They changed from their own engine to UE, but data is still stored in plugin files in a format similar to their other games - similar enough that many mods can be recreated by hand, but you can't just take a .esp made for 2006 Oblivion and expect it to work as-is in the remake.

The best part about this is that now we have 19 years of legacy modding experience, so I'm sure there will be many good things to come. I already revisit Skyrim about once a year because that's about how much time it takes for a significant number of new content mods to come out, Oblivion remake might require more frequent revisits.

Yeah, I've ran into probably a dozen or so people who have complex OBS setups with 800-2500 scenes and who even knows how many sources.

One reason for lots of scenes is having presentation scenes (shown to users), and construction scenes (used for nesting to build a given visual in a stable reliable way).

I used to use a lot of nesting to achieve certain visual effects, however over time I migrated to using custom shaders for many of them, and will continue that in the future for things that can sensibly or optimally be done that way. Not everything makes sense as a shader though. I might resort to custom scripts for other stuff.

Also I think ihazabeard's Stream Animate app might help automate some things and simplify OBS side setup.

This is mainly due to memory swapping, and possibly due to background CPU usage of the apps you have running.

Modern web browsers eat stupid amounts of memory, even 32 GB is no longer enough, and 8 is below minimum.

Realistically Fedora/KDE served me extremely well when I used it the way I used Fedora when I was in college, which leaves me thinking the new Flatpak paradigm the issue there (and the way fedora, specifically, handles it). Thankfully there are people like Neal who do fantastic work on the old install system.

The upshot is I always felt like it acted enough like windows that for most of my tinkering, I knew where to go without much trouble, it has an old style start menu that takes typed inputs appropriately. If they could respect direct user choice, I never would have switched off, and may have switched my main machine over.

Here is another PC gaming issue that I have faced, and not really got a good solution for. So again im wondering if anyone has "solved" this problem

Basically I have a nice sensitivity in desktop mode, but when playing games that use the desktop mouse, it often feels too fast if I lower the resolution. This makes sense because im still moving my mouse the same amount of pixels, but since the display is lower resolution, each movement is exaggerated. Does anyone know how to keep the mouse sensitivy feeling the same across pretty much any resolution?

My immediate thought would be to find my current resolution and mouse sensitivity and derive some kind of constant. And then arrive at the same constant for another resolution by calculating a new mouse sensitivity. But this seems like a lot of work that I would rather have the computer do for me.

Maybe the solution is to do this calculation before hand, and then program these different mouse sensitivities into the mouse as different DPI profiles that can be cycled between. I think my logitech mouse can have like 5 dpi profiles, so that is probably enough for all the "standard" resolutions: 720p, 900p, 1080p, 1440p etc

Character, effects and resource management can vary from player to player and group to group. Some just assume spells that were cast prior to a rest are still "in effect" while others feel that if a person is resting deeply or sleeping then they can't contine the effect - especially one that requires concentration, etc.

there is someone i was in contact with via email from 2015 -2019 and then all of a sudden in 2020 when i tried to send him emails i would get the "undelivered mail" email within seconds of sending the email

i tried several times between 2020 - 2022 and always got the undelivered mail auto response
