AMD has one upped Intel a number of times in the past but was not used to or prepared to be number one and so they couldn't stay there, plus Intel had a lot of money so they could just out spend AMD and brute force their next generation to overpower AMD again, so AMD never had enough time in the limelight to overtake market share until Ryzen happened.

Yeah, for repeat use, Process Lasso or similar is less effort

TM is fine for oneoffs or occasional, or if you are limiting something to a couple cores. On a 16 core 32 thread processor having to go in there and click 16 times every time you launch a game is not great 🙂

There's also the Windows "START" command that can be used in game launchers/shortcuts

after spending 20 minutes trying to figure out the syntax 🙂

With Cyberpunk 2077, my avg fps went up about 1-2% on 16 cores, max fps by about 40-50%, but ... min fps tanked to 1/2 to 2/3, which was a more noticeable thing. I never noticed playing normally but after experimentation I found that locking the game to the first CCD gave the best overall performance, and also disabling hyperthreading.

AMD gamers shouted at CDPR to add Ryzen hyperthreading support to the game so they finally put an option to turn it on, defaulting to off...

because it lowers performance

On single CCD, lows went up by 50%, avg down by a few fps, and highs down to about 2/3 or less.

Which was something like 24/78/165 on 1 CCD and around 16/80/240 on 2 CCDs

just going from memory

So my conclusion was that on a 60Hz monitor, there is no visible difference between 165 and 240fps peak frame rate, and no visible difference between 78 to 80 avg either, but dipping to 24 occasionally I didn't really notice, but dipping to 16fps I'm more likely to notice.

So 1CCD > 2CCDs, but was still impressed they made the game take advantage of all 16 cores.

Especially when we hear "no games use more than 8 cores" repeated endlessly even though it isn't true.

No games need more than 8 cores, but some definitely will use them if they're there. 🙂

There are no "best settings." Please understand that every setup, for every use case, will be different. Any guides or videos that claim otherwise are misinforming at best.

We recommend that you start off by using Auto-Config to get a baseline of where your settings should be; click on the Tools menu in OBS, select Auto-Configuration Wizard, and then just follow the on-screen directions. You can test and adjust from there.

Excel is dumb. You have to know how to "talk" to it 🙂 I used it many times for auto calculations for long formulas. Was a fun personal project cause I got tired of flipping pages in a manual to get the scores for numbers during semi annual physical readiness testing in the military

as far as I can see, it's :

• part of GameOverlayUI, so not a new conflict source per se.
• doing a replay buffer in raw video and only encoding when exporting, so shouldn't be a constant encoder tax
  But nonetheless could be good to keep in mind in case of otherwise inexplicable overload peaks or smth like that

Just watching reviews right now and kind of blown away. The 9800X3D is doing not only better at gaming on average and peak than I expected (11% and 46%), but improved non-gaming apps also including apps that performed slower on previous X3D get a performance gain now. It's like wut?
