ve found to get some audio is to switch the output to headphones on my ps4 from All Audio to Chat Audio. But it plays the audio on my Mac instead of through my headphones, so I can’t hear myself and the gameplay so well. I basically have 3 options.

1. Be able to hear myself and the gameplay through my blue yeti but OBS won’t record any audio (All Audio)

2. Buy a USB to Aux converter to be able to plug both my mic and my headphones into the capture card. (I’ve spent the past 2 months buying little converters and stuff that I didn’t know I needed until the last device came in the mail. I’m tired of waiting for stuff to arrive in the mail and want to see if there’s a way to do it with what I have.)

3.Connect my blue yeti to my Mac but be unable to hear the gameplay

4. Connect my headphones to the capture card and my mic into my PlayStation or Mac (I can’t hear myself in both)

Hey everyone, im new to setting up OBS and was wondering if anyone would be able to assist me on how to set up OBS to capture video right away for instant playback on another monitor.

For context I am filming a media training session where we give pointers to a client, film them, and provide playback right away through their tv.

I have a Sony fx6 and will be capturing their audio through a wireless lav. I’ll be shooting 60 fps 1080p to a MacBook Pro.

My questions would be:

What kind of capture device would you recommend to transfer the footage from my camera to laptop?

Is there anything else I am missing to achieve this?

ok im on ventura, and my continuity camera shows up in obs, but its showing a black screen. its not a permission issue because all the other sources works perfectly. its not the continuity camera because it works on other apps on my computer, like photo booth and zoom. also the mac im using is running ventura on a unsupported mac. i used open core audio to install ventura on it. its a 27 inch 2013 imac. i also have another imac that is supported by ventura, and my continuity camera worked on obs using that imac. im confused, the only difference between the two is one is supported, and the other isn't. but its weird because everything works smooth outside of obs. am i missing something?

I'm running my PS5 through AverMedia Bolt GC555 capture card (console to HDMI In), HDMI Out to my Samsung external monitor, and Thunderbolt 3 from the capture card to my 2020 MacBook Pro (Intel) that is on OS Sonoma 14.5. My MacBook is detecting the AverMedia Bolt capture card, but OBS is not.

I updated OBS today. I updated all the drivers. I'm not sure what to do. I even tried turning off the HDCP option from my PS5

The Logitech Brio webcam output in OBS intermittently experiences delays. The video is initially real-time but then randomly delays by several seconds before returning to real-time. This issue persists even after changing the webcam resolution to 1080p. Restarting OBS immediately resolves the delay, and the video returns to real-time, but the delay returns after a few minutes. Despite restarting the machine, OBS, and unplugging the webcam, and with CPU and GPU usage remaining low and consistent, the problem remains unresolved. This suggests the issue may be with OBS rather than the machine, as the video remains real-time only temporarily after restarting OBS. This problem does not occur in other applications on the same machine. Any suggestions?

and Apple has its proprietary hardware accelerated video encoder

(Twitch only allows H.264, which is less efficient, Youtube lets you use HEVC)

I can stream 4k60 (upscaled from just a bit over 1440p, which is the native resolution of the screen) with my M1 Air, even when it start thermal throttling it doesn't drop frames. but it all depends on what I'm doing. since you won't be using it, it's doing just video encoding, then it won't be an issue

It'd still go with at least the M1 mini just to be safe

Little thing that I've been running into a bit that perhaps one of you fine folk have seen or will know of:

When recording video and audio in OBS 30.2.3 for MacOS Sonoma, I've found that my audio capture for Application Audio for Discord seems to stop receiving audio partway through recording. I can't seem to find out what is causing it to cut out, but I've been relaunching OBS to get it to recognise and receive audio again.

I end up having recordings that go silent on that particular audio channel as a result, which is sort of irritating.

Has anyone run into this particular issue before, or might anyone have some insight as to what I'm doing wrong?

I found that changing my audio encoder may have helped, from the default CoreAudio AAC to FFmpeg AAC, but it'll require further testing before I'm confident that it's a solution.

hello everyone! nb here. i'm trying to use the advanced scene switcher to auto detect if a rtmp stream (the stream is coming from a mobile app to my local nginx server) has ended. i am able to detect when it is playing, pause, and stop but not ended. the scene remains in "live" and does not switch when i end the stream from the mobile app.

I did more troubleshooting, and potentially found a workaround, though not a solution to address the issue itself. If anyone in the future is looking for a fix here, you can use a virtual audio device such as from Loopback or VB Audio and assign an application's audio output to that device.

Then you can use the deprecated Audio Output Capture feature to grab that device as a source, and it seems to capture it consistently rather than dropping capture like it does with Application Audio.

If future folk experience this issue, definitely give this a go. Feel free to DM if you have questions about this.

First time posting because I am at the end of my research and I praying someone can help me. I have been streaming using OBS for the last 3 years. Running on my iMac 27in 2020 . I updated to the latest version of OBS 30.2.2 and ever since I have seen my CPU usage spike. It was usually running around 30% it now is running at almost 50% with spikes in the 60's. It lags the stream and lends to a lesser quality product. I can not get a true handle of what I can do to handle the issue. Is going back to an older version even an option? Hi, I'm not sure if this is an OBS issue or issue with my Audio Set up. I stream myself learning songs on guitar. For audio, I route my guitar and a vocal mic going through my NeuralDSP Quad Cortex going straight to my mac and into OBS as Audio Input Capture.

The issue is that the for my guitar at least, both the DI and the effects signals are both streaming. I tried to eliminate any possibility of my DI bleeding through via the Quad Cortex but with no luck. Is this an OBS issue or issue with my hardware?

I was scrolling through the interwebs and found it on some site. I can't remember. But I did have my admin restart the discord server and now it works. Hallelujah! It's just now, I have to deal with the "mirroring" on screen which I think I fixed by flipping everything else horizontally.

Hi guys, I've been streaming on my Mac Mini M2 and recently I've started multi-streaming.

Currently I'm streaming to YT, YT vertical, and Twitch, but I want to add TikTok as well. I do fear though the Mac won't handle it. I've already seen times when the bitrate to Twitch (setup in the main OBS settings) will drop the bitrate, although no frames are dropped.

Thoughts on this? Am I expecting too much from the little Mac?

So upon it being downloaded you have to give OBS access to record both the screen and the audio.

It’s done in settings. Then add a macOS display capture, then an audio capture for the whole computer. Then you will have Zoom recordings on your Mac with audio

Hey I have an interesting issue. So I have a capture card connected to my MacBook alongside a rodecaster pro. Since we want to hear the audio from the capture card through the rodecaster I enabled monitor and output for the capture card. So far so good, it works perfectly.

However once I lock the Mac, restart obs or reconnect the capture card: I have to turn monitor off and then back to monitor and output.

This seems like a bug no?

Hello! So I'm very new to streaming, and I decided to go with OBS for running an art Twitch account, but I've run into a bit of a hiccup. I need to connect my IPad to my MacBook as a video capture device, but all I'm getting is a black screen. I would like to add in the fact that OBS does make my IPad an available option when I go to add it as the video capture device, I've completely updated both devices and the program, turned them off and on, as well as gone into the system settings for both devices and the program to address anything there that might be blocking the connection that way. I even got a pop-up on both devices asking for permissions and agreed on both ends. The only other thing I can think of that might be an issue at this point is the cable that's being used to connect the two devices. Both the IPad and MacBook only have a USBC port, and I'm using an Apple brand USBC to USBC cable to connect the two. Is it possible that I have to get a different kind of cable and connect them with a USBC to HDMI converter?

the video capture device for your screen should be listed as "<device name> Screen" in OBS. if it's not there, you should only need to unplug it and plug it back in. it does require a wired connection. can you show the dropdown for the devices available for the source?

The device is labeled that way because I just went with the generic thing while trouble shooting. It does show that my IPad is an available option and is selected, and it is connected with a wire. Unplugging and plugging it back in does nothing to fix the problem.

I'm having an issue with OBS on my M3 pro max. My keybinds dont work if I'm not tabbed into obs. I have keybinds for start/stop recording and for replay buffer but if I'm in game or doing anything else they dont work. Once I tab into obs they work perfectly fine. Any help?

working with a high school to livestream their football games using a Hudl Focus camera they already have. I have access to the staff wifi network.

I’m using a MacBook Air with the M2 chip and have had no issues up to this point. However, when I follow the steps to add the camera as a media source, I can’t get video. I’ve checked the RTMP address and it’s entered correctly. I’ve tried adjusting buffering settings and still can’t get anything. Does anyone have any advice?

looking at it with clear eyes, I see you have it set to "Same as Stream" for your Recording encoder, so it is using the streaming bitrate.

Try switching it to what I suggested with the bot. change it from Same as Stream to a hardware encoder (Apple H264), and set the Quality to Indistinguishable or High Quality (indisting. will be larger file size than high quality)

using these suggested settings will let OBS adjust the amount of data needed based on a set quality you want. Not all frames and scenes need the same bitrate usage. With a set, static bitrate, its both a waste of a lack of data at the same time

there is a tradeoff when doing live recordings.

if you need to make the file smaller but keep the quality, you can run it thru an app like HandBrake on a slower preset, giving the encoder more time per frame to compress everything

id suggest investing in an SSD to dump finished recordings to quickly before starting the next one

and if you know generally how the interviews will look on the recording, and can semi-replicate it for a test recording, you can get an idea of how much actual extra storage you would need.

On macOS, the menu bar is located at the top of the screen, not the OBS Studio window. If you are in full screen mode and cannot see the menu bar, move your cursor to the top of the screen.

So when you’re streaming, there’s the option to use your face cam to have a video of you on the stream. You don’t have to use the camera if you don’t want to, but for some reason OBS has an issue with showing any kind of video feed without granting the app access to that. You go into your settings and grant it access to your computers built in camera and the video feed should work. You don’t have to actually use it, but granting it access to that makes screen recording or things like that actually work. At the very least it did for me.

Hello. I hope I am in the correct channel. I am having issues incorporating Se.live plug in to current OBS software. I have downloaded Stream elements to my laptop and it has give me two OBS now in my dock. One is my current OBS that I want to use those plugins and the other is SE.live I don’t want to stream from SE. Live. I want to stream from obs with the plugins I downloaded from SE. live. If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated. I am very new to all of this 😭

se.live is just a plugin for obs it's not a program of its own

also it's completely useless and often breaks obs so I wouldn't advise using it, but you do you

Hello, I have OBS 30.2.3 installed on my imac. Everything was working fine at first, but for the past couple weeks, my preview screen isn't showing anything. The properties are all the same, and audio is picking up just fine. I'm recording my switch (and soon my ps5) through an elgato neo.

Yeah I don’t know what all those words mean afkajd whatever you said but yeah I wish those plug ins would just go to my OBS. Would there be a better plug into use similar to stream elements? I enjoy how it can be engaging for viewers when you can have the bot tell me !watchhours or !tickets to be entered for a drawing of something.
