alright i see what you're talking about. this is different from the lag guns and i have been discussing earlier, but this looks like a real regression. seems like with window capture 1 in every 10 or so frames is duplicated/dropped, while with display capture very few frames are dropped

@west cypress have you by chance heard other reports yet of SCK window captures in 14.2 dropping lots of frames compared to display captures? #macos-support message from this user, with window capture, roughly 1 in 8 frames appear to be dropped (not evenly spaced) compared to a display capture of the same content which has very few dropped. i have not updated to 14.2 because of other bugs so i can't independently verify

Hello! I'm having an issue with Application Capture, the macos menu bar is no longer visible, instead there is a black bar at the top. This problem started a couple days ago, before that Application Capture was working fine. Anyone else encountered this problem?

Hi. I have a gaming pc and OBS on a macmini (Intel 2.5 Dual Core + 8GB ram). I capture the gaming pc with a usb capture device. The capture arrives wo the macmini smothly, but the stream is very slow. Does anyone know if its a computer problem or the setting might be wrong? Here is a clip of the twitch stream. Anyone having issues with OBS crashing during midstream? I have had to uninstall and delete everything to get OBS to stop giving me the wheel of death and then reinstall it so it would work. I have Mac mini M2 with EVGAXR 1 pro capture card for my Xbox (2015).

The Mac has been updated to latest version and so has OBS. Has been restarted as well. After reinstalling yesterday and adding back in all sources and scenes it crashed after streaming for 2 hours. After the crash the only way to get OBS to start up again is to delete the support OBS folder which deletes everything.

I have been using obs at work everyday for the last 7 months. We use it on MacBook pros in 4 different studios. We don't stream to any platform we use it to record and to screen share to a RF modulator to broadcast over the cable system on our facility. Over that last 2 days we have been getting random Confetti and balloons and thumbs up the pop across the screen? What can I check to try to stop that?

Hi there, I am trying to intergrate the quick actions box from twitch into OBS, I have done this through the customer browser docks feature however when I click 'Clip That' Although a clip has been saved, it doesn't stop loading. to fix this, you need to temporarily revoke OBS's screen capture permissions, remove your macOS screen capture sources, then re-grant the permission. here are some steps:

  1. open system settings, go to privacy and security, then screen recording. either toggle OBS off, or remove it from the list
  2. restart OBS
  3. go through your scenes and remove macOS screen capture scenes
  4. in system settings, give OBS the permission again
  5. restart OBS, and add macOS screen capture scenes that you want once more

@heavy umbra if you're using a macOS Display Capture source that's capturing your whole desktop, mute it and add a macOS Audio Capture source.

Hello. I have been using OBS on an old Imac for recording zoom classes. Works well. I recently received notice to install an update which I did install and then the update asked me to allow the system extension. I went into settings and privacy and security and allowed the extension for obs. When I go into Extensions at the bottom to check to see if the extension was installed it does not show an extension for obs. Doesn't show any extensions actually. Where should I look to see if the extension was added for the software to work the best? Thank you.

@exotic patrol if you want a fullscreen window capture to occupy your entire canvas, the correct behavior would be to use a canvas size that doesn't include this gap, and then crop your source accordingly. that should mean a canvas size of 1440x852 if i'm calculating correctly

I just start using obs recently. I'm using a macbook pro 2017 on macOS Ventura 13.6.1 and running the latest obs. I'm having difficulty with the virtual camera, this message pops up prevent me from using it, I found some solutions online and tested them out:

  • install the latest version of obs
  • grant permissions in the privacy&security
  • try to put obs in application folder (I use obs on steam)
  • try to download obs mac version on the website but it's not compatible for my mac
    and the issue still persists, is there anything else I could do

i wouldn't recommend using steam builds on macOS. i'd download from https://obsproject.com/download, specifically the x86_64 (intel) version, and putting it in your applications folder and running it from that folder directly at all times

from there, you should be able to just follow the instructions for virtual camera extension installation and things should work
