marsh helm
#

it will doom intel longterm

#

but 2025 has nothing to get income from

tall vapor
#

oh if the trajectory continues the way it does intel fabs will no doubt end up being spun off completely

marsh helm
#

i can really see apple buying some up

#

and amd and QUALCOMM making a partnership

#

nvidia would also love to buy one

#

theres soo little ppl working at the factories now that its not its going to be hard to find more ppl

#

intel pays the least out of the the options

tall vapor
#

oh the govs sure won't go "oh sure you can have what we paid for, suure"

copper notch
#

My buddy sent me this a couple months ago:

marsh helm
#

intel spent 4 years of RND to make this tiles design

copper notch
#

I sent him back this 30m later 🙂

marsh helm
#

now they are going to kill off half of the skus

marsh helm
sudden adder
#

R&D is RAD 🙂

copper notch
#

Now if GIMP 3 was ready it woulda only taken 10m damnit 🙂

marsh helm
#

R&D budget is cut 25% for 2025

tall vapor
marsh helm
#

like seriously at what point do they just not have enough ppl to do anything

marsh helm
#

and at some point you dont need more power you just need a good price to performance laptop

tall vapor
copper notch
#

AMD designs one chiplet and a few IODs, uses it in like 50 products. Intel designs a zillion chips and uses them in one product or a couple with defects. That doesn't scale

marsh helm
#

yeah

#

exactly

copper notch
#

Intel is moving towards a modular approach like AMD but they dropped the ball so far.

marsh helm
#

now they are changing that but is it too late?

#

and now they are saying they arnt doing on die memory

#

thats the new standard

tall vapor
#

funnily enough intel having 2 different core designs is gonna bite em in the butt so hard

marsh helm
#

it takes up a lot more room to do off die memory

#

and the laptops are fatter

copper notch
#

If they survive long enough to get Panther Lake out, they better hope it is a lot better and that they can produce it at less cost and close the gap or good luck surviving from 5% of CPUs sold.

tall vapor
copper notch
#

With AMD's datacenter chips absolutely mangling Intel's

marsh helm
#

the e cores being a different arch its really bad margins

copper notch
#

Intel can only survive in the datacenter for so long from past vendor lockin

tall vapor
#

I mean that's what intel be doing in general, making a different thing for every single chip ya make

marsh helm
#

they have to invest soo much money into the e cores

#

look at how little rnd amd had to spend

#

they just took an exacto knife

copper notch
#

Leaks suggest that Intel realizes E-cores were a mistake and is getting rid of them within 3 generations allegedly.

marsh helm
marsh helm
#

i havnt heard of that

#

well wait

#

you are correct

#

barret lake

#

thats only p cores

tall vapor
#

not surprising, that's how long it'd take em to realistically switch to an all new core design that scales

copper notch
marsh helm
#

well barret lake has been killed off from what i heard

copper notch
#

Yeah, apparently there are 2 more generations of E-cores apparently then the next after that is all P-cores

marsh helm
#

and since intel hasnt said anything about it

#

i think its true

#

but now what the ceo said about getting rid of skus yeah...

#

i can see it

copper notch
#

I saw a few videos about it. I think one of them was from MLID

tall vapor
marsh helm
#

they saw what amd was doing and said

#

wtf why are we doing this the hard way

#

just go from 40 cores to 32 and make them be all p

copper notch
#

Personally though I wouldn't be surprised if Intel 4 generations from how has P-cores, E-cores, X-cores, Y-cores, Z-cores, YourMom-cores

marsh helm
copper notch
#

I mean they do have CPUs with 3 different core types, those low power cores for battery

tall vapor
copper notch
#

so 5 types isn't that much of a long shot

marsh helm
#

e cores on servers dont work too because the arch is different

#

benchmarks is fine but not real world

#

who is going to reprogram their software to only work on a single type of chip?

tall vapor
#

the e cores pretend to be haswell, right?

#

cause that's what their feature support is p much

#

haswell

copper notch
#

hasnotsowell 🙂

tall vapor
#

cause anything that targets hardware newer than haswell no be worky on the e cores

copper notch
#

AMD has one upped Intel a number of times in the past but was not used to or prepared to be number one and so they couldn't stay there, plus Intel had a lot of money so they could just out spend AMD and brute force their next generation to overpower AMD again, so AMD never had enough time in the limelight to overtake market share until Ryzen happened.

marsh helm
copper notch
#

Some examples.... AMD was first to hit 1GHz CPUs, first to release a dual-core CPU, AMD extended the 32bit architecture to 64bits and Intel avoided it until they had to acknowledge IA64 wasn't going to work out and then copied AMD's 64bit design poorly.

marsh helm
#

but i dont think archwise

tall vapor
#

I mean yeah great, the i9 has oh so many cores.... too bad that most of them are haswell

copper notch
#

I'd have to double check but I think AMD might have had hardware VT first too.

tall vapor
#

cause their instr support is haswell equivalent

#

"Hey, what can you do?" - "Treat me as a haswell cpu"

marsh helm
#

E-core architecture Skymont Intel is achieving this double-digit IPC gain over "Crestmont" through an improved branch prediction unit, a broader 9-wide Decode unit compared to the 6-wide Decode unit of "Crestmont," and an 8-wide integer ALU, compared to 4 Integer ALU on its predecessor, a dependency optimization in the out-of-order engine, and deeper queuing across the engine. The E-cores might still be arranged in clusters that share an L2 cache among a certain number of cores.

#

And now, the big reveal—the "Skymont" E-core is said to offer a double-digit IPC gain over the "Crestmont" E-core powering the current "Meteor Lake" processor, which in itself posted a roughly 4% IPC gain over the "Gracemont" E-cores found in the "Raptor Lake" and "Alder Lake" microarchitectures. Such an IPC gain over "Gracemont" should make the "Skymont" E-core match the IPC of the "Sunny Cove" or "Willow Cove" P-cores powering the "Ice Lake" and "Tiger Lake" microarchitectures, respectively, which were both within the 90th percentile of the AMD "Zen 3" core in IPC.

tall vapor
marsh helm
#

yeah that makes sense

#

i have a feeling this thing is choking without the cudimm

#

8000mhz+

#

there were huge latency increases seen on arrow lake

#

GoodNight so you really need much more expensive ram to unlock any performance increase for these new chips

tall vapor
#

and now the next EA game is yeetin itself from lin&deck; apex this time round. lol

#

Would love for the folk that bought skins&stuff for that game but now can't play it thanks to that no more to submit receipts to the stop killing games effort that's currently goin on

#

ig this is a last push of them trying to pretend that their anticheat stuffs works before you can buy a small box thingie that plugs in between your computer and yer monitor&peripherals that does all the cheatin for you. I mean that's been goin on for quite some time now, but yeah it's obv gonna be a thing very soon that there's gonna be the "AI Cheat Box 3000" that ye can order off of aliexpress lol

copper notch
#

I think the effort is well intentioned, but I kind of agree with Thor's view on the movement, that it is badly worded and potentially harmful.

#

Saw a video last week where someone made an AI robot cheat. No software runs on the gaming PC, the bot has a webcam to watch the monitor like a human, a fake human hand that uses and clicks on the mouse etc.

tall vapor
#

yup.

#

That's no doubt gonna be turned into a product before too long.

silver fable
#

So, guess my CPU is the bottleneck.

amber sparrow
#

Disable the 2nd ccd and test again

#

Maybe horizon is one of those that doesn't like multi ccd workload

silver fable
#

Lemme Google how to do that. LOL

amber sparrow
#

Ryzen Master or bios

copper notch
#

just enable the first half of the logical cores

#

or the 2nd half

amber sparrow
#

Could do that too

silver fable
#

That's it? Seems too easy.

copper notch
#

that's it

amber sparrow
#

Process lasso is better for that as it retains those settings upon reboot

copper notch
#

All the cores are still there, the process will just be limited to the ones you restrict it to

#

Yeah, for repeat use, Process Lasso or similar is less effort

#

TM is fine for oneoffs or occasional, or if you are limiting something to a couple cores. On a 16 core 32 thread processor having to go in there and click 16 times every time you launch a game is not great 🙂

#

There's also the Windows "START" command that can be used in game launchers/shortcuts

#

after spending 20 minutes trying to figure out the syntax 🙂

silver fable
#

Benchmark running. We shall see.

#

and the answer is?

#

Wonder if it would have been better on the other CCD. Hmm....

copper notch
#

With Cyberpunk 2077, my avg fps went up about 1-2% on 16 cores, max fps by about 40-50%, but ... min fps tanked to 1/2 to 2/3, which was a more noticeable thing. I never noticed playing normally but after experimentation I found that locking the game to the first CCD gave the best overall performance, and also disabling hyperthreading.

#

AMD gamers shouted at CDPR to add Ryzen hyperthreading support to the game so they finally put an option to turn it on, defaulting to off...

#

because it lowers performance

#

🙂

copper notch
amber sparrow
copper notch
#

On single CCD, lows went up by 50%, avg down by a few fps, and highs down to about 2/3 or less.

#

Which was something like 24/78/165 on 1 CCD and around 16/80/240 on 2 CCDs

#

just going from memory

#

So my conclusion was that on a 60Hz monitor, there is no visible difference between 165 and 240fps peak frame rate, and no visible difference between 78 to 80 avg either, but dipping to 24 occasionally I didn't really notice, but dipping to 16fps I'm more likely to notice.

#

So 1CCD > 2CCDs, but was still impressed they made the game take advantage of all 16 cores.

#

Especially when we hear "no games use more than 8 cores" repeated endlessly even though it isn't true.

#

No games need more than 8 cores, but some definitely will use them if they're there. 🙂

amber sparrow
#

It seems a lot of games just don't like multi ccd. And that's why things like 5800x3d/7800x3d reign king for gaming performance

silver fable
#

Even better results. Second CCD it is, then.

amber sparrow
#

I've personally been quite happy ditching multi ccd 3900x for single ccd 5800x

silver fable
#

I try to only upgrade CPUs when I can double the RAM. Getting hard to do that, though... i7-4790k w/ 32Gb RAM > I9-9900k w/ 64Gb RAM > Ryzen 9 5950x w/ 128Gb RAM.

The 9000 series tops out at 192Gb RAM. 😦

#

Do I need all that RAM? No

amber sparrow
#

Do you routinely utilize most of that memory?

#

Unused memory is wasted memory Ainsley

silver fable
#

Speaking of utilizing... Filling this thing up. Might need to add another drive.

#

I can add another 30Tb before I run out of SATA ports.

amber sparrow
#

What all are you storing?

silver fable
#

My entire physical media collection.

#

Ripping them one disc at a time. Currently ripping the second Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider 4k disc.

#

In other words, I've made it to the Ts.

amber sparrow
#

What's your redundancy for when those drives fail?

silver fable
#

The physical media itself.

amber sparrow
#

Making this whole effort a moot point? doggolul

silver fable
#

Ehh... Sorta? I just bought the drives, so I don't see them failing anytime soon.

amber sparrow
#

Are they spinny drives or ssd?

silver fable
#

and once they're all ripped, it'll just be reading the data, which is much less harmful than writing.

#

I could not afford 80Tb of SSD. 😬 I am not that crazy.

silver fable
#

The drives have a ten year warranty, though, so not super worried.

#

and a pretty high MTBF, though I can't recite it off the top of my head. These are enerprise drives.

Need to wait for 64GB DIMMS, but we probably wont see better performance on AM5 unless they put out another chipset revision with Zen 6

There are no "best settings." Please understand that every setup, for every use case, will be different. Any guides or videos that claim otherwise are misinforming at best.

We recommend that you start off by using Auto-Config to get a baseline of where your settings should be; click on the Tools menu in OBS, select Auto-Configuration Wizard, and then just follow the on-screen directions. You can test and adjust from there.

they scrambled the dies up

copper notch
#

Xor is using an Arrow Lake CPU?

amber sparrow
#

Nope

copper notch

Not completely understanding why Arrow Lake is relevant then 🙂

amber sparrow

It's not doggolul

tall vapor

the joke is that it's not relevant to anyone, yah

sudden adder
amber sparrow
#

Apparently the largest pc parts retailer in Germany hasn't sold a single arrow lake cpu haha

tall vapor
copper notch
#

I suspect the only people that are going to buy them are dentist's offices, and non-tech-savvy people buying their kids things for Christmas and stuff like that, people who dod not watch tech reviews or follow anything. The store sees them coming from 10 miles (or kilometers) away and the salesman sees a mark to offload overstock onto and blam

#

Incidentally, I don't monitor the support channels... has anyone came in the server yet looking for OBS support on Arrow Lake? 🙂

tall vapor
#

ye, those are gonna end up in SI systems for the most part

#

Intel prolly had like a hundred retail boxes printed and that's about it

copper notch
#

Intel better be cooking up new marketing slides ... "Book new patients faster than ever!"

#

Although you gotta admit, it'll be kind of funny to see hardcore Intel fanbois having issues with Arrow Lake too. 🙂 Mixed feelings of humour and empathy. 🙂

#

They'll be like "Best fps in CS:GO!!!!!"

tall vapor
#

when asus says that they got xyz many boards ready for arrowlake... uh yeah the number of skus x10 = number of boards total

#

what a waste

copper notch
#

I think the problem is that Intel just ran out of magic levers to pull.

tall vapor
copper notch
#

They used to be able to just drop a wad of money to brute force some bad design out that was faster so won.

tall vapor
copper notch
#

But once they used all those levers and AMD came out with something better, they didn't have any more levers to pull. What are they going to do, 800W CPUs?

tall vapor
#

or something

tall vapor
#

honestly though if one could buy one of those electric heaters, for the same price as they always been but this time round you can watch some netflix on there too... think that that wouldn't be half bad, actually

copper notch
#

Intel's next big thing will be UT... Uni-threading. They'll cut core counts in half and increase single core speeds to 9GHz @ 800W 🙂

arrow lake is a dud

and will stay that way

#

this is a great interview with a intel engineer

#

they talk about stuff from a different perspective

copper notch

🙂

marsh helm
#

so making 200k is good

#

lol

#

he sounds much sadder now vs 2 years ago tho

#

he is saying the same stuff i was tho

that unless nova lake is good desktop is gone

i knew there was an issue

lunar lake which is their pretty good on par with amd setup

copper notch

It resets at midnight!

marsh helm
#

novalake is that all p core

#

or more of the same but some sort of a cache

#

its too far out to know

copper notch
#

I wonder what the core counts will be like

marsh helm
#

it might even slip to 2027

#

rumors say 40

copper notch
#

40 P cores in a consumer CPU?

wheat karma
#

Is it finally time for me to upgrade when arrow lake is on 50+% discounts soon

marsh helm
#

Nova Lake will succeed Arrow Lake-S in the desktop and DIY segments with up to 40 cores ( 16P + 32E ). It'll be fabbed on the Intel 14A node and ...

marsh helm
#

its still the worst option

#

it loses to my 5800x in some games

#

well the 265k and 245k does

#

it requres a new motherboard too

copper notch
#

With no HT... 3 gens out, so 2027-2028 likely. So by then AMD drops 16 core chiplets full cache and AM6 in Zen 7, with core counts of say... 8/12/16/24/32 in 1 and 2 chiplet packages, with 16-64 threads to compete with that.

marsh helm
#

amd is working on a unified 3dcache

#

so no ccd

#

well bigger ccd

#

no cache at all

#

on the cpus

#

makes each cpu core much smaller

copper notch
#

Well, I mean a 16-core CCD with 64MB of L3 cache, possibly unified across the die. But they also have the 32-core variant we don't know enough about yet too.

marsh helm
#

oh skelly XD i learned of something funny

#

amd has a 8 core server cpu

#

1 core per ccd

#

5ghz tho

copper notch
#

wut

marsh helm
#

its super SUPER SINGLEHTREADED

copper notch
#

They have Epyc chips that will slot into consumer Ryzen boards

marsh helm
#

yuh but thats not this

#

this is for clouds sims or something

#

some super specialized thing

#

i just found it funny

copper notch
#

finding new use cases for silicon defects?

marsh helm
#

i guess

#

its around 6k

#

not that expensive so why not

#

ram is still going to be 10x the whole motherboard plus cpu costs

#

which is why i feel amd is pushing more onto memory on die

copper notch
#

Here's a crazy idea...

marsh helm
#

AMD Ryzen AI 300 MAX PRO “Strix Halo” APU render leaked: up to 16 Zen5 cores and 40 RDNA3.5 Compute Units

copper notch
#

AMD bought Xilinx for their NPU and FPGA tech...

marsh helm
#

up to 128 gigs

#

of memory

#

coming q1 2025 i think

copper notch
#

so... I wonder..... future AMD CPU at some point with big FPGA on it, big NPU on it, and the AI running on the NPU reprograms the FPGA based on app needs

marsh helm
#

that is what amd said

#

would be in turin

copper notch
#

Yeah, saw the MLID vid too

marsh helm
#

but they couldnt get it to work

#

might be something for next gen server

copper notch
#

ohhh, I know what you're talking about... they had plans to be able to swap core CCDs with NPU CCDs, but nobody wanted them or something

marsh helm
#

thats intel

copper notch
#

were going to demand make them for customers, able to choose how many core CCDs versus NPUs

marsh helm
#

amd was making the npu have a full on fpga

#

but it would cost a lot extra

copper notch
#

ah, didn't know about that

marsh helm
#

nobody BOUGHT IT

#

lol

copper notch
#

I figured we'd have CPUs and GPUs with FPGAs by now years ago

marsh helm
#

so they killed it off

#

well even back with genoa amd has a little ai running

#

that optimizes tasks the longer you have the server running

#

it uses less and less power

#

thats what they want to do with turin

copper notch
#

Ohhh, are you talking about the Intel chip that they included that on and then wanted to charge customers subscription fees to unlock it if they needed it, but their marketing spin was a reverse of that "Don't pay for what you don't need"

marsh helm
#

but on a much faster pace

#

yeah i remember that bullcrap

#

man the fact that intel failed to even hit their super low target of $500 million

#

for their ai gpus

#

shows that they have lost all credibility

#

ppl arnt even buying their stuff to appease them anymore

#

also their ai gpus are just for tokens

#

they have very little ability to do training

#

tokens for generative websites to use

copper notch
#

You gotta wonder if they started using 3+ year old gen-AI to design their hardware 🙂

marsh helm
#

well i was upset when they killed production on their super apu ai gpu

#

when they fired raja

#

now look at them

#

they spent all that money for something nobody wants

#

and now amd and nvidia have doubled their RnD budgets

vernal current
#

oh i see

#

let me try now

#

ok its working but all numbers showing the same

#

last time i did this the numbers were all different

#

something is off

livid plover
#

how are you getting those numbers into excel?

vernal current
#

its downloaded from a site

opaque halo
#

it's probably your formula formatting. Check the formula for the first entry and compare it to the 2nd. Most likely you are missing a $cell somewhere

vernal current
#

there is no formula

#

its basically just a list

livid plover
#

either the site is exporting bad xls for you, or those are the numbers or you rounded them accidentally yourself

opaque halo
#

Also - would be VERY cautious about downloading a formula from a site. Things can be embedded in there

vernal current
#

its my website guys....

#

its legit

livid plover
#

can the site export as .csv instead?

vernal current
#

it is csv

livid plover
#

open it in notepad and check

vernal current
#

i asked the dev to make a list of items

#

but i dont remember now he made a big fuss about it

#

so he made it into a csv

#

which to me is even more complicted

#

when i opened the file 2 months ago the numbers were unique

livid plover
#

open it in notepad. it's literally just text. look at the numbers to find out if the site/dev is giving you dud data/a bad export, or you're screwing up excel'ing

vernal current
#

now they are all the same

#

ok ill try

opaque halo
#

sounds like GIGO

vernal current
#

what i get in wordpad

livid plover
#

there you go

#

go pester your dev guy

opaque halo
#

yup... BINGO 🙂

vernal current
#

what?

livid plover
#

no reason to piss around in excel when it's nothign to do with your issue

opaque halo
#

bad data export

vernal current
#

i had a feeling

#

he tends to over complicate things

opaque halo
#

they didn't send you numbers, they send you text that was exported incorrectly.

vernal current
#

how was it i was able to open the file before and see unique numbers then?

#

its the same file

opaque halo
#

dunno, my time machine is currently being repaired 🙂

sick cedar
#

maybe you overwrote the csv file with excel?

livid plover
#

it's a different file Shrug

vernal current
opaque halo
#

or file saved as .txt and not .csv

sick cedar
#

yeah, thats a good way to check

vernal current
#

ok ill redownload

#

1 moment

opaque halo
#

would completely delete the one you have before downloading

livid plover
#

where the numbers smaller than e-11 last time? maybe whatever is exporting is reformatting to sci now cause they got larger

vernal current
#

wow

#

i redownloaded and now its all unique

#

wtf happened?

livid plover
#

ask your dev guy

vernal current
#

i did make edits to the old file and saved it. Could it be I changed the file type or something?

sick cedar
#

all I can think is that it was overwritten by you in excel 😅 Or the website is giving you different numbers depending on something. Maybe it has a truncate setting? blobshrug We don't know the site or code

livid plover
#

saved with lost precision sure

vernal current
#

just so you know what i did

livid plover
#

check your workflow

vernal current
#

i just added a new column and added a name to 1 row

#

thats it and saved it

#

how did that change al the unique numbers?

sick cedar
#

heh, excel is dumb

#

it does the same for me. WHen I save a csv of:

240923000000
240923000000
240923000001

It stores:

2,40923E+11
2,40923E+11
2,40923E+11
#

well, its not dumb, you need to format your cells/cols, but still, not exactly intuitive

opaque halo
#

Excel is dumb. You have to know how to "talk" to it 🙂 I used it many times for auto calculations for long formulas. Was a fun personal project cause I got tired of flipping pages in a manual to get the scores for numbers during semi annual physical readiness testing in the military

sick cedar
#

formatted as a number, it of course behaves correctly

vernal current
#

i need to lay down

#

this made my head hurt

#

but thanks guys

#

its always ends up being simple things for complex situations

#

actually

#

if you guys dont mind, i need to vent

#

(has nothing to do with site)

#

i've been preparing something big for about a year or so and i just know that people being people will slow me down and take their time. Which is why i planned so far ahead to take that into account

#

then a family member introduced me to someone who could be a potential partner/help/whatever and i would go back to my family member and tell them i dont think this guy is a serious and i need to move forward, but for many reasons i cant get into, i had to wait things out despite me saying over and over that he wont sign anything

#

this asshole kept saying stuff like "1 more week" or "1 more month" and its been a year now and whatever head start I had has been gone now

#

just TODAY, a few days before launch, he finally signs, but after what??? all the stress he caused

#

thanks for listening

#

🙂

opaque halo
#

Life lessons learned 🙂

vernal current
#

you know what?

#

my family member sincerly apologized to me

#

he felt bad that he made me wait this long

opaque halo
#

That's good. TBH, mixing family and business can be tough.

sick cedar
#

that sucks 😦 I'm sorry to hear that

opaque halo
#

Depending on someone who's not dependable can be rough.

vernal current
#

to be clear, my issue isnt that he was an asshole and made me wait....its the fact that all the heads up i had was gone and i just had to rush things in the final few weeks for no reason

#

but i was in a difficult situation....i couldnt just easily back out because it would have made me look bad

#

if i want to get something positive out of this, is that at least now, my family member trusts my instincts

#

so i guess thats good lol

Okay so the "be good to granny" thing didn't work for moral guidelines. How about this:

  • Treat people with dignity, but understand dignity is a two-way street.
  • Don't start sh** with people who don't deserve it, but feel free to end sh** that deserves it
  • Be kind when you can. See Wheaton's Law.

I do routinely tell my kids "don't go looking to start shit, but if need be, don't be afraid to end shit"

Sometimes a bully just needs to be popped in the mouth. That shouldn't be the first answer, but sometimes it's the correct answer

civic quarry
#

might be the quicker solution in some cases but I am a believer there is always a non-violent solution when it comes to interpersonal situations

brazen thunder
#

I ended up raised in a "violence is always wrong" atmosphere (eg: if I popped a bully in the mouth, despite not starting the altercation, I was in the wrong), but I also admit it can still be very tempting

#

but violence for violence just doesn't solve anything, and perpetuates an existing negative cycle, from my perspective

drowsy mason
#

If bullies just want to see pain and conflict, they will win unless the system allows them to be shunned. I dunno what to tell kids, usually schools won't get rid of a bully and the cost to get them to even begin to consider it seems pretty high. So a bit of a gray area how to react to tall odds of it actually being solvable in any reasonable way. I'm generally non-violence, but allegedly only a Sith deals in absolutes, so.

#

or cancels it

I'll believe Intel hardware when they actually put something out on time and it doesn't suck.

marsh helm
#

yeah as i said yesterday

Sushi Kudasai

#

very good prices

#

soo much food

#

i quickly took this

#

most of the places around there were at min $30

#

seattle is dumb

#

this was just $16 i think

#

it also had big ramen bowls

silver fable
#

Doesn't look like $16. 😬

marsh helm
#

easy

silver fable
#

I can't even tell WTF it is.

marsh helm
#

prices in seattle are dumb and most of the food is bad

#

gyudon

silver fable
#

Is that just a giant plate/bowl?

marsh helm
#

anyways it was very tasty

#

i couldnt finish it

silver fable
#

Oh, so that was your leftovers.

marsh helm
#

yuh

#

it looked like that picture above

amber sparrow
#

That looks like a $16+ meal from a restaurant

silver fable
#

I mean, I do like a good beef bowl. That just looked almost empty, which makes sense, you already ate it all. LOL! Now, $16 for the before amount sounds good.

marsh helm
marsh helm
#

i wasnt even done taking off my coat

amber sparrow
#

And? Sure it'll cost you $4 to make at home

#

But you didn't make it at home

marsh helm
#

what no it was really fast

#

i didnt have to wait for like 15 mins

#

like most places

#

it also had a spicy sauce thing that was super spicy

#

and no way i can make that at home

#

i have no clue

#

is this a better picture?

#

my eyes are very blurry

silver fable
#

The last picture was fine, I just didn't understand it was a partially eaten meal and wondered why so little food was in the giant bowl. 👍

marsh helm
#

for the money i give it 10/10 clams

#

given that the japanese place a block away started at $28 for lunch

amber sparrow
#

Seattle isn't known to be cheap that's for sure

silver fable
#

Unless you want to live there.

marsh helm
#

oh thats why its soo expensive

#

some kind of fancy thing

amber sparrow
marsh helm
#

GoodMorning it sucks

#

also seattle is full of drug addicts tweaking out

#

got to be VERY careful

amber sparrow
#

Is it heroin central?

marsh helm
#

no

#

fent

#

and meth

#

and oxy

amber sparrow
#

Meth = hillbilly heroin

marsh helm
#

mixed together

amber sparrow
#

But im pretty sire seattle.has a tremendously high % of heroin users

marsh helm
#

well ive never seen ppl taking a naked shower in the middle of a sidewalk before

#

with no water

#

they on some strong stuff

#

nyc homeless ppl are just high

#

normal high

#

mostly just weeed

silver fable
marsh helm
#

yuh thats what the place is called

silver fable
#

Right, but it's also what the meal is called. 🙂

marsh helm
#

thonk i see

silver fable
#

and you cook your own meat/veg in a boiling broth.

marsh helm
#

so i do the work

#

and it costs more

silver fable
#

It's generally an all you can eat sort of thing.

marsh helm
#

ah so i would get ripped off

#

because my tummy smol

silver fable
#

and if you're like Kachin, and it feels like you are, you'd just overcook it, or undercook it.

marsh helm
#

doggolul what the heck is this

#

i also have a single benchmark that shows im better

marsh helm
#

heres my benchmark

#

blobsweats wtf is that

silver fable
#

Yup, that's Kick's ingest server.

civic quarry
#

marsh helm
#

#

i cry when i watch it

silver fable
#

marsh helm
#

I think i am having hard feeling to retire playing video games blobsweats

Feels like i have played enough games in my life

livid plover
#

gotta have kick back and relax gaming time tho maddiCozy

void gale
#

yes i only want to have relax gaming only

#

after lot of years now i guess i might start using any wallpaper instead of solid black wallpaper

livid plover
#

just stop playing games that stress you tbh

opaque halo
#

👆 This is what I did. Went to playing games I enjoy and finding newer games that are fun and relaxing (like MSFS). Nothing like getting done with work and jumping in a jet and just flying full throttle through mountains 🙂

prisma dove
#

I went from pc/console gaming to a more expensive hobby: photography/videography.

livid plover
#

oof, the big gear spendings

prisma dove
#

yeah, now I'm debating on whether to buy a NAS for all that data, or DIY an old pc into one.

livid plover
#

i bought a mirrorless camera and just got a bunch of leftover lenses from a friend lol

opaque halo
#

DIY - using FreeNAS 🙂

prisma dove
#

yeah, those old pc cases are big, and in the case of an emergency, I want to grab the storage and go.

opaque halo
#

Especially if you have drives sitting around not being used. The one I put together to play with had 22 TB

prisma dove
#

I don't have a lot of drives, and the ones I do have are 12+ years old. Most are HDD. All my solid state drives are in use as secondary/backup storage.

opaque halo
#

I had a couple of older 8TB ones sitting around. The NAS was more of a "learning" process for me to help with some base knowledge of NAS and how they work so I could understand more about what our storage guys were talking about.

prisma dove
#

This one will be purely for data storage and some automated backup. I wouldn't mind some cloud access, but I would want to reconfigure my network first, for security.
