Yea it's unfortunate that's a requirement for many things.
ooof yeah lots of ppl play illegal music and its going to catch up with them
it really opens them up for liability for pretty much forever
This resolution looks so freaking stupid hahahhaha
all videos are recorded and saved forever
and the bots scan all videos for music and sound effects
Yep
i was watching a streamer show one of them off
Ouch
it takes under .5 seconds
RIP career
to find it
and another second to file a takedown
or dmca
they dont need to do either
they could just fine your butt
So UMG uses those?
its around 3 cents per watcher per song
But without takedowns?
I mean, thats good, keep the copyrighted crap out of your streams
so they can run whatever on all content
its just that i dont think ppl understand that one day
these companies can just say hey you know what
we have 5 million violations of our work
why dont we send out 5 million emails demanding $500
I dont understand why everyone denied copyrighted music will get them in trouble
and if they dont pay up we will get twitch to close their account
they legally can do that
You must have known it was coming
Im a big fan of NoCopyrightSongs
I used their 247 Radio streams
a lot of the "copyright free" music is also a trap
they put out stuff they says its copyright free
with the plan to sell the label to another company
and then the new owner can send out 10 million takedown or pay up demands
its been happening on youtube a lot
theres this big meditation music label that did it and made a ton of money
I deleted the VOD with the 3 Claims. It was my fault for playing an unmuted stream and I paid the price by having the VOD restricted
if you dont have the license
I take that as a learning opportunity
you are in trouble
just be sure they are giving you the music license
or they can just sell the label and sue your butt later
Actually, I change my mind with that
And will treat all Music, copyright or not, as dangerous
and stay away from stuff on yt that says royalty free
Yes
yuh its best to only use stuff that claims music
for you
i havnt used these guys yet
i hear them mentioned often
I like it when the Flatpak version of OBS Studio used the Plasma 6 cursor on Plasma 5 ๐
flatpak ships its own environment, essentially
I noticed yes
And not to mention, it also comes with some labeling issues, like these unintentionally added Ampersands
Ahh
Why can I not search from messages from specific users in this server, I really need to jump back to the last question I asked to see if anyone ever answered it.
Cuz I need help
is your discord maybe in streamer mode?
Oh hey, it is! Thank you so much for that tip.
I thought I disabled it.
Who's QT?
Its the framework OBS is built upon
This specifically
Its also the same framework KDE Plasma, the desktop you see in the screenshot I am using, was made with
No worries
friendly reminder to re-read the channel description as well as server rules
I would like for the Pride logo to stay an Extra 5 Days please
if you feel that ignoring server rules is appropriate, I'm not the one that needs saving
<@&715347355565817879>
Anyway.
I'm fine with just leaving the pride logo up until like october at this point
or whenever even
Me too
7 extra days to represent the 7 days God made the Earth
Yes
poetic and thematic
i like the colors
OBS screenshot versus whatever another program is using to convert to SDR
reinhard is just.. okay... I also had set to 270 white point which I think around 240 is better to prevent clipping? but that's not the main issues I'm seeing here
wait, why did I not screenshot the original image and instead take another one of the game
that way you'd get the exact same frame...
wait, I got it wrong.. the higher the white point, the darker it will be
here's with 240 and also took a screenshot of the original image so it's the same frame
it captured the cursor
idk why I said "versus whatever another program is using" I know what they are using.. they are using BT 2408-4 to tonemap to SDR
Nah, keeps the potential random spam lower
When i record on my obs and look back at it i can only hear it from one side of my headphones, why is that?
If you need help or have questions about OBS, check out our #support-portal first!
@tall vapor You are gonna love this LOL. FreeBSD user tries HaikuOS https://youtu.be/wnEnXQW0TUc?si=MD_AD3nqxQIC6Crp
I am not sure its gonna go well for him
His testing rig is this Old Dell Optiplex
freebsd user
and I already don't care no more ยฐJยฐ
ok
It's not like I actually care abt haiku either, so
For me, those types of videos are interesting to watch. I just know the person WILL fuck something up
joke being that I sometimes catch myself thinkin of freebsd/openbsd/whateverbsd folk the same way that win folk think of lin folk, lol
Oh yes, saw that, noticed those
Cookie abt *bsd: "Nothing works here, hardware support is bad, applications don't run..... you're prolly only here cause lin stuffs be too mainstream for you"
Hahahha
Why? Just............why port Wine to a BeOS successor?
Source via Haiku Discourse Forum
I do not know how well this will behave
why not?
I really liked running those early builds of BeOS
The reason as for why they wanna port wine to haiku is the same exact one as is the reason behind why wine exists in the first place
Ok then, someone IS daily driving HaikuOS
people can indeed daily drive operating systems on which one can install a web browser, correct ๐
you can absolutely daily drive os/2 (well, one of the commercial continuations of it) too. Should you? No
but if all that you wanna use yer computer for is to be a way more annoying chromebook? You absolutely can
Chromebooks
ewwww
This guy does not know KDE's own De-googled Chromium browser, Falkon, is a thing on Haiku right? right??
falkon is more than just a degoogled chromium
Also using Qt Framework
falkon be based on qtwebengine, which in turn makes use of chromium
as for why that person didn't know abt it being a thing on haiku... well I dunno when that video has been recorded, but it sure hasn't been a thing for an actual amount of time really
nor do I know how good it runs, with haiku being what it be
webpositive (haiku's native browser) is based on webkit. Webkit in turn started out as a fork of khtml&kjs. Yeah, K. /that/ k

and chromium contains blink, which in turn is a fork of a part of webkit
ah ye, gets real funny once ya start lookin into webbrowsers
/me misses the days he used Camino, iCab, Flock and CyberDog
I never used Flock
despite one of my friends being a developer
the other ones I did use
I liked Flock early on, since that was also when most of the social media platforms were really picking up and their APIs were more open (eventually discovered to be TOO open on some cases).
Picture this... 5 boiled eggs diced up with bacon, sauted sweet pepper, jalapeno, cremini mushroom, onion, with ancho chili powder, garlic, coconut oil and melted butter all mixed together, with a slab of pork roast thrown in for good measure. No photos, they cost extra! Use the generative AI in your mind! ๐
And where is this? In case I want to check my AI mind picture against reality.
hold on asking Dall-E
Mostly in my belly. ๐
AI really gone downhill, now it's asking us to imagine stuff?
I really don't understand stream titles like "ur not you when streaming on XYZ platform, stream on Kick"
Bro
If I want to make myself look like a goddamn moron, hate raid a small streamer becuz its somehow funny and let money get to my mind, I would stream to Kick
In these types of situations - I personally just ignore and scroll on past.
I just got done scrolling through an entire "Browse" feed on the Lime Green platform
I felt nothing but bad for these streamers
Have never been on that platform as there's most likely nothing there for me.
I personally choose to avoid things like Kick and FB as there is nothing there for me.
Their whole play is, according to their community: "Kick should be the better Twitch"
I for one, somehow doubt that
claims like that.. just another reason for me to not even waste my time
Agreed
kick could have been the better twitch
except gambling, cryptobros and moderation failures
I even thought about the day Youtube sees its Livestream product failing, decides to shut it down.
If that does happen one day, I will happily return to Twitch
More worst, CSAM and SA shit
yeah, that more generally falls under moderation failures
Yes
You know its a extremely bad look when the CEO gifts subs for that type of content
I think one of the big problems is that when one looks at a directory of a category, or the home page on pretty much all of these sites, all they have to go on as to whether or not the given channel's content might be interesting to them is the category name/game name, the thumbnail and the title. Because the thumbnail can not be customized and uploaded or changed at will, it is a random frame from the stream and is useless more often than it is useful, except for certain types of content. The stream titles are mostly nonsensical garbage with useless info in them, especially at the front of the title, so you can't get any solid idea of what you are going to get by clicking on it, not to mention due to all the ASCII art, emoji and crap people put in their titles, any useful info that might be in them is past the truncation point and shows like "[EN/DE]--==[[ HYPE!!!!!! The ..." With extra hearts and nonsense on both ends. I'm not clicking on that, it doesn't tell me anything.
So 99.9% of streamers just waste the title, the only thing they have control over. The only thing they can put something in to advertise their stream and try to entice someone to click on it. Filled with inside jokes/memes, unimportant things, random words, things that should be tags instead of in the title wasting space etc.
I saw no point adding "[LIVE]" to your title
Then if you do decide to click on someone to check out their stream you're blasted with 2 minutes of ads and click <close> instead.
hahaha, yeah thats a good one too LOL
I'm glad I do the pre-roll suppression habit
On Twitch I use Turbo to bypas adds ๐
don't forget the red circle for the LIVE too, that's important.
- Its a waste of character space, 2. Youtube already tells the user its a livestream
On Twitch I use [x] close button to bypass ads.
Yes - adding a title to entice people but not making it look like clickbait is a fine line
looks like someone remembered that old snickers ad
hahahahah
Thats a classic
There are tutorials on YouTube on how to promote a live stream, YouTube channel etc. and do it the right way that works, without being annoying or scammy or misleading.
The Shorts feed is already getting abused
Kiddies abusing the Greenscreen effect to "steal" other Shorts in hopes to get clicks on their channel
I've found being active / involved with the community you want to stream to helps as well.
Language tags right up front make sense, but yeah you really need the space you can get in the beginning of the title and not waste it on HYPE!!!!!!!!
My rule is, if I did not send more then 3 messages, I am not allowed to self promo in servers containing self promo channels
I think due to my involvement in the community I was able to hit affiliate about 2 weeks after starting streaming.
My stream titles. I try and go for normal titles
tells you nothing as for what the stream is about, only lets the viewer know that it's late where yer at
Or things like "help me get to 10000 followers!" and stuff like that. The way humans work, is that we click on things that we perceive that we may receive value from, so any kind of promotion one does for their content should emphasize the value to the viewer that the viewer should receive, and it should be something a viewer might want. Promoting by telling viewers what the streamer wants isn't telling anyone what they're going to get out of it by clicking on it, so more likely to get ignored than clicked.
which is like.... yeah ok
Mine are more "targeted" - Slinging paint on minis and creating backstories for them
I know its an issue, I just do not want to use the same title over and over again
Too many people focus too much on what they want the viewers to do for them, rather than what they are going to do to entertain and provide value to the viewers.
I wanna keep it fresh
Agree - I stream for the fun of it and expect nothing when I hit that "go-live" button
Imagine if other businesses promoted themselves like a lot of live streams do.
Yup. A stream title should tell me what the stream contains. I couldn't care less abt how many followers someone has, I sure as hell won't be one of them if I never click in the first place.... which I only do when there's something interesting for me there. Marketing 101
"Come and buy a steak dinner at Rogers Steakhouse, and help us get to 100000 steaks sold!"
That's like as if a store went "Help us reach $10000 worth of sales today!!!!"
why would I care if Roger's Steakhouse sells 100000 steaks?
"Buy 10 burgers, get 20 free steaks"
Even when I stream I have the viewer count disabled. I do the same stuff regardless if I have 1 viewer or 50
nah, not an apt comparison. Cause that I would actually be interesting to me, and you're actually portraying a value proposition to the consumer. Something that might get them like actually interested
Also, people often reuse the title of their last stream without remembering to change it via a pre-stream checklist or whatever, and it is something unrelated to what they're streaming right now, or they change content mid stream and do not remember to update the title and tags etc. Plus, people spam tags that are unrelated to what they are actually streaming, making the tag system practically useless. Then they change to some other content that is not what the tags say also.
and advertising "giveaways".... sure.. you'll get a few more viewers and maybe some followers... who will drop their follow as soon as they don't win something
whereas those "help me reach 10000 followers!" titles only tell me to buy 10 burgers, so to speak
Now would be a good time to use that trusty Notepad thats on your computer to write keywords to use in your stream title
haha, yeah exactly
Keywords such as, what will you be doing in your stream? What in-game specific task are you progressing?
being particular abt the ingame task.... that's a bit too meta, imho
There will be a tag that was made for one specific purpose, and someone will see it and think of a way to realign the tag to their own meaning too.
So now the tag doesn't mean one thing, it means 500 things.
and only leads to you changing titles every 30 minutes or so, else people gonna claim that you don't show what they came for cause yer in the next mission/quest by that point
๐
"Defeating $insertnameofbosshere"
yeah okay.... and then what?
yup - see people use the "D&D" tag (which is something I'm interested in) - they could be playing BG3, Streaming a game, making dice, drawing a map, doing player character drawing or doing NOTHING about D&D
Maybe these streamers should look at marketing that does work for live sports events. Treat themselves playing games as athletes playing games.
Im always trying to keep my titles short and simple, Phone screens and character cutoff can make or break a title
I've seen people use the "blind playthrough" tag, which has a specific meaning, but they use it for performing a piece of music on an instrument for the first time.
Youtube gives you 100 characters to work with, so it better describe exactly what you will be doing
That's a big reason as for why I would put language tags at the end of the title these days
or like the fact that yer playing the NG+
When choosing tags, people should think to themselves "If someone searches for this tag or clicks on it, what exactly is the type of content that they are most likely looking to find" and if it is not their content then don't use the tag.
The "[ENG]" stuff?
Things like [EN/DE] (in my case), aye
But how people actually use tags almost universally is "How many tags can I spam on this with complete disregard to how useful the tag system is, so that I can try to maximize every possible chance that someone might click on my stream by abusing tags."
I see
not at the front of the title, nah. Because phones
Front of the title shall get folk to click in the first place
I honestly quit using tags as you eluded to.. they are pretty pointless
I've seen streamers of decent sized channels ask their chat "does anyone use tags to find content in the directories?" and get back almost all "no" or people saying tags are useless so they don't bother, then there's always that "one guy" that says they use them.
here is a title from a Ghosts Of Tabor youtube stream
okay so on my phone I'm only gonna see the red dot and FULL KITTED Ta...
Yeah exactly. The most important info is at the end of the title. The word "continuing" is unnecessary filler and might make someone think "oh, I missed previous parts of this so meh..."
the red dot is literally just clutter
Same thing with episode numbers in YouTube videos for content that is not a part of a chronological series that should be watched in order. It gives people the false impression that they need to watch episode 1, then 2, then 3, so when they see episode 8 they skip it because who wants to start reading a book starting at chapter 8.
Since I play Deep Rock Galactic, I am close to an in-game Promotion, now that I think about it, I could props go for Promotion Progress, Other game after
yup
the important thing is to have a hook
here there is no hook
ie yer being /too/ descriptive, imho
Oh yea, pulling the Can I complete my Promotion Progress? type titles
yeah, that's what live stream titles are sorely lacking IMHO really, a hook. A reason for someone to click on it.
I try and avoid clickbaity crap
it's a fine line
A lot of stream titles contain in-jokes or in-memes that a fraction of the existing viewership understands, but nobody else. Putting those in the title doesn't entice non-viewers to click on it though.
actual clickbait would be if the title made me expect something that just isn't in the stream/video, ya know?
Rock and Stone! is a meme inside Deep Rock Galactic
ie actual clickbait is a bait&switch situation
you not doing that? cool
Well, there are 2 types of clickbait. 1. Clickbait that coerces people into clicking on it and then intentionally or unintentionally fails to deliver to the viewer what their expectations were from the title. 2. Clickbait that causes someone to have interest or curiousity or to find out something, who then clicks on it and finds out what they were promised by the title, delivering on the promise.
#1 is bad and at least on YouTube is an unsuccessful tactic as the algorithm is too smart and buries that crap now for years.
yup. number 1 I am mad about, number 2 is just marketing your content to the intended audience
Here is a XDefiant youtube stream title
#2 is sometimes annoying but not always... but it works, because people mostly get what they were expecting in some way shape or form. But the creator has to ensure that they are indeed trying to deliver on whatever their promise was.
Channel names are always not included in these screenshots
yup. So don't make promises that are too far out there. Make a proposition that you can fulfull, but title it like as if it was hard to fulfill it if that makes sense ๐
also very much depends on the specific kind of content
The issue I am now facing is, I sometimes include CrowdControl in my Deep Rock Galactic streams
One YouTube channel I watch (Daniel Owen) usually has normal titles, but once in a while he will make a video called something like "OMG FPS!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!" with no context of what the video is about but it sounds like it might be related to some new video card and getting a high frame rate in games or something. Some viewers complained about him using lame clickbait titles like this in his videos, and he brought this up in a Q&A type video and showed people the behind the scenes YouTube analytics statistics for his videos, and showed how every video he put clickbait titles on like that scores way hard greater number of views and view duration, and he makes a lot more money from them. So not doing that means he'll make a lot less money for doing the exact same amount of work. He doesn't like making lame titles like that but the analytics do not lie, nor does the paycheque.
Now, I have to find a way to shape the title that explains what I am doing with CrowdControl on Deep Rock Galactic
His videos are quite good, and deliver useful information that is well thought out, and even though the titles are vague on those ones, you can guess pretty close as to what they are about if you watch his stuff enough.
okay yeah, that title is just garbage. But yes, people will click. What I wonder abt when it comes to that title is how many of the clickthroughs actually stay for longer than like 20% of the video
that says a lot about human nature too
Yes, that is why the video has to deliver what people expected, or something that they will consider good value.
A lot of people hate bad or good clickbait titles, but then they also click on them a lot too and wonder why they keep using them. It works.
how is this for a title then?
There is a browser plugin called DeArrow that optionally replaces YouTube thumbnails and titles with crowdsourced ones that people who usee the plugin vote on. So you can get non-clickbait titles/thumbs on many videos by using the plugin.
Sponsorblock is about to break cuz Youtube is testing Server-side Ad Injections
which is exactly what is tough when yer casting /THAT/ wide of a net
Meaning, ads gets parsed with the Video
ugh
Im still not gonna pay for Youtube Premium
yeah, it's breaking just like ublockorigin broke like a hundred times in the last year or so
They'll have to disable skipping and speed controls for that to be effective.
that cat&mouse game between youtube and ubo has been going on for years upon years upon years by now
no one knows what effect it will have on ad revenue
which spoiler, ad revenue pays jackshit
I have a plugin for YT that automatically speeds up ads 16x while muting their audio, then restores the speed/audio after the ad is over. It turns even the longest ads into 1-3 seconds of high speed video that the player can't really keep up with so you see like 2 frames and silence then it is done and skipped.
Counting on income from streaming is a balance as well as VERY unstable
there'll always be identifying marks to ads, always. The endgame will be that your computer will analyze each video that yer watching and yer gonna skip the ad that way
cause what you can't hide is that the ad does indeed look&sound different from the actual video, no matter how embedded into the stream you think it is
Another factor is not wasting your money on dumb stuff me looking at myself
is somebody here German?
There are many Germans here - but support is done in English
hey look, I found an actual usecase for those AI accelerators/NPUs that companies are building into CPUs now
enough of us can interpret. If the black screen guide didn't help you resolve the issue, the last step is to post a log, in the channel where I linked you the guide
no because my OBS is in German and my English isnt that Good
Someone will just make an AI ad blocker that detects ads heuristically or whatever, crowdsources people to vote whether it did a good call or not, gets smarter each time etc.
Exactly that.
many of us can read it, because features in OBS are in the same place, even in different languages.
That will fail badly as AI is prone to misinformation
it'd be a highly specialised model.
but i am dumb and dont understand the last Bot help
not like chatgpt ๐
Or copilot
then head back to that channel to continue this discussion.
Or Llama LM
The AI ad blockers can provide useful usage statistics like "Number of ads blocked", "Amount of time saved not having to watch ads", "Number of dolphins killed from AI induced carbon emissions" etc.
think of what I'm proposing as machine learning powered sponsorblock
instead of users tagging the start&stop of the ad/sponsorship a machine vision model will take care of that

yeah
Like the OCR feature in ShareX
that way it can be done on a user's machine locally, and bam youtube can embed them ads into the videostream wherever they want and it's still gonna get blocked
And it can detect the ads across multiple videos by seeing a video cut to new content where the content is something it saw before in multiple other videos. It can use clues as exact length of segment, audio volume changes, as well as converting the voices to text and keywords too.
yup
I don't think that better adblockers is what google envisioned whenever they were hyping up AI stuffs, but heeeeeyyyyyyy
It will suck for the case of downloading videos though if they have embedded ads.
But then someone will make some AI YouTube video downloader minus ads addon
or website
that's gonna get taken care of in minutes, yt-dlp-ai fork created that does the same thing as the browser plugin does
not exactly rocket science once that kind of adblocker exists
๐
the model&all doesn't care whether the video be in a browser or wherever, why would it
and if everything goes south.... oh well, electron powered yt-dlp here we come
or Freetube
yah
another example
I think the other program's tone mapping is pushing the gamma up too much.. but besides that, it looks miles better than what OBS is using...
which is which?
left is other program HDR>SDR conversion, right is OBS with white point set to 240
and gamma is easily fixable in post.. that's really the main issue I'm seeing here is it is too darkened
but the OBS one? colors are gone.. can turn saturation up but that doesn't really bring them back.. brightness is gone... can't really recover that easily..
almost looks like as if the other program is usin the full sdr colourspace whereas obs is set to limited, no?
or am I being silly here ๐
Oh gawd, I'm super tired and been reading a lot of AI related stuff.. I read your comment above and read "gamma" as "gemma" and was trying to figure out how what you said related to the Google Gemma LLM
I need to go to bed, seriously
but yes, the obs output also has a green tint to it
but the brightness is butchered as well
I could try turning the white point even lower (so it clips at a lower point and makes the bright parts brighter) but... you do start losing detail... and I think 240 is about correct? it's just not doing a good job..
ngl I never messed around with HDR things, so.... good luck
I just wish OBS was using the tone mapping algorithm of the other program.. I don't think any amount of tuning will get it even close.. a lot of information is altered
while just a simple gamma adjustment would pretty much fix the other one...
I tried white point 200... not really any better and more detail is clipped
I guess it's called "white level" not "white point"
that makes more sense
the SDR tone mapped version of this when viewing in SDR is worse
can barely see Alan now
especially in Firefox.. Edge is a little better
and of course, Edge doesn't view in HDR properly either... turns the brightness waaaay down
that's how it's supposed to be versus how Edge is viewing it
Im going to be honest and say Youtube's Notifications are dogshit.
Anyone who tries to convince me otherwise is a moron for believing in the PR shit Youtube spews out
Wut
Off topic, but the Kick app still has a long standing Notification issue which prompted me to stick Youtube as well
Im so frustrated that I cannot even properly watch a stream/video and the very first thing that fails is sending notifications
I cannot begin to mention the amount of times I had to clear the cache and data, yet the same issue persists
less ranting, more actually mentioning what you think is wrong with them. Thanks
cause now I be wondering
I go to a Channel, I click Subscribe, I clicked Turn on All Notifications, I see Notifications permission is enabled for the app, Channel uploads a video, I expect a notification, I do not get one
At least it's just Kick
Kick isn't a video streaming service. It's a marketing funnel for Stake
kick doing kick things?
kick the kick things
Gambling addictions can be hard toโฆ Kick

I only brought this topic up with Oscar because it's something I'm very knowledgeable in figured might as well help him learn something that he wouldn't learn unless he went into the Radiation field ๐
My current hobbies are Blender, livestreaming (very occasionally) (I need a good schedule so baddd), I'm learning how to use a camera, and I could probably do YouTube if my ADHD didn't stop me from editing the VODs

Get a hobby

Lol
I need to put my 40 gigs of RL clips to use. But I'm a lazy POS

So scared that you don't want me here In the corner of the living room Reading subtitles, 'cause I can't hear The show you put on for noise While you're laughing in the kitchen Pourin' drinks over ice And I am not the type to go out every night 'Cause I just need some time To know what's wrong in my head
Can you not? Nobody wants to listen to Eminem
Woaaah woaaah there there with the hot takes.
It ain't 1996 anymore, let's move forward LOL
Erhm, he didn't blow up till like 3 years later
can confirm
Tbf, his track infinite is pretty neat.
Which is technically from '96
But that was before dre.
Also, "nobody wants to listen to eminem" about one of the highest listened to artists on spotify seems.. just wrong
Shhhh, don't remind me of numbers LOL
Mans a dinosaur in the music game, like ancient at this point. Yet he pulls 120m on a track on youtube in a month.
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
I think he pulls views from a different demographic now vs his early career.
I actually think it's much the opposite - his demographic probably haven't changed. Those 90s/00s kids are still listening to him.
Good thing there's more than you ๐
I deny this
Yup. I understand nostalgia. But you won't catch me streaming Paula Abdul on Spotify LOL
80's kid, young adult here when he broke out, but his latest material doesn't resonate with me anymore.
I grew up listening to my elders cry about how "music isn't good anymore" and I resolved never to be like them. Always trying new things
<hides the Paula Abdul entries on his most played list, 2023>
Ever listened to Tally Hall?
I mean its probably the same for every gen. Parents going to see artists they listened to when they were young.
Don't think this is Eminem unique at all.
it took only "drill rap" for me to turn into my parents with regard to saying that
Because Opposites Attract?
Is that those youngins with the bad teeth and face tattoos?
You cold-hearted snake
straight up
Now now. don't Rush Rush to judgement
We all could just dance like there is no tomorrow
but... the choice is yours
I miss Paula and Simon and Randy, together every week.
hands you a cane
Paula Abdul, Randy "Macho Man Savage" and Simon & Garfunkle were amazing together
Now tell me is it gonna be you and me foreva oh oh oh
All depends on the State of Attraction Matty
Are you just having fun do do doot do
I thought I was caught in a hit-and-run...
Might have been Xor - cause.......Opposites Attract

a group of viewers and I spent about 2 hours "trolling" a fellow streamer with song titles and lyrics.. the earworms it generated was hilarious for everyone
so apparently Edge uses SDR content brightness level to map the brightness down.. which is stupid

Says*
Ask Discord support, then
When you buy discord nitro do you get it automatically
Or have to wait??
Usually you have it immediately, but I'd really ask their support
I hope I am not getting scam
I bought it off mobile
So I have to buy it on pc?
Do*
Do you get your money back if you end the subscription
Ask their support
Arch Linux is a terrible choice for beginners. Use Ubuntu or Debian, but not Arch Linux when starting with Linux as a beginner.
I see that frog and I'm already noping
"if you guys know the best OBS settings for Linux, let me know"
I am fucking dead
There are no best settings
I am hurting just by watching this
My entire existance hurts by watching this
And the worst part, he uses Nvidia
no, no, im not watching it further
There were SOOOO many mistakes made in the video
...what tf are you expecting when someone who has never been on the side of the penguin has their first go, esp on Arch?
Of course the entire video is just one big pile of fremdschรคmen ๐
You do not ALWAYS have to use the Terminal to install the shit you need
That is what Software managers are for
on arch using the term is the recommended way to go, esp for packages. The packagekit integration on arch is notoriously broken, after all
But... But.... But.... Manjaro is beginner friendly right?

We'd be better off if manjaro just dropped off of the face of the earth

Hi
@prisma dove Hey dude, just making sure I don't @ you in the wrong discord channel. You should be a moderator in this server after all these years, you know your stuff sir. You're a great kid
I'm just an enthusiastic user and volunteer. The moderator role is kept for those vetted by the admins of the server and OBS Project. Moderators are for moderating the server. I just want to help people enjoy using OBS.
Why don't you get the volunteer role?
If the admins want to give me the role, they can. The role isn't necessary to help people, and I definitely don't know everything about OBS or how to solve every issue.
Ah right fair enough buddy, I didn't think you had to be the sharpest tool in the box to have that role, thought it was more of an effort thing. You would definitely be a good moderator tho, you have the right things for it. Good attitude, support & lots of free time etc. You should give it a go
I don't want to moderate people. Already do that on my guild server and a couple others. ๐๏ธ ๐๏ธ ๐๏ธ
What is your guild server about?
World of Warcraft guild.
Oh fairs, I see you got VB audio in your bio. Not sure if it's the same thing but I use a VB-Audio Hi-Fi cable and VB-Audio Voicemeter software to get good audio in some games I play
yes, the VB Audio server is the official Discord for VB Audio products like Voicemeeter, the Virtual Cables, Matrix, Spectralissime, etc.
Sending what?
the discord
Can't share discord links in this server. But the link to the VB Audio server is available from the VB Audio or Voicemeeter websites. Or just search servers in Discord.

geez Streamlabs is slow for "Technical Support" in their server
you could always use obs instead :3
Community Support = Best Support
Most of streamlabs support in their server is community
Yeah, but we're still better LOL
It's like, uh... how do I put this... streamlabs community support is fortnite playin 13yo kids helping other fortnite playing 13yo kids by providing all the "BEST SETTINGS!!!!!" and well when that no worky yer a noob
Sound like the last kindergarten class at the school I worked at
Okay so why hasn't anyone made a surface duo esque device yet where one screen is eink and the other is oled
I heard there was a smartphone like this, with the e-ink bits used primarily to show persistent text like the current time, but it didn't get popular.
basically what I would want is like an ereader&a normal tablet in a single device, not just a cheapo smart band that's been glued onto a regular phone
I mean that's basically what those were. A regular phone with an inbuilt pebble
those likely died out cause oled is pretty damn efficient already, esp when only showing a bit of text on a black background
Which makes sense. They used an eink display for that case that's what was available, not cause they actually wanted to use eink for something where eink would excel
most of what we do on a phone on a day to day basis is text stuff. Lemme use an eink for that stuff&the oled for when I want more than that
but again, not phone
phone's rather terrible for reading a lot of text, and that's not just due to the display
it's that goddamn aspect ratio, too
but tbf... I kinda want more applications of eink stuffs in general
okay so, I got an idea
oled displays are like, uh, transparent
a fact that is being made use of more&more
with like under screen fingerprint scanners, under screen cameras and such
it's all very much not perfect, sure
but I wonder if we might reach a point where you can like layer an oled ontop of an eink
unlikely to get any good results from that, to be fair
but I had to throw it out there cause that thought would've continued to haunt me otherwise
Im taking this too far but i just wanna add some eas to obs for livestream purposes.
add some what to obs?
eas? expressive auditory selections?

I've decided to rewatch Severance. 2nd times are always great to find details you missed in shows and movies
I'm gonna wait til closer to ssn2 and rewatch
Just finished watching Poolhall Junkies(for maybe the 100th time). Such a good movie. Christopher Walken at his best. One of my all time favorites
Nice. I'll do it then too haha
Christopher Walken is the greatest
Every frackin time you use "ssn" for season I first read it all out in my brain as "social security number" then correct myself.
S2 or S02 please
Haven't seen that one, but Walken is great. Will have to check it out.

Hey guys!
I'm looking for a firefox extension, that lets me set different folders in my HD to download things to, based on which site they're coming from. Is there such a thing?
firefox already does that natively for me?
no I mean that when downloading from a site it does it the the folder I previously downloaded for for that site
no idea, sorry, I'll look around
set it to always ask, and then also set browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite to true
without always ask it won't prompt you to select a folder in the first place but rather just defaults to the default download dir
But after the first time (for each site) it'll stop asking?
Cuz that's just as bad if not
no, it won't
Yeah then that doesn't work.
I need like a matrix thing where I can set it and forget it
just have to press enter on the prompt?
That can't be done with a plugin as it overrides browser code
Goddammit. Surely someone's thought of this...
It's just super damn annoying, I'm downloading a million tracks from Epidemic Sound, and it's horrific having to go in and keep moving them between folders
might try https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/free-download-manager-addon/, it does say " helps you organize them in an easy manner."
plugins can provide their own download funct, but yeah replacing the default browser download funct ain't possible per se
that's a point where a dedicated download manager would be preferable over, say, the integrated browser thing
I'll take that. Got one to recommend?
you want somethin with a gui&prolly some browser integration too, yes? ๐
yes
Back in dialup days this was commonplace
I remember good old "DownThemAll"
Lol
Hey. That's still a thing, it might do this.
yah, downthemall is available again after quite a long time of not
thanks for the reminder btw, I thought it was still dead ๐
Hahaha awesome
Hmmm it uses filetypes, which is alright. But not origin <-> destination
The search continues.
Epidemic sound is annoying. Doesn't let you download multiple at a time and you have to click a file, change from MP3 to WAV and then click download. One by one.
There's gotta be a smart macro thingy to do this.
a lot of these download methods are so you cannot download a lot of stuff at once, usually
purposeful on the part of the website owners
No, I get that.
But as with everything in the wonderful internet, someone at some point just goes "fuck this, I will do what I want" and figures it out, right.
with some judicious application of javascript and a userscript manager you could probably fix that
esp the "change from MP3 to WAV" is probably easy to do
This sounds promising...
I need it to crawl the page, click each track, pick WAV, click download.
Do this for the whole page, change pages, do it again.
and crawling the page, in this day and age, may require the crawler to execute and parse javascript, since not every page is static from the server
Yep. Hmm.
Anyway thanks guys!
Iโve written lots of scrapers and itโs very rare that you canโt make do without running js
Rob - lurked in your stream yesterday. Was a great distraction from work chaos ๐
nice, saw ya there but forgot to say hello. gonna be jumping into some Once Human today, but after playing a brief bit last night to make sure things would run fine... eh, today might be the only day i stream it. We'll see
I get it ๐ Can't always great everyone individually.
Jdownloader 2 might already have a plugin for it
cant remember which A.S.S. game i was playing at the time. Was happy to find a few more "good" ones yesterday
If not, post on their forum, super responsive and kind devs to adding stuff
Be My Horde is what I got to see mostly...and some of the "train survivor" one
gotcha. Yeah, Choo Choo Survivor and Be My Horde
Be My Horde was refreshing. Too often there are many of "also ran" games that just kinda dip their toe into the genre, but dont get what makes the good ones "good"
and for Auto Shooter Survival games, starting the player out super slow and underpowered even for the first couple of waves just misses the point
you need to feel crazy powerful, until that first "wall" hits you. In "Death Must Die", that wall is every blob in existance, lol
completely understandable. I haven't played many. Mainly just do old school FPSs
Is Choo Choo Survivor based on Choo Choo Charles?

On the next episode of: My friend being a nightly software tester: Installing Chrome OS Flex on an old laptop
He tried asking me what recording/streaming software is available for Chrome OS Flex..........I said I do not know of any
I'm just happy to know that they're your friend, not mine
I find his hobbies interesting
He streamed with OBS in Beta Mode, tried to game on ZorinOS, and now he tried doing content creation on Chrome OS Flex on an Old Macbook
I get wantin to play around with things, do it too. Bu5 ChromeOS? Oh come on now
I still think ChromeOS is useless and super limited
If you want a ChromeOS-like experience, go use LXQT
An Linux Distro you can ACTUALLY do stuff on
I don't see a reason to anything chromeos, bogstandard desktop lin is right there
Plus, there is zero high quality streaming apps for Android
Let alone ChromeOS
And then he also tried ReactOS
Like......listen, stick to Windows, where everything works for you, and stop wasting time trying these strange Operating Systems
hey look if reactos was actually better than it be I could see it being useful in situations where ya need old windows
just like freedos is useful when ya need dos for some reason ๐
that's actually interesting to play around with tho, just like haiku. "play around with" being the point, obv. ChromeOS ain't even interesting in that regard.
and oh, that reminds me that I wanted to play around with redox
Lemme get Gnome Boxes and try SerenityOS
Ok, nevermind, no public available ISO
Wait, lemme fetch the latest HaikuOS nightly and experiment with something
Aha!! Thats how they made Haiku's "Taskbar" to look like Windows's Taskbar appearance
it's in the wrong place, though. Fix it!
Nahh
ew
Open Source!!
Anyway
I think I finally found the perfect time for me to stream
I noticed more people tune in at 10 - 11AM my time
Meaning, it leaves me with my own stuff to do
openshot runnin on haiku, that's what that is
The port is not official. Its a community managed port
The same thing with Minecraft on Haiku
same thing with minecraft (the og minecraft, not badrock) on android
aye. Once ya got java up and runnin yer good to go, basically. The fact that minecraft didn't commit the java crime of embedded x86_64 machine code helps, too
cause yeah, there are java applications that come with non java portions
I always thought of Bedrock as the C++ Version of Minecraft
I mean it makes sense to have perf critical parts done like that, but still
Because I have heard of a C++ Minecraft before
it is, but I don't consider it to be minecraft
well
it's minecraft
but it's not what I think of when I think minecraft
lol
one randomly kills you, the other one doesn't
the former being badrock, the latter being java
one actually feels right
which be java
hate that they call it "java edition" nowadays
no
it's not "java edition"
it's literally minecraft
/THE/ minecraft
if anything badrock is the one that's an edition
My explanation for the version is Java is Monjang's Minecraft and Bedrock is Microsoft Minecraft
yeah
I mean I do own minecraft badrock on android. Didn't pay a single cent for it though, thanks google play rewards lol
So, Microsoft makes a greedy data collecting version of Minecraft?
who could've thunketh
Microtransactions and no* modding
yes, microsoft makes the version of minecraft that only works on one out of the 3 common desktop operating systems
Im on about the Bedrock one
so you just reworded what I just said
.
Ahh
I thought you were stilltalkin abt java
cause yeah, the actual minecraft is supported on all 3
I am seriously bad at explaining things
happens
but yeah. java is the one that works on all 3 common desktop operating systems (which be the 3 that be officially supported) and works on others too if ya want to make it work
badrock? Whelp, it works on your phone. And on your computer, if windows
badrock works on lin computer too if ya run the android ver, lel. Albeit unofficially
The "Minecraft Bedrock Launcher" found in the Software Manager dont count I suppose
That one fetches an APK file from Google
not in regards to officially supported, no
the mcpe launcher as it used to be called is pretty much a, how do I put this..... some sort of a very minimal android that runs on yer sys and on there mc runs?
so it doesn't just "fetch an apk file"
Thats called a Low Level System I think
not even that. pretty much just a set of libraries, just enough to make bedrock work on a normal lin sys
On Linux, if no Graphics Driver is installed, a LLVM (Low Level Virtual Machine) runs to display.....something on your screen using Software
no
that's literally not what llvm stands for
I mean yes
it does stand for that
but
LLVM is a compiler toolchain thingie.
that's it
I see
your mesa/radv? That's also compiled using LLVM
Interesting
mesa also contains software rendering drivers, which are used when you don't have an actual driver
that's p much how that whole setup be worky
So, since I am using Intel Mesa Drivers, what am I actually using to play games at a acceptable framerate?
I have no idea
you just said it yourself
"intel mesa drivers".... that's the central blue box in that graphic. the one labelled "mesa3d"
๐
Ohhhh
the DRM thing it connects to is the direct rendering manager, got nothing to do with the DRM that we don't like ๐
Ahh
amdgpu (the in kernel part) is at that DRM spot, basically
A new Paper fork arrived
it gets worse, how nice
How worst?
paper do be breaking lots of things. And like.... perf wise you can literally do better with a normal server /w fabric/quilt that got some basic mods
Oh damn
but I guess where paper has an edge is in terms of the ability to strip features so hard that you can press 200 players onto a single server that be hosted on some dell optiplex from 2012. There might not be much minecraft there no more at that point, but eh commercial server operators be happy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjjXYrMK4qw (not promotion, just an on topic video abt how paper breaks things when it comes to minecraft)
I dunno why, but I just am not assed to download Minecraft from the Microsoft Store
Just go straight to downloading Modrinth, slap Sodium on there with the Minecraft Install and just play
Just that one video alone, makes me want to pick Fabric as a Framework
For a time they also gave all windows Java users the bedrock version for free via a code. I believe these days if you buy one you get both.
the bedrock you get when you buy java is the windows one, tho
i got that one too, cause they handed it to all java owners as they thought that that would make folk switch to it. Hah, no. I ain't even got a windows machine anymore
Yeah ๐
Funny enough there is a server plugin that allows connecting from bedrock to a Java server, but consoles don't just allow arbitrary servers. And the user name handling is separate
Bedrock versioning is also entirely separate
Yeah like I think actually connecting to the servers works via a proxy/custom dns? So you tell the game to hop onto "hypixel", but no actually that's not hypixel at all but rather a server chooser menu!

it can, but in my testing it was highly dependent on the selected proxy. i tried a list of 3, and the only one that worked was an Australian one (ie. near me).
I think it's absurd they don't let you do manual servers in console version of bedrock.
only PC (assuming mobile is the same as console)
yeah, back in the day when it was called Windows 10 Edition, as a Java owner I got a free copy to redeem from the MS Store.
Nowadays if you buy one you get both I think, and if you have Game Pass you get them as well.
so.. I'm about to do something crazy... to possibly help out with those Streaming / Recording of MC. Where's the best place to start with installing and learing about MC???
NOOOOOO!
first, just install it.
second, play it.
If you care to start messing around with mods, I recommend Fabric these days but some mods depend on Forge instead with no Fabric version or alternative/similar mod for Fabric.
Mods can come from two primary places:
CurseForge and Modrinth.
If messing with third party launchers you're on your own.
I promise.. less than 3 hours and it will be uninstalled. Just wanna check out the video settings pretty much
Install it from the Microsoft store?
or from the Xbox app if you have Game Pass
while yes, absurd, I think this is a platform restriction?
it's the Launcher specifically. You still need to then install the game from the launcher.
If installing Bedrock it's just the one install.
If doing Java edition you get to choose the version of MC you want first which is also how you load mod loaders like Fabric as they install like a MC version and you select it from the list to load it up.
I only have a Xbox 360 so would be using PC version. Is game pass required to play MC?
360 version is entirely separate from PC version and not crossplay compatible.
Ok. Think I'm just gonna do what I've been doing and suggest they drop their video settings when running on tater computers

Where did you get this photo of my PC?
From the makers of Itanium comes "Intel Potanium"
plug it in and instant tater tots
granted they will be on the floor, table, walls, ceiling....
flip the switch and listen to it spudder
just mash it all in there
If it's from Intel, it'd probably end up as fries. Then they'll spend months silently trying to hash it out.
Game pass is not required. Just that if you have game pass you don't have to buy Minecraft. Otherwise you have to buy it
I just ate like 3/4 pound of slow cooker pork roast for breakfast and man... that was the best breakfast ever.
Even though it is almost 10pm. I know, I know.
You're gonna shit good tomorrow
A double flush triple coiler no doubt!
get some fiber powder in you, stat! dont let any of that pork go to waste
it's all about the output
And Minecraft doesn't really have graphics options. They have two modes:
Shit mode and nice mode.
Decreasing render distance puts less load on the GPU because less voxels to render
But you see less
I thought it was Java and Decaf
Technically there was salt, pepper and garlic powder on it, so I'm covered.
It's called "fancy" graphics.
Which are the default graphics.
"Fast" graphics are more bland and simplified with things like tree leaf blocks being solid with no transparency and reduced sprite animations and stuff
Glowy lights in bedroom: check

i have an alt account on Twitch like 95% set up for viewers of my main channel; is there anything i can do to deter people i dont know from following the alt without setting Subscriber Mode?
@rough kayak "People you don't know"? Twitch is a public platform, there is no feature for unlisting a channel or a broadcast. You could stream on Youtube as an unlisted broadcast, or stream without a category, or stream to a private platform.
my response to the first part of that message is if Twitch didnt have exclusivity then Sub Only wouldnt exist, but as for the second part, it isnt so much that i want the stream hidden, its that i dont want people unfamiliar with the alt account stopping in.
Follower Only mode maxes at 3 months
Twitch has no such features, you'd have to stream elsewhere for that.
Since it is a special content meant for existing regulars etc. that you do not want to grow from randoms, YouTube is a much better place IMHO to host it because YouTube lets you have unlisted streams, unlisted videos so you can put VODs on a playlist (and I think unlist the playlist too and just share it on Discord with your community). You can stream up to 4k60 51,000kbps which is 8x the bandwidth of Twitch so way higher quality, and YouTube gives transcoding to all streamers, not just partners. One caveat though, which is on Twitch you max out at 1080p, but if you stream 1080p on YouTube it will look like absolute blurry lego blocks garbage. You need to stream 1440p or 4k native, or upscale your 1080p to at least 1440p on YouTube in order to get a higher quality codec and higher bitrate there. Other than this little quirk, in terms of quality and viewing experience YouTube is best for this type of situation IMHO.
thank you for the info!
honestly even in terms of my main account, the only thing stopping me from multistreaming to YouTube is the fact YouTube has a crap emote system, and i last checked in 2022
but this alt account is not Affiliate, meaning no emotes

Devs should just keep AI out of games
The bundle showed in the screenshot is AI generated
This is fucked up
sounds real if any of the recent news is anything to go by
i was thinking
i think intel cpus will just stop being supported if you have those two gens
some games will just have issues sometimes
very few ppl will ever update bios
they will just nuke themselves
BIOS updates are not that difficult nowadays.
true but we are the minorty
yeah it's so much easier than it used to be
most have no idea how
and with redundancy, you can even mess them up and recover.
laptops install BIOS updates automatically
It's as easy as updating drivers, almost.
i wonder if the microcode updates will reduce performance
i hope amd fixes their issues
seems like there was some packaging issues
or that arrow lake has the same issues for power
Why do you keep watching these obviously painful videos? ๐คฃ
Oh, I sure hope so
Just so I can roast the dumpster fire that is Windows
I mean...
It also works on Apple ARM chips so I will exclude that game
Whats wrong with a compatibility checker website?
Because thats what I tried to send
Maybe it's not compatible? ๐คฃ
Hahahahha
Good one
Alright Fun Pimps, lemme see the "Improved Vulkan Support" you guys boasted about
Game seems to run smoother than it did before. Don't remember if I switched to Vulkan, though. Can check in about 10 minutes.
I am about to
of course it will, like all the previous microcode updates has
Seems very likely IMHO, if the CPUs are getting overvolted sometimes to be faster, that restricting that and pulling it back is going to limit performance. Between that and speculative execution security issue mitigations dropping CPU performance, I have to wonder how many AMD vs. Intel benchmark comparisons are done with all of the security/problem mitigations in place to see the true performance of all of the CPUs. Otherwise people are buying CPUs based on 1st party vendor claims that aren't true after all of their security and stability mitigations are in place. Really misleads people into buying the wrong thing IMHO.
well we will know in about a month
but looking at the papers on what the issue is
i dont think you can microcode fix it
only really slow down the damage on new chips
Yeah, not the oxidation issues
and slow down how fast it dies on older already damaged chips
its a common issue according to a few videos i watched
in the industry
If they're lucky. They really need to do a recall IMHO. This is far worse than the F0:0F bug or the Pentium bad math bug from the 1990s.
its going to cause issues for years
if you put the lower wattage in place thats already going to cut 20%
yup, and will probably put a lot of people off of buying Intel again.
20% is an entire generational uplift
and in the future ppl will bring this up as a reason not to even test the unlimited voltage on any intel part
that may be why we are seeing such low scores so far from arrow lake ES leaks
send help to #windows-support , my attention span can't fit all these people and their issues
its capped to 253
They nuked the top Arrow Lake chip which was supposed to make up for the loss of hyperthreading too, so it'll be interesting to see how that pans out.
so for the K
its 125W!
253W is just boost
at least they will suddenly become far more power efficient
i took too many people at once, i feel like my brain is expanding, and not in a good way
I seriously don't get why they're nuking SMT2 off of their chips. Like as if they don't know that it's great value for die space when it comes to, ya know, doing things
But ig they can get some perf back by clocking them even higher!
oh wait....
There are a few reasons from what I understand. One, is the security history of SMT + speculative execution is a horrible nightmare in general but many times more horrible on Intel CPUs, and the mitigations nuke performance significantly. It seems every time they fix one issue hackers find 3 more. I forget the details of the other main reason but IIRC the crux of it was that it introduced a slight performance hit overhead on the chip as a whole and increased latency while also taking up some die space, and Intel at least claims to believe that eliminating SMT now both frees up die space and security problems, and allows them to make the remaining CPU dies faster and lower latency, and that using E-cores they claim will be a better overall solution than hyperthreading was overall as they both ramp up the speed of E-cores and the number of them, and then also with their new "rentable units" feature coming out in the future. All that remains to be seen as to whether it was a good idea or not.
spec exec ya do anyway, be it with SMT2 or without
Now.... if ya don't properly clear yer stuff on context switches&such... yeah, that's where issues come in
The security problems are due to speculative execution in combination with SMT, not just speculative execution on its own.
And trying to find and fix all possible security issues typically adds more silicon and lowers efficiency anyway from what I understand. It is good to experiment with other solutions to see what works out better, but I wouldn't say that Intel is winning any awards in that department in the last few years.
whelp, I'm excited to see the first sec issues with arrowlake
cause they undoubtedly be comin
There were murmurs of potentially going to 4-way SMT in years past but I guess that did not work out well in prototypes or whatever so is dead now IIRC.
SMT4 and such is exclusively seen on PPC, iirc
Well, at least the common path of past security issues is gone so hopefully (for customer's sakes) there are none.
Hopefully Arrow Lake does not have any major flaws or issues as their last several generations had one way or another, as they wont be able to sustain constant setbacks forever.
the "issue" is that folk are now actually lookin into sec stuffs, after meltdown&all. Intel gets issues, AMD gets issues, ARM stuffs gets issues...
yep, but when you look at the big picture they are not equal in number and severity and performance loss caused by mitigations. Intel has a greater number of issues with greater performance impact in their mitigations.
Now see that's something where ML stuffs could also come in helpful, as in when it comes to checking over stuff to make sure that there's nothing obvious. CPUs have become so goddamn complex that no human could ever understand it all
And then you got people that focus on making subcomponents, and each subcomponent on it's own is perfectly fine..... but as soon as ya stick them together to make the actual cpu? Whoopsie
undoubtedly they're already using it, but yeah. Needs to get better
It no doubt points out the obvious stuff already, but yes
Obv not saying that we should go back to CPUs without branch prediction without no anything. That'd be ridiculous
Some people do be saying that, that we should go back to "proper CPUs"... uh, iirc the last "proper" CPU was the 486, wasn't it?
I wouldn't mind that
those things are cool
let's go back to playing Tyrian and Sim City, things were fine back then
how do i make my quality 936p60 Source

yah no. I was poking fun at the silly people that think that we should still be making "proper" CPUs that can be used for what we expect these days. Uh no. That thing would be the size of yer entire computer most likely and it's power consumption would be measured in terms of "a couple kilowatts"
Hang on, let me spin up the fission generator so I can show you my spreadsheet

Found his insta. It's pretty damn clean
Just observed in the backyard.ai Discord server that their support channel, whenever someone posts a new message, it automatically creates a new thread for each inquiry, and it seems quite organized for managing multiple simultaneous support issues without them intermingling. Pretty neat way of doing it, but custom bot I presume. Not sure if it just does that for every post or AI determines if it is an inquiry or what.
Scrolling back many pages it seems each post causes a bot generated thread, with no discussion in the main channel, so that seems to work well. Never seen any software with a setup like that on Discord but it seems like a pretty cool way to do it.
a VueJS server I go to has the same thing.
Still looks like it would be a pain to moderate though, since mods would have to enter each and every thread to make sure things are on the up and up
yeah thread moderation has not improved ๐ฆ
but we do get mod views for profiles now! those are neat
oh really? how do you access that?
They seem to do ok there, but it isn't massive volume.
yee, i wouldnt want to see what happens if Twitch's ingest servers crap out and a flood of "what do i do" comes in. Each getting an auto-generated thread. I dont want to put that evil on @wise bay
thanks ๐
Not sure if something like this would work well on a large server like this. Backyard.ai seems to get about 4 support requests per day on average, ranging from 1 to 8 or so.
crawls back in the hole, leaving behind an item that looks suspiciously like a stick of dynamite..
same with the VueJS server
It's more intense here, and a lot of PEBCAK issues and dupes.
Well, that blows...
@wise bay how do i add a transparent live chat in obs

This is a support type question. Head to a support channel ๐
The bot does not respond to questions. It's triggered manually by commands.
Holy F. Just battled a heater install that took me 3 damn hours. I've probably sweat off a couple lbs
But you won, right?
I ALWAYS win. Sometimes I lose a piece of my soul in the process though
Now on to install a new salt system for a richie pants at their 8 million dollar vacation home
geez
I just installed a salt system too. A half teaspoon of salt in my mouth. ๐
Well well well Intel, you have been cooking I see
hi

Seems to be something going on with Twitch's South America ingest.
I blame the Olympics
