Most people here will "recommend" what they know. As you can see, there are two basic camps: Apple and Android. People tend to stay with what is familiar to them, especially as operating system makes as much of a difference for people as the hardware.
Personally, I can't stand Samsung os and apps. But my wife loves them. She has been with the Galaxy S line for years. I prefer Pixel phones. I've had the 3a, 5a and 7 Pro.

Generally I shoot in RAW+JPEG and only process the RAW if I'm printing or looking for a specific look I didn't get in the JPEG sooc

it still seems to be applying an edge enhancement filter, but not the upscaling
which, honestly, the edge enhancement is subtle and seems to make most of the difference
