hey, would anyone know about exporting a video from vegas pro 14 to davinci resolve? i tried the fcp7 one which is the only one that worked but the audio was all out of place. i had to suffer 8 hours rendering with vegas and it outputted a file double the size of the input

Make a few hundred free gmail accounts, then use a program to split the video into multiple 18MB sized files, then email them to your account, which will BASE64 encode them expanding them to around 25MB max size. Later, the file attachments can be extracted and recombined into the original video file.

the thing with losslesscut is it's meant to cut… losslessly so it just copies the data over from the original file instead of re-encoding like resolve does

And it took 8 hours to output 8gb of a file from a 4gb input file for some reason

i need to resolve the gpu acceleration issue

That's not how video compression works, a 1080p 60 FPS video decodes to about ~356 MBps. Reencoding lossy to lossy will amplify its compression artifacts.

In terms of games, looks like mainly DX12 ones seem to be affected.

Baldur's Gate 3 and Warhammer 3 run fine for instance, but Spiderman and Witcher 3 do not, they are noticeably worse. Spiderman in particular is unplayable - stutterfest from 120 fps to 20-30, constantly, in the menu even, every second. Same in game.

I would switch to Linux if I could but my monitor (TV to be exact) only has HDMI 2.1 ports and AMD does not support HDMI 2.1 on Linux because of legal issues.

1. Had to toggle HDR on or off in KDE somewhere between 15-20 times until the colors were no longer washed out in HDR.
2. Sometimes nothing appeared on boot, like the LUKS encryption screen. I had to guess when the system reached that point and manually input the password, then the Linux login screen was shown. I also sometimes could not see the BIOS.
3. Weird screen glitches/artifacts when entering/exiting fullscreen sometimes

whenever I think about CES, i am reminded of right before the iPad 1 was released, and so many companies were showing off what their laptop/tablets were going to be.

Seen new leak today that the 5050, 5060, 5070 will be 8GB, the 5070Ti 12GB, 5080 16GB, 5090 32GB. This stuff changes every 10 minutes, I don't believe any of it really until it is officially announced. These companies can change things at the last second for market purposes or whims, and even spread disinformation so one can't separate legit leaks from bogus ones, and since things can change so late cycle anyway even legit ones are not trustworthy.

For the 9070XT, which is a renamed 8800XT? The 7800XT is like $650 CAD right now and AMD wants to be aggressive with pricing this gen to pick up market share so they say publicly. Making it $700 USD (presumably) would make it $1050+ CAD and they'll sell zero of them IMHO. I'm expecting to see this card land at $600-750 CAD max, which would be $450-550 USD max. IMHO if they price it higher than that it is increasingly unlikely to sell well unless NVIDIA craps the bed fully again.

Not only that, but dropping it from "8" tier to "7" tier in the naming suggests to me that they want it to be compared with the NVIDIA 70 class not 80 class, and that makes more sense to me for a few reasons. One is that if it is 7 class now people will expect 7 class pricing, which would be aggressive and deliver what many are expecting. The other is that when UDNA comes out in 1-2 years, they can introduce new 8 and 9 class cards on the high end above this 7 class, and that makes a LOT of sense, and at higher prices, whereas if they put this out as an 8 class card at lower pricing, people will expect UDNA 8 class to also be at lower pricing and if it isn't people will flip out.

So the model numbers don't really actually matter, it's just market positioning in the end. And they want their tiers to be compared to NVIDIA's tiers which they skewed with RDNA3. This would put it back on track.

If they get the MCD stuff really working for UDNA, and it is looking line they have a good chance of doing that from patents and other info out there WRT packaging tech etc., then they could compete in the high end again in 1-2 years and that's their goal... but one thing nobody seems to mention when talking about this (on YouTube from what I've seen anyway), is that NVIDIA is going to do the same thing probably alongside the AMD gen that goes there. NVIDIA already has MCD working on their AI stuff too, so they're no slouch, and Blackwell designs for datacenter use it as well.

If AMD can do this at TSMC, then NVIDIA with 10 times the market cap (or more?) can certainly do it at TSMC too IMHO. I think AMD lost their potential first mover advantage of MCD by not having it ready with RDNA3.

i just made a google account using a VPN for the country i wanted the account to be made in, and i made it so i can buy movies from google tv

now this new google account is made in the other country and i switched off the VPN and now i no longer get the movies from the other country

so does that mean I have to use VPN anytime i need to buy a movie? i thought it was based on account country because for years i had a google account with a different country and it worked fine , so im not sure why its not working now
