you would need to adjust it while outputting to a single device, and then go back to the multi-output device

On macOS, the menu bar is located at the top of the screen, not the OBS Studio window. If you are in full screen mode and cannot see the menu bar, move your cursor to the top of the screen.

ok, yes; your source is just larger than your canvas. i think you may want to take some time to familiarize yourself with the basics of OBS. this is a pretty fundamental concept to OBS, how sources are arranged on the canvas, and it's probably better to try and learn some of the main concepts before heading to support channels

Hi all, I am trying to use an Elgato capture card with OBS and an Asus Ally which has a default resolution of 1080p. I am able to set up the capture card to recieve video from the device, however, despite checking for 1080p input and output everywhere I still end up with black bars on the top and bottom. Hello friends. I am in need of some novice troubleshooting assistance.

macos screen capture's application capture will do that automatically for applications that you are not capturing. if you want that entirely, you'd probably need to superimpose an image of the menu bar. why do you want that behavior?

On macOS, some older Elgato capture devices may not be supported or require workarounds to use with OBS Studio:

  • Game Capture HD and HD60 are not compatible with Apple Silicon-based Macs. On Intel-based Macs, use the Elgato Game Capture app in full screen, then capture it with a macOS Screen Capture/Window Capture source
  • HD 60S is not compatible with Apple Silicon-based Macs. On Intel-based Macs, use the OBS Link app
  • HD 60S+, HD 60X, Cam Link are compatible with all Macs and can be captured with a Video Capture source. Make sure you are using a USB 3-compliant USB cable or adapter, connected directly to your Mac if possible

roblox has known difficulties with being captured on other platforms, and i've never heard of any instance in any other game of OBS causing the game to no longer respond to input on macOS, so yeah, at first glance, it seems very possible to me that it's a roblox issue

Developing OBS Studio for mobile devices is currently outside the scope of what the project is able to work on. Also, the majority of mobile hardware in use today is not capable of running the full OBS Studio feature set without significant compromises.

There are already many high-quality streaming apps optimised for mobile including Streamlabs Mobile, PRISM Live Studio, or Larix Broadcaster, both available for iOS and Android.

I just did a recording session where I kept the volume constant, at 30 FPS, on my Mac. There were still some parts where the game's audio was quieter than it should have been. I wonder what's going on, because I really don't want to restart my playthrough.

Hey all, not sure if this is a known bug with the new OBS 30.0 that just released the last couple days and MacOS Sonoma 14.1.1, but there's a weird "sharing" button anomaly, where even after closing OBS, macos still think's it's "sharing".

Forgive me if this has been asked before. But I just updated OBS on my mac and everytime i close it i get a message saying that it wasn't properly closed. So when I click re open it asks to run in safe mode.

is there a way i can force OBS to auto-reconnect until it succeeds without this error popup while using WHIP?

i am trying to run a 24/7 stream via WHIP, but if the connection is interupted, the stream stops and does not auto-reconnect. this means i have to manually go to the computer, dimiss the error message, and the click start stream in order to get the stream back up adn running.

logs are also included in the photo. (p.s - i already have the auto-reconnect settings set to 7,000 tries, it just doesnt function with WHIP)

for some reason the liasion process thinks that the new extension is already running and thus does not start the process, so there is no virtual camera present in the system - a restart helps insofar as the system starts all camera extensions from scratch

Advanced output mode, while allowing for more fine-tuning of options, does not automatically mean that your stream or recording will have better quality. Often, it can result in lower quality, because it can allow changes to settings that really shouldn't be changed. In most cases, Simple output mode is the best option to get the most out of OBS.

To change back to Simple output mode:

  1. Go to Settings > Output in OBS.
  2. Change "Output Mode" from "Advanced" to "Simple".

Unless someone knows a fix I'll run a log next time it happens, but the issue I've been having is that I'll be streaming Baldurs Gate 3 using Macos Screen Capture with window capture, and if the source on OBS freezes I usually deselect and reselect, but with the window capture it only comes back taking up a quarter of the screen (top left corner), only way I know to fix this is to quit OBS and relaunch is. I know using Application capture with my other games deselecting and reselecting works fine, unsure why window capture does this.

Hey y'all, I recently updated to Sonoma 14.1 and installed OBS 30 this morning but I'm getting this error when I try to start the Virtual Camera. Anyone know a way around it?

For a little extra context, I still have OBS 29.1.3 still installed, too, and I don't get the same error when starting the Virtual Camera. I'm assuming I could restore legacy video device support for my OS (per Apple's instructions) and continue to use 29.1.3 for the virtual camera but I haven't tried that yet as I'd prefer not to mess around too much and it'd be nice if version 30 worked for me. it's been a fairly well known issue for awhile now that captures will freeze after some amount of time with no consistent repro. i've connected it to moments of brief high system load, or sometimes to starting up rosetta applications, but never with a 100% consistent repro. the top left corner scaling issue i recognize from ventura, but i have not hit it since sonoma, which is why i suggested the update

id like to report a bug that has been occuring on all public versions of macos 14 (sonoma)~ 14.0, 14.1 & 14.1.1, where the menu bar title glitches from "OBS" -> "OBS Studio" as soon as you do something else in another app and click back on obs.

Tried searching so sorry if this was in a place I couldn't locate. Has anyone had issues with application captures since updating MacOS and OBS? It seems to have started recently. If I switch off my monitor, I can hear the audio on the stream but the video is frozen. I need to go back into OBS, selecte a different app. window and reselect the application I want to stream. It solves the problem for a day or so but it keeps coming back.

Yeah, if I turn off my actually monitor or change inputs to a different device it will sometimes cause that freezing issue of the video. It seems to be related to that as the problem will appear when one of those actions happens.

yeah, the freezing in general is a known issue but without a pinpointed cause. i would encourage you to file a feedback with apple with all the information you have

When you download OBS, this is what comes up. You're supposed to drop OBS into the Applications folder

you should probably be using the apple silicon version from the obs website, but that's unlikely to be causing the issue. nothing else stood out to be as an obvious potential cause

Hi guys! When I registered for the OBS forum, it prompted "The email has been banned by the administrator." I don't know if I have registered yet. Who should I contact to resolve this issue?

Bug Report:
when using OBS 30 with a vertical oriented canvas 1080x1920 - the virtual camera gets zoomed in and cropped off when trying to display it in a camera app like VDO Ninja.

not sure if this is entirely VDO ninja or also an OBS issue so i'll be cross posting.

Hello everyone! I have some questions about OBS/DISCORD/ PS5. I’ve recently bought a capture card to link the console to pc and use OBS. The big issue is with the voice setting, I try to explain: I mostly play with my community through discord and I have a pair of headphone that has a microphone in it. I’ve red online that I cannot use the microphone from the headphones but I have to use the one from the controller. Is it right? Do I have to buy a separated microphone?

Hi, this may be a confusing support request but my friend and I are using OBS to power some live graphics for a home-poker stream. The sources are triggered by a Streamdeck XL with source visibility buttons, or sometimes pre-programmed multi-action buttons. Most of the sources are in groups and use hide/show animations.

Our system usually works flawlessly to display what we need, but after a while some of the browser sources stop showing up when triggered, or will glitch off when a scene is changed or another source is toggled on. I made a log file and I do see a bunch of errors at the bottom for some of the sources that are troubling us. Does anyone know more about the HTML errors or see anything else alarming? I can also send a GIF I made that shows the issue happening from one of our streams. The first three cards disappear when the fourth is turned on, and then everything breaks. Thank you!!

Hey guys, I just started streaming and recently got ahold of a capture card. I also downloaded OBS to help record my gameplay and start creating content.
My issue is with the settings for said content. I don't know how I should set up my video recording. I am not very smart when it comes to the specs and how I should set it up. I was hoping some of you guys could give me a hand. I have a feeling that with my current setup, I won't get that "crisp" gameplay, but I want to do the best that I can until I can get a better
PC.

I understand the macOS sandbox, but there should be a way to specify or replace the fill during the installation. Not nearly as elegant as pre-v30, but would allow a single placeholder.png for a user.

hello everyone! i've already wrote in the audio-support "area" but i think that having a mac is better to write here. Here's the issue: i play from a ps5 and mostly through discord with my community and my follower pointed out that the only voice audible during the live was mine . So i've bought a capture card, linked to my imac etc etc, i've dowloaded discord on my pc, streamkit as well, created a scene for discord but i still have problem with the audio. I've seen a lot of video on youtube but none are enough clear about (someone suggested me to buy a chatlink- do i really need it?) i need someone who can explain me step by step how to import discord audio in my twitch live because i'm losing my mind because of it.
