shows me a pile a poo, which is what I usually get when I walk my dogs.
Weird. I see the picture just fine. It’s of my dog with his Kong.
yeah, shit's fucked
I’m quite sure that what mine needs to go deposit.
I step away to feed my dogs and let them out in the yard and Richard all in here acting up and Papa's encouraging it
Oh hey Boneshooter! 👋
Howdy 🙂
I don't know what you're talking about. We are acting like civilized gentlemen.
Alexa just told me the low tonight is expect to be 13.
Oh my gosh discord. The react emoji for "thonk" is the missing image symbol.
maybe different formats will work?
And then Discord came flying in with CDN issues.
https://i.imgur.com/fPTa7sO.png It doin' so good. -w-.
guess we "standby" for another update push.
I guess they could make the iOS version even worse than what it has become.
for sure. This is why we refulse to do any updates at work on a Friday 🙂
I see the iOS Twitch app has another update for me.
Legit.
updates are fun
Even more fun a major releases that have been thoroughly tested in UAT and then die completely after just a few minutes of production. But alas I digress.
webp just loads the sad poop image
in discord it doesn't load, but this time when opening in browser, it works
The last one that's a webp image loads but for the JPEGs I get The web page at https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/... might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
They probably have webp on different infra or they're somewhat separated. They use webp for the emojis so it would make sense
https://discordstatus.com/ It on here now, owo.
And they say its been resolved. Let's test that.
It goes! OwO! Also your picture shows up now. -w-.
Installed for unrelated reasons (testing stuff), but noticed its install path. Wasnt there a whole rebranding due to conflicts a while back? Mostly wondering why default installation is still the old branding name, anyone know?
Compatibility reasons.
Ah, okay. Ye wanted to make sure it was all good 👍
I think if it shows that, you had it installed previously at one point so it's reading a reg key, iirc.
No, freshly installed PC
Literally wiped it 1 month ago and only had OBS installed (This OBS)
Actually, do you happen to know what reg key this would be? I can confirm this theory or not (as I have still not installed it yet)
I don't know, just vaguely remembering conversations from years ago, I might be mistaken
hmm, Ill do a bit a digging fro you, if you want I can ping you with anything I find?
No need really, I can confirm that our relationship with SL these days is a very positive one, and we've moved past it
Ah, good to hear that! Ill still dig a bit as I am interested personally (caus any excuse to dig in registry is a good one 😂 ).
And to add extra info, it indeed looks like it always will install to "C:\Program Files\Streamlabs OBS" for compability reasons (confirmed on a VM, and checked registry keys) 👍
Some remix of Pokemon game music
Acoustic guitar and Electric guitar
which one is better?
Pallet Town
My first edited YT video has finally broke 100 views!
Still has a ways to go to catch up to shitty weird bird cellphone video, tho
I went for low hanging fruit and posted the foundation season 1 intro when I couldn't find a high quality version. I think it's still the only one
We're almost up to 200k views
Nice work! Find a need and fulfill it. Great strategy
HALLO!! FAM happy Caturday!!! 😻
Happy long holiday weekend if you get one
The problem I'm facing is that video recording in OBS Studio using the H.265 (HEVC) codec on an AMD Radeon card takes place at 60 frames per second (FPS), but when importing this video into DaVinci Resolve it displays as 30 FPS and you need to convert the video. It is very long and unpleasant. How can someone suggest how to solve this problem?
If you need help or have questions about OBS, check out our #support-portal first!
3 Day Weekend for me! Yipee!
meanwhile i am working through all 3 of those days 😦
Ugh. Been there done that. I once got on call duty over Thanksgiving and ended up working 12 hours all four days.
Hope your shifts are uneventful.
oh they are guaranteed be as eventful as possible, currently in a long process of rebuilding key software that we unfortunately have lost. disaster recovery for weeks at least...
software predates git?
yes
git doesn't matter if your company does not adopt proper change management processes that use it 😄
the best explanation i can give is that the company i work for was a very cheaply/poorly run local business who got bought by a larger corporation who then hired me.
well with git you'd at least have decentralised copies of the software available
assuming it wasn't worked on by literally no one
even git can't save the repo if no one had it checked out and the server hosting the repo goes up in flames
tbh the current situation we are dealing with is being leveraged by me/my bosses to probably implement a lot of this stuff
oh yeah absolutely
coporate time can move slow though.
tbh I sometimes let things break
so I can use them to go "see we need X because otherwise this shit happens"
I work Sunday and Monday, but get 8 hours holiday pay and get paid 1.5x for the hours I do work, so win?
I work and no bonus pay, I lose?
Hello everyone I need help... Please help me, I ran into a problem when recording via OBS. When I turn on recording or something similar, the mouse cursor disappears in games. Please help me with the problem. (P.S. I'm from Russia and I don't communicate well in English. I translate everything through a translator)
Sorry
No worries.
is my ccache too big
depends on how much compiling you actually do
and if you're running out of disk space because of it
i compile a decent amount, but i'm not sure if it's the sort of thing that just piles up forever and i haven't touched it in like 10 years and so worth cleaning. disk space meanwhile is always at a premium for me :p
the good news is that if you nuke it, it'll regenerate as you recompile each project
Looks like you already have it ^
Hm, interesting
We have pride, we have halloween, we have holidays
But we've been missing paisley all this time
It is a good blue
hi
guys check this OUT
Did you make them?
This just seems like you downloaded the midi and choose slightly different synth presets
hi
Hahahahahaha
That hit my funny bone for some reason LOL
is the flickering DLSS artifacts? sure seems like it
happens with RR enabled and disabled.. but appears differently... and also happens with non RT lighting/reflections
I guess I could use DLAA to test... next time I open the game I will
probably a ray reconstruction artefact yeah
How about this?
Self-advertisement or advertisement for others is not allowed on this server unless it's directly relevant to a discussion or question. Please read the rules in the #rules channel.
But it's still happening without.. it just appears differently
You can see that the same spot right as I switch becomes affected
that's because ray reconstruction just solves a ray tracing problem differently
Although, this doesn't seem like DLSS.. I don't know what is causing it..
I didn't capture but without RR, there was no flickering.. but the partial duplicate was visible the whole time.. so it was still there, essentially
Oh, @amber sparrow just bought another arcade cabinet, and have put Dragon's Lair on my must have list.
Yup, up to five now, not counting the dual sticks I can plug into any TV.
I'll have it Thursday to put together. Have enough that I cleaned out the extra bedroom to make a home arcade.
and here's the Dragon's Lair I want. https://amzn.com/dp/B0BDC7MRDJ
Comes with Dragon's Lair 1 + 2, and Space Ace. I suck at all of them, but never could practice when I was a kid, since money was a bit tight. Never fun when your game lasted five minutes.
Dragons?!
Rawrers!?
Smoker fired up and pork shoulder rubbed and on
And of course the other one on this listing would have NFL Blitz
Prob one of my favorite arcade/n64 games of all time
Blitz was soooo much fun
The only thing keeping me back from reliably having N64 fun on my PC is deciding between a N64 usb controller or getting a N64 to gamecube output since I have a USB adapter for GC controllers.
Honestly the n64 controller was kinda dumb ha. GameCube roller much better
N64 tried to be fancy, owo. The weird shape is because if you hold it by the outer handles, you're not supposed to use the analog stick or the Z button, and it feels like an old digital controller. If you instead hold by either outer handle and the middle (pretend middle and right for this example), then you don't use the L button or the left D-pad, but you do use the stick and Z. Now it's a right-handed analog controller. Vice-versa if you hold with the other two handles, owo.
I understand it's usage. But it's still kinda dumb
They tried to be innovative and gimmicky
Tis the Nintendo way
Dreamcast controller continued the gimmicky ways. Was kinda cool, but very much gimmicky
Game cube controller after still had odd nintendo "innovation" but was mostly more functional
And then the wii. 100% gimmick but played perfectly into what it was designed for. Getting people involved in the games they are playing, not strictly sitting their butts on a couch/chair
You call it gimmicky. I call it "accessibility" and "transitional". Some game devs wanted digital, some wanted analog, Nintendo gave both, and made it work regardless if you're left-handed or right-handed.
I thinknif it was truly able to improve accessibility it's design would have stuck
I think they designed it to deliberately dissuade developers from making games for the D-Pad. Like it was there but the design language clearly stated the philosophy: stick or die
it was a neat system
It was indeed. I enjoyed my many countless hours with n64 controller. But it was still weird ha
I still have palm burns.
Mario Party is the most competitive sport title in human history, change my mind.
i have good memories of recess being waasted on excite trucks
and the tourette guy tried to teach me starcraft 2
They even made gloves for folks that got blisters from it
Yes.
Long shot, but has anyone here watched a video which showcased PC/GPU yearly costs, factoring in electricity?
I don't remember who made it or what the video was titled but I'm trying to find it again.
It had some really nice info and insight.
I'm mostly only finding mining related videos which is not what I'm looking for.
This little piggy went to the market
You know grills are cleanable -- right Matty?
Yea I'm just lazy haha
I get it.. I clean mine with fire 🙂
Many hardware reviews do watt/fps or other efficiency calculations nowadays. The other isn't really a viable figure to calculate. Get a wall meter and measure your own system/useage
Isn't that where all the flavour is tho?
That's my thought(aside from the lazy factor)
Yeah, that watt/fps is something I've seen more often. But this was more about actual savings and how much you'd pay yearly etc. Yeah obviously it's different depending on each person's system and where they live, how often they use it etc, but it was still quite a nice video to point to.
It's mainly my curiosity to remember what that video was that's killing me 🤣
Youtube offers a history of your viewed videos, owo. Have you checked there?
Ah nice idea, I have history off though
Ruined.
The flavor of the grill is probably better than the flavor of Matty's meat.. That wasn't kind. Matty's meat always looks delicious
So I need some headphones and I want to get the HD650s but I want to try them out before spending that much. I want the headphones asap so I'm thinking of getting some AKG K72s in the meantime. Anyone tried the K72s?
It looks like the k72s have a pretty bad frequency response. That's what I get for looking at what hi-fi
Maybe Sony MDR-7506?
I saw the ATH-MX30x but those just give up at 5kHz 💀
God those look awful, both. Holy dubstep tweeter-shrill cans
Not even the same target curve either 🙂
These are the other two I'm looking at
Or I could just yolo it and buy the 650s
The 770 pros could probably have the highs eqd down a bit but they have that hearing damage 4k drop
Getting close
Still dirty. 😆
I'll throw the roller thingy on it when I pull the pork
on the rare occasion I do clean my grill - I've found putting a shallow dish of ammonia in it overnight and sometime cover with a large garbage bag then it just pretty much wipes clean.
Cooking can be a dirty job
This isn't about matty - it's about his grill 🤣
So that's how you dispose of the evidence.
shh.... 🤷♂️
Let me guess, there's a pig farm "conveniently" next door too
nah.. but there are many empty fields and swap... there is also a goat farm about a mile down the road 🙂
Just call Wu
Wu?
Call you-doubleyou-you?
hi
I'm old and slow 🙂 You "kids" and your interwebs
Spiritually, I'm 75.
Wise beyond your spiritual age 🙂
I want to die rn.
I just spent 30m recording a podcast with someone and I forgot to record it and now they're busy
Whoops. Best to test things with a short run before the full recording. I do a quick recording before streaming just to check things
Checklists or I wrote a little script to open the things I need help tons as well
I have one button I have to click every time now instead of 10 individual things to remember
For sure -- I have my "pre-stream" check list that's a lot like a pilots "pre-flight" check list 🙂
There's always the meme of forgetting to unmute as well
sadly.... I guess..... I have a command in my chat that sends an audio alert that people can trigger if I'm muted.. which normally happens when I take a 5 minute break every hour
Everyone I know does it
and.. back up your OBS 🙂
... You're right I should do that
I back up to 2 locations - a second drive as well as to my Google Drive. I also check "restore" occasionally to be sure it works. Nothing like have a bad backup.
I've also started keeping the installers and zip files for the plugins I use in the root folder so it's easier to recover/reinstall/check for updates
And rename them all with the version name on download
Yup. I have backups in folders / zip files with dates
ASS threw a conniption when I went to 30, so rebuilding things taught me that lesson
I used to have a NAS that I backed up to but decided it was easier to back up to Google Drive then try and keep that old beast running.
Seen so many instances of people doing backups and when they need them they find out it's not a full backup and essential files / etc. are missing.
I think I'm going to shift off of drive (Google/one) and try and figure out filebot and then replicate to back blaze
Most of what I have isn't "critical" but the stuff I deal with at work is 🙂
Time for you to watch Deadwood
I just lost everything that wasn't critical because of a "temporary" issue, so I'm on that kick of cleaning up my act
Deadwood, good show
Just watched the original "Omen" trilogy. Truly a masterpiece
Tried to watch Deadwood. For some reason couldn't get into it. Might give it another try 🙂
Re-evaluate your life choices
Next you're going to tell me True Detective season 1 didn't grab you
I believe at the time wife was deep into Deadwood and I was starting on the BSG 🙂
Deadwood was a GREAT show
fine.... I'll give it another look 🙂
Don't get me started 😂
So much of that is just a reboot for me at worst
The glory of a simple scene collection
My scenes are simple too. Either BRB, showing a screen or two cams (face and desk). I do use voicemeeter (going to move off it eventually). I do a quick recording to be sure things are working before I hit that "start stream" button. It's been a while since I've streamed so will need to probably dump VM and get on to something easier to use and take that out of the equation.
I haven't streamed this year 💀
I think I streamed twice or maybe 3 times last year - previously I was on 3-4 times a week with a longer one over the weekend. I do miss it 🙂
Between work, home life and some mental health issues - my hobby time took a hit and that's what I was streaming. Slowly getting back into my hobby and ran a D&D game last night after a 4 month hiatus 🙂
I started streaming last year. So I did like 5 or so and now I'm trying to find time to, while doing school, and also trying to find a good, easy video editor to edit down 30 minute - 2 hour streams
Speaking of which, know of any good ones? I tried Davinci Resolve but that is waaay too complicated lol
I don't do recordings. I just live stream to Twitch
it's worth it to learn
I've still got it installed so I'll look up some tutorials on how to use it. If it's still too daunting then plan B is to find a more simple but capable editor and learn that, then carry my skills over to Resolve if I still want to use it
there are many really good tutorials on resolve on youtube
owing to it being free
and blackmagic themselves in fact have a very good video tutorial series
that I recommend you start with
Cool thanks 👍🏻 I'll do that tomorrow
I know I've posted this before but I highly recommend using SoundVolumeView to manage audio devices/levels in Windows
Being able to set and restore a profile either to verify levels are correct or to reset them when they're goofed makes life way easier
[ ] turn off any lewd game mods
If you're looking for the most basic ass editing that's akin to movie maker, you can try shotcut
How does it "compare" to eartrumpet? Easier, more intuative, etc.?
It's basically setting a template you can enforce to keep volume levels the same across devices
Whenever the profile loads it ensures the correct devices are set as default and all volume levels are correct if they've been changed, that sort of thing
I've never used EarTrumpet and religiously avoid setting app-specific volume levels because that complicates everything
How'd you make this list look so fancy? I want that too.
The skills aren't transferrible. The real knowledge floor in any editor is always how to work with that specific editor's UI. Learning a new one means totally starting from scratch every time. If resolve feels too difficult to learn now, that will almost never change later, either.
I've heard good things about losslesscut (if you don't mind only being able to cut on i-frames) and about openshot. I don't have much experience with either. (Literally none for openshot.) -- I use ffmpeg as my editor. Believe me, you're better off with resolve by comparison.
disagree
almost all (if not straight up all) NLEs have the same basic setup for how they work, and skill in using 'an editor' lies in how to use that concept
the specific UI of one editor vs the other is more of an implementation detail
it's like being able to draw using a pen or a pencil
I can't even get resolve to trim a clip. Neither can a lot of other people. Learning how to trim somewhere else, won't help one iota.
same concept, slightly different
resolve isn'ta "clip trimmer" type app, it's a video editor
it's meant to take multiple videos and produce a new one
if you want to trim a clip use avidemux or losslesscut, which neither are NLEs
but whether you're using resolve, premiere, final cut, kdenlive, shotcut, avid, whatever, the NLE concept is basically the same everywhere
I know how to use Sony Vegas. I can't even do the most basic operation of trimming a clip inside of resolve. I think this should be sufficient to demonstrate my point to like-minded neophytes.
I haven't used vegas so I can't comment to its clip-trimming abilities
It can trim fine. It can also handle importing media, moving clipped clips around, and adding transitions. I can't do /any part of any of that/ in resolve.
I expect it's more work to use vegas for that than avidemux or losslesscut though, unless it specifically has a "clip trimming" feature built in
NLEs are generally meant to produce new videos, not change existing ones
I think we aren't able to fundamentally communicate at some layer here. I don't know how to resolve this.
I see what you did there
... That was an accident. XD
I would also recommend not looking at the conversation as something to be resolved
NLE's are not junp-in-and-do-quick-edits freindly without having some base understanding of them, no
I mean, in order to resolve the communication gap.
yeah that's not what they're for so they don't make that a priority in their ui
I am saying /that was not my goal, you are over-simplifying/.
like technically you can load up a clip, trim it, put it in your timeline and export the result in any NLE
Resolve: I cannot import media. One time, I figured it out by sheer accident. When I did, it took me another /four hours/ to figure out how to get two media files, crop their durations, and add a transition between them. I think that's NLE-land at this point. Over four hours to figure this out in Resolve.
Vegas, I got it in about 60 seconds.
Okay let's make this easy, Kachin is saying his skills in knowing how to do something in Vegas do not translate to being able to do that in Resolve
Squid is speaking more to the general concepts of video editing and using NLEs that transcend specific applications
maybe vegas's UI vibes more with you than resolve's does, but it did not take me 4 hours to get started with resolve
I mean that's always possible
I'm also insisting that there are no universal NLE concepts that /usefully/ save time to transfer across to other editors. I already knew Vegas when I tried resolve. Despite this, it still took me 4+ hours to do the most basic thing I could think of in Resolve. I think this proves rather firmly that the skills aren't transferrible.
Then just be sure to qualify that as how it works for you personally
tbh I think that's n=1 statistics
resolve didn't work for you, knowing vegas, that doesn't mean it works for no one
Survivorship bias, owo. The other people who tried resolve first and gave up with it, aren't touting their inability to use resolve. I think it's far more than one case.
You can't speak to that though
but in theory using vegas would have taught you about using a timeline with multiple layers (I assume it has this), audio tracks, etc.
So unless you're prepared for [citation needed] narrow your scope
I can fumble around resolve decently enough but HATED vegas
all things that power the basis of every NLE
[citation needed] on resolve being easy, then. I can throw it right back at you.
It's also rather more difficult to prove a negative, see russel's teapot.
I never said resolve was easy, it's powerful software meant for professional users. I said it was worth it to learn and that there are many resources out there to do so
Sky's the limit for sure
so for me the combination of resolve:
- being full-featured,
- commonly used by industry professionals,
- based around the common NLE concepts,
- having lots and lots of excellent learning materials available online for free and,
- being available for free itself with a feature set easily exceeding what most people would need
is why I generally recommend it to people looking to get started with video editing
All seriousness, just so I can maybe feel less crap about myself: How long did it take {$you}, personally, to understand resolve enough (with or without help) to get to a point where you can import two media files, clip them, and add a transition between them?
idk it's been a while, maybe 45 minutes?
again blackmagic's own video tutorial series is excellent
This is something I need to learn how to do in any program
Preferably not Resolve, because I'm lazy
Even if it's the right tool lol
Not being able to do what I consider to be one of the most basic things, made me feel like I wouldn't be able to understand the software even with a tutorial, and removed all of motivation to even try to learn it. xwx...
making a different choice is perfectly valid
If at first you don't succeed, uninstall
that's not the modern way
if at first you don't succeed, pester someone on discord until they just do it for you
Ugh transitions
Always a nightmare in premiere to do those
So inconsistent it feels like
I do usually have to pull up a tutorial to re learn something in resolve if it's been a minute since I've done it. But yea, there are a shit ton of resources to re learn stuff(or learn initially) pretty quick
I remember the first time I tried to stream to Twitch with...FMLE? I had no idea what I was doing, failed miserably and got so mad I uninstalled it, deleted my Twitch account and sent them really angry feedback to go fuck themselves with their garbage service
My logic's deeper than that.
I decided after, that I could try it in ffmpeg. I figured it out in about ten minutes, and can do it in about one minute now. I figured that if I have to watch four hours of video tutorials to get to this point in resolve (remember, I'm /me/, so I'd also need information on how to get it to export in a way that I approve of, how to handle colors internally, and many other things), I'd have to need to edit 40 projects to make it worth the time just to break even. I don't think I'll be meeting that in my entire lifetime. Realistically I think maybe 2-3 for my entire lifetime is about right.
lol I don't think I've ever heard anyone say anything good about FMLE
Doesn't resolve have an option when you first install and run it to change it's UI to be more like other editors including Vegas?
Knowing resolve hotkeys(which there are a shit ton) is 99% of the battle
uh, I think so but it's mostly about rearranging docks?
I already know how to operate Blender about 10%, I don't have enough room for resolve's hotkeys. D:

This sounds mostly like you grossly overthinking it
Buuut
Use whatever you want that gets the job done obviously
"Fuck Resolve I can just do this in FFmpeg" is more impressive than you think
Movie maker should just make a comeback
love me some white-text-on-blue-background titles
They should call it:
New Super Movie Maker
I figured if it took me four hours to blindly grab around and figure out the most basic things, I'd probably be able to do it in 15 minutes with a tutorial. But also finding the tutorial, and relevant points in that tutorial, will take me like an hour collectively. Figured four hours to learn what I need based on this, since I want "incredibly basic operation", "export like a bauss", "color management like a bauss", and "sync (a'la Rocket)". Four topics, four hours, owo.
@cunning pine do you work for nintendo
Thank you.
If I did I wouldn't be advocating for it being called that
This is called learning though
are you sure because that is exactly what nintendo would call such a thing
Sometimes it sucks or takes too fucking long
ahem, New Super Mario Brothers U
ffmpeg -ss 11.483 -i 2023-06-07_14-13-32.mp4 -i G:/7.flac -acodec copy -vcodec libx264 -preset veryfast -pix_fmt yuv420p -movflags +faststart -crf 23 -filter_complex "[0:v]crop=w=1040[viddy]; [0:a]showcqt=s=840x880:text=0:r=60:bar_h=200:axis_h=2:count=1[colorsyay]; [0:a]aresample=resampler=soxr:precision=28:osr=96k,showwaves=s=800x200:mode=cline:draw=full:r=60[waveywaves]; [0:a]showvolume=w=200:h=80:r=60:f=0:o=v,crop=w=40:h=200[volvy]; [waveywaves][volvy]hstack[a]; [colorsyay][a]vstack[b]; [viddy][b]hstack[out]" -map "[out]" -map "0:a" G:/WO.mp4
This is called "sync tracker in ffmpeg".
I wrote it from scratch without a reference manual in about ten minutes. Intended use is to open the footage it produces in mpv, and use ,. and . to go frame by frame and watch for obvious visual sync triggers that line up with waveywaves, owo. If it doesn't match, you can manually count frames to find the delta, and it's easy to then apply that as an offset to -ss and -t in later commands. -w-. (ffmpeg accepts arithmatic operations inside of parameters.)
Except I'm talking about Microsoft not Nintendo
whoosh
You know, I wanted to post a gif in response to the whoosh, but stopped myself cuz I remembered I'm not allowed to
I can post things!

...Also seriously thanks again, being not-told that I'm a loser for using ffmpeg as an editor is weirdly liberating. I kept harping on myself over it. xwx...
if it does what you want it to do, it's a valid choice
In my head, everyone was secretly thinking "man, what a loser, guy can't even learn a GUI". <w<'
so long as you aren't exporting the frames to individual files and then individually blending them in photoshop to make your transition and then re-encoding the result you're good.
For the complicated transitions, that actually is what I do.
Print out a sheet of paper that says "It's probably in your head, you should ask" and tape it somewhere visible
Omg this paper's in my head!
Now tape your head somewhere visible
Somebody mailed me a Christmas ornament of Kachin taped to a wooden circle on a metal rod. I suppose I can tape that somewhere visible, owo.
I find the whole gui vs non-gui argument odd. I like gui, if you like non-gui, cool!
Super Movie Maker Woooooondeerrrrrr
oh yeah I still need to play that game
Yes, do it
I bought it and then forgot all about it
Do you still play Splatoon?
occasionally
Wait that's a real game? o.=o? Super Movie Maker?
I got bored of it after a couple of seasons, with the shit maps :/
Super Mario Brothers Wonder
Oh. Darn. I thought they finally made a sequel to their coloring thingy.
I don't mind the maps really
but you know I've played that game for what 8 years now?
S3's maps are just so … chokey
Well, Mahi-Mahi got reworked so it's a tiny bit better
I mostly play fortnite now
I loved S1 and S2. But I haven't played S3 since, like, the fourth Splatfest
the last time I played was two games because I was trying to play fortnite with friends and it was down for a bit
but after those two games it came back up so we switched to the game we were intending to play
I need to find a game to play
I've been on holiday for four weeks. I played a little GTA V for the first time, because it's one of the free games on PS+, but it bored me shitless pretty quick
Very quickly realised the game is a bunch of repetitive set pieces separated by mindless driving between the same few points ad nauseam
and then I came back to it late last year and really enjoyed the rest of it
Well, I'm holding on for GTA VI, I plan to give that a go
Hoping that the past decade of gaming might bear some fruit in that regard
have you played cp2077
lol I figured you'd say that cause it's kind of like gta but set a hundred years in the future
The simplification of the upgrades system might make it less tedious and spreadsheety
Yeah, but with so many more interruptions!
that game also btw I played it when it came out
then I kinda lost interest for a while
and then last year I finished it and ended up really enjoying it
One thing I enjoyed about GTA V … once I wasn't in a mission, I drove to the other side of San Andreas and explored everything, made a bunch of money, bought all the weapons and upgrades, and then bulldozed the rest of the game lol
I'm currently playing through Control
when that's done I think I'll start horizon zero dawn
Yes, and routes from objective to objective are quite strict. Very much not an open-world game, but a linear story.
Yeah, and I think my trouble is the first open world game I played was Breath of the Wild
it's an open-world game but the actual story is somewhat linear-ish yeah
Whereas I think most other people had other more linear games like Assassin's Creed or whatnot
But I did enjoy going to the other end of San Andreas, wandering the desert, jet skiing around the coastline
tbh I think doing open world storytelling the way zelda does it is extremely difficult to pull off
Trying to park dump trucks on top of mountains :)
and in fact btw/totk aren't free of criticism either in that regard
you mean los santos btw
san andreas is its own game
I thought Los Santos was just the city
it's both
it's like LS city in LS county or something
in any case, san andreas is a different game
oh hm
Looks like alternate universes, because I know the game you're thinking of, I played that one
then where the fuck are we playing in GTA: SA
yeah I played that one too but I don't think I finished it
I could never really get into the controller controls cause we had it on PS2
Neither, I was too young.
I enjoyed it though. Mind you, I kinda felt like it was Driver with more to do rather than BotW with less freedom.
and vice city
I wonder if there are any open world driving games set in places which aren't full of stroads
Like, where the roads are narrow and bendy
Yeah, the nation that invented stroads 😄
and as we all know the US is the republic of stroads
though tbh given how cars in video games tend to handle
maybe that's a blessing in disguise
True
My husband was quite impressed with how I was driving between cars on the roads. Honestly, that wasn't skill, I just learnt quickly how the AI drives
I mean you have to learn because if you were to drive "properly" you'd turn a 40 hour game into a 400 hour game
I tried doing exactly two missions obeying the road rules, or as near as I could with the confusing road lines and unfamiliarity with driving on the right
And yeah, what was normally a 3 minute drive was nearly 15 lol
Just between Michael's house and Lester's factory
:o
@lilac bridge Nah.
sad
do you own a drawing tablet???
Somewhere probably.
Okay

I'm going to eat a pile of Burger King and watch Wine About It
And then I guess pack to go home tomorrow
Consider yourself informed
What will be in this pile, sir? Enquiring minds want to know.
I bet it'll be a whopper of an order.
The mushroom swiss version of those new patty melt monstrosities they have and an Oreo shake
I haven't eaten much all week and I'm actually hungry tonight so I am ready to pig out
I had BK for the first time in a very long time the other day
I live right next to a Maccas so when I want a snack, I just go there (or my hubby goes for me, more usually)
It's been a long time for me too
So … I enjoyed it, but it wasn't all that?
I'm in a hotel in dumpy Bakersfield so my options are limited
But definitely reminded me that flame grilled patty > *
I've been talking shit about Bakersfield all week lol
ok so guys
im a programmer (unity for 6 years) and i wanna get into making tutorials kinda like brackeys (who helped me alot)
i need to learn where to start, i have everything set up, I just need tips on how to make my tutorials better, and I know
editing, but like just general recording tips.
What is Bakersfield's claim to fame
Are you talking about video tutorials?
yeah
Oil derricks and no dispensaries
And what exactly will you be making tutorials about?
general c# programming, like how to add music shuffling and volume slider to your game,
main menu, basics, etc..
basically mini-brackeys (rip)
I think, like Brackeys, get straight to the point. Don't fluff around with all the usual "hey guys, what's up, it's your boy dumbass321 here and I'm coming at you with—" *click* I've already moved on to another video
oh alr, so just say "Welcome to another tutorial, today i will be showing you how to do this, now time to show you!"
He's quite good at starting the video with "this is what we're doing, here's how to do it" and diving right in
I appreciate when people get to the fucking point right away
definitly
Another question: will your tutorials be series or standalone?
i will have serieses and standalones
As in, will they need to have watched your previous videos to understand? Or, will you be stepping them through building the same project?
like a series on platformers, mobile game, etc..
no they wont, they can just get scripts from one and implement them (if they can fix any interference bugs or just bad integration)
Right, so things like you mentioned, music shuffling, adding volume slider, etc. you would be making those standalone so that they're generalisable to any kind of game, yeh?
yeah
but series will be different
you start from the beginning, and end at the end
you cant skip, or its probably gonna break something
also, i wanna make my vids like 5 - 10 minutes
5 to 10 is good, yes
and have scripts and models in a github in the description so they can just add it if they are either too lazy or busy
i dont think your busy while coding other than, coding istelf
itself*
I feel like a lot of times people are searching for video tutorials on something, they really just want to see a solution to their one thing — so even if they have to rewatch a few of your videos, those being short will be helpful
start by writing a script btw
okay
Verdict: Tasty, but insufficient circumference
THat's what -- Nevermind.
😭

Bakersfield is not somewhere I would visit willingly, except I have a friend there
I dare scarface to top this amount of powder
Hmm slow snow
It's just the Mi Notes app that was pre-installed on my phone lol. Not sure you can get it unless you have a Xiaomi/Redmi phone
Yeah I can't either 😂
Called in some extra snow for dramatic effect
Hihi
I have two phones with it. xiaomi mi 8 and a xiaomi 12 pro
Nice! I'm on the Redmi Note 10 Pro currently
the 12 pro has a charging speed classified as "nuts"
120W max
My Mi-branded charger never leaves my sight because of that lol
sub-20 minute charge time
British plug jumpscare
I actually have two 120w chargers next to me and a 100w one in the car
one of the two 120w ones is what looks like the EU version (two round pins)
the other one is the north american connector
even when I used the north american connector one with a cable only rated for 100W, the charge rate was fast enough for me to not care
Holy shit yeah 120W for a phone is slightly scary
I honestly think that should be one with the grounding pins instead of that, 120w is a lot
consdiering that nema 5-15 is rated for 1200W running, 1850W surge
One of these
Uuuunnnlimited pooowwweeeerrrr!!!
120W isn't exactly a lot
Its alot in the context of it being a phone lmao
especially not in 240v environments
phone side it's absolutely massive sure
iphone 15s are maybe 30W
My Nothing Phone(2) goes up to 45W (which I've never hit before)
Even with a high quality Dell Thunderbolt dock I can only get like 10W
And with a Lenovo laptop charger it's also like 15W
My own generic 20W charger hits like 7W
And some 65W charger hits idk how much but it's also not 45W iirc
I have a few camera battery chargers that can reliably draw 60W
and a pair of d-tap to usb-pd 65W adatpers
I also have inline usb power meters to verify power transfer rate
🙄
seems like it's going to be around -20C (some negative fahrenheits) in here this week
sure looks cozy tho
yeah the dog really enjoyed walking in there and luckily I just got some new winter clothes 😅
lol
Does someone know how to make command for streamelements bot e.g pp and if number gonna land on 0 it will mute that user for eg 5 mins and on other numbers it will not mute?
If you need help with StreamElements products or services, please join their Discord server or submit a support ticket. The StreamElement's support team is better positioned to help with your issue.
well so
that streamers doesnt want it for streamelements but she want it for nightbot
neither of those can do it
streamelements can't do the 'if 0' part
and nightbot can't do the timeout part
but you could have nightbot do the 'if 0' bit with $(eval) and then output a !timeout $(touser) command for streamelements to do
@scarlet summit By the sound of it you let Torbeck handle the recordings
Have a Supe Maple Monday FAM! 🍁

It looks very weird....
Put a British standard plug into a Chinese charger
It's weird
This is the charger of vivo
Although it's not Xiaomi😅
Ended up having a bit more fun when the sun rose up
I guess people don't have winter tires for their car in there? :D
It snowed here 4 days ago, only about a half inch. But it's been consistently frozen since then. We can't leave the neighborhood until it melts. Neighborhood is 500ft elevation and the road out is steep descent to sea level. It's supposed to be 34 today, though! Maybe we can get out
nice. i've had the same pair of dt880s for like 17 years now
770s a bit bassier, a bit tighter clamp, definitely sound nice though
I too have 880s. They are good but I still prefer my 990s
The highs and mids on them are so nice
I have uh
a lot of beyerdynamics
dt770pro, dt880pro, dt1990pro, mmx300v2, aventho wired are the functional ones
I want to send them off to get the removable cable mod done
I used to also have a dt880 non-pro but I broke it, some pair of mobile ones and earbuds both of which I forget what they were
tbh unless you want to actually remove it (as opposed to having it be replaceable in case it breaks) don't bother, beyer cables are very sturdy
My chair is the destroyer of cables
is it the 250 ohm?
I can see what some people mean about the higher ends being slightly harsh. Some songs you can really hear the silibants
yes
then it has a coiled cable no?
good luck running over that
next on my list to buy when its back in stock
my dt770pros are from 2004 and still have the original cable on them
granted slightly shorter than originally because after 18 years I finally managed to get a break
Nice
Modern music definitely sounds a bit worse on the 770s I think its mixed for more consumer headphones
Lots of older music sounds way better on them
I tested them against the audio technica m50xs and sony mdr 7506. Ended up buying the 250 ohm 770 pros
i had to get my 880 cable replaced twice, it would fail at the tie off inside the left driver and end up yanking on the wires that linked the two sides. last time i got them serviced they did a good job though, been sturdy for like 6-7 years
oh I just did it myself
there was a break right where the cable exits the cup
so I just shortened that part a few cm
I need to get a new cable though
the other end is worn down and is wonky in some equipment lol
I was worried dnb would sound a bit weak in the low end on the 770s because in store it felt a bit lacking but on my pc it seems great
Maybe its just the power of the 250ohm
770s are rarely accused of being weak in the low end
as long as theyre driven fully, yeah :p
I had that problem once
A lot of people online said they're not for bassheads
I almost bought new ones
Whatever that even means
but then I realised I had made a huge mistake
maybe bassheads think they're too bassy? idk
and put the 880/990 pads on them
which it turns out are not the same as 770 pads
took me months to figure out
Also I just plugged them into my computers mobo and it can drive them with ease so that's cool
i'm a big fan of my macbook pro's ability to detect impedance, can use up to 600 ohm headphones
My 600ohm 880s def need some assistance getting loud enough
My asus mobo can also do up to 600ohm but the inpedance detection broke at some point 😦
I just set it to the max amplification
Well I'm happy with my purchase
Was agonising over which ones to get for hours yesterday so I just went to a store to test
They have a ridiculous amount of bass in some track I feel like I need to turn it down lol
that combined with the tight clamp is why i prefer the 880s
i also have to use them for really long periods
but yeah, the 770s are very fun to listen on, enjoy them!
@wanton coral if you have that cable mod done, please share. I've been tempted to have it done too
Will do
Hmm some tracks seem a bit quiet like the ones on enter the wu tang expanded edition
at least on spotify
oh it set back to performance ._.
I never realised how loud some tracks are holy shit
Play bodies by drowning pool and anything past 20-30% in windows volume mixer feels like hearing damage levels
The loudness wars really did a number on music
Wow, I've just finished reading that whole discussion that I accidentally started yesterday. To clarify, I intend to use a video editor to clip things down, add subtitles, some transitions, and background music. Perhaps some animation for visualising some jokes here and there
^
Who wouldn't be happy with ffmpeg?
lol
I'd rather use CapCut 💀
if you're skilled enough, you can create an entire edited and finished video with one ffmpeg command
Yeah but it'll be pages and pages
lol yeah i would not do that
would be good video encoding enthusiast shitpost content though
yo dawg
Virtual Machineception!
Why is "uninstall and reinstall" a primary go to "troubleshooting" step for the average computer user?
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Seems like a common thing Matty. Rather than findout out what's causing the issue .... 🙂
A lot of programs seem to need it at times. OBS is just a cut above the rest
The CAM software we use at school crashes on a blank project now, nothing is fixing that. Had to swap pc mid-class
Did you run Windows Update?
Nothing, just sudden bork
Sorry, I was sarcastically replying to matty.
I'm going to go back to my recording now.
When in doubt, apply to production enviroment
@errant glen Sorry for ping, but I seem to remember you were interested in the FFXV speedrun on AGDQ, it's today at <t:1705356000:t>
Oh, it's already AGDQ time again. Thx for the reminder
the FFXV speedrun is fucking amazing you should watch it
some of the tech involved in tasbot's runs ends up being kinda nuts
there's also a dog-assisted speedrun tomorrow
Sure most already know about the Twitch BETA transcodes but wanted to ask about the "special version" of OBS. Asking because OBS does already support the AV1 portion but what would be a special version of OBS contain ?
https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2024/01/08/introducing-the-enhanced-broadcasting-beta/
the enhanced broadcasting beta does not include anything related to AV1.
I'm aware of that
the beta is for "streaming multiple video tracks at once"
if you just mean what is the difference, the build of OBS would include all things required to send multiple transcodes.
everything that the article you linked talks about.
I know when I stream, 99% of the time I have transcoding which many of my viewers are happy about. From my understanding that's handled on Twitches end and you get it or you don't get it in some cases. Is this going to be something where OBS can handle it via Nvidia hardware instead ?
that is precisely what the article explains, yeah.
well, that's kinda the core of the enhanced broadcasting.
The ability to do the "transcodes" yourself (which then aren't really transcodes anymore, just the same video at different resolutions) and send that to twitch altogether
i.e.
*This Twitch-specific beta version of OBS is ready to test. We are working with the OBS team and hope to get these updates included in their next mainline release. In the meantime, if you’re interested in helping us test these features out, head to the Streaming Tools page in your Creator Dashboard sign up for the beta. We’ll begin inviting participants on a rolling basis beginning later this week.
To be clear, we’ll continue to provide transcodes from our servers as needed. Participating in this beta allows you to be among the first streamers to try this new technology, while benefiting from improved stream quality and extended reach.*
Just wasn't sure if that's what it meant 🙂
ok, coolness 🙂
and sounds like they are going to be bringing AV1 from what I read through it (which has nothing to do with the transcodes I get)
that OBS beta will include the thing that allows you to send multiple video streams bundled altogethrr to be used as transcodes.
Same thing will be included in base obs too, but at a later date.
@karmic tiger so basically the hardware will handle all these functions. From there a user can say "I want 360p, I'm on my cell signal" and they'll get that - but the return is their quality at that size will be better looking than before ? (well, a little better?)
the user will be able to get what you send
360p will be proposed if you yourself encode it and send it.
If you choose not to (and you don't get transcodes) it won't show.
ah ok, neat!
does transcoding on Twitches end mean their servers need to do a little extra work for those streaming ? Never new how that process worked in the background
yes
presumably part of the motivation for twitch to do this is to cut on the cost of said transcodes
that'll be a plus for them it sounds like
From.what I've heard(and I haven't actually fact checked), twitch generated transcodes tend to be a bit lacking due to hardware/settings they use to get it out at relatively low latency, as compared to what modern nvenc can do
So client side transcodes will potentially be higher quality than what twitch transcodes currently do
yes the quality is better this way, as they mentioned.
yee
I would assume users who opt to do this on their end, they wouldn't noticed too much of a performance hit with their GPU ?
I have a stream PC so I'm not worried, but was thinking of those who might solo pc stream
if nothing because encode direct from source will always be better than a re-encode, even at similar settings
that's good to hear ❤️
possibly, depending on exactly what you're doing exactly and what you have
Encode deez
no way to know the exact impact without trying
bold talk for someone in encoding distance

yeah
currently the stream pc has a 4070 Ti so I would assume I'd be ok
buy yeah, won't know till we try
hey, how was that pork shoulder?
was fortunate to get it on a good deal at Microcenter so I opt to just upgrade it, and not have to upgrade for long time ❤️
oooooh yum
I'm just super excited for AV1 ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ !!!!!
I may have missed that shot <grabs a fork and plate>
oh my gosh that looks so tastey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Weather screwed me on cook time. Was cold and started raining about 2/3 the way through. Took 9.5 hours
But well worth it
When my at times rather picky children go back for a 2nd plate, ya know it turned out well
My rib roast took longer, but it was for just my wife and I. And the dogs and one cat who is spoiled.
Rain+wind sucks
Best part is that shoulder will get us a few meals. And at only $10.55, it's a pretty good bargain
Tough to get main staple of multiple meals that cheap these days
hmmm, that seems high to what I usually see. Maybe I have more pig farms nearby. Even boneless, typical price for shoulder here is $5.99/pound.
Food prices suck too, especially by region
cool, scared me there. THAT'S a great deal there.
@prisma dove glad I only live off Huel.com, affordable per month, but not everyone wants to live eating like this 😛
I'd go flat broke feeding just my 2 kids off those delivered meals
no shit, I had just one kid and he ate all the time, especially in his teens.
Yea. They don't stop. Ever
My grocery bill dropped by more than half after he moved out.
I have just over 10 years til they are hopefully both out the house but who's counting
You. You are counting. But after they are all gone, you will miss them in seconds. Mine turns 30 this summer.
Yea. I do enjoy my time with them and try my best to not take it for granted
(and btw, the guy who'll run FFXV got a cosplay of his vtuber that he'll run in)
@amber sparrow starting the last episode of S3 for See right now and reading the description I am now realizing this is the entire series finale 😦
The best shows always end too soon
How the hell is this wrong wtf. Its the only answer that makes sense.
In what world does anyone put sugar in orange juice??!?
I thought no it can't possibly be that answer because nobody adds sugar to oj
not all OJ is created equally. the world is big and different
can't say how common that is, but it's a better answer than answering "Yes, I speak Spanish" to that question
You learn something new every day
OH NO! Sucks to see a good show go, but sometimes better they end before it drags out into crap
Maybe but there’s so much depth to this story, it could’ve gone much longer
FFXV run was amazing, got two separate "Well that never happens" XD
Most orange juice has sugar in it, what are you on about
Holy crud. Is this euro truck simulator 2? The amount of realism here is blowing my mind.
Seriously, is this a photograph or is it ets2? I figure you guys'd know. o.=.o.
That looks like a photo
I'm so torn. o.===.o The snow and the mundanity makes me think photograph, but the lens flare looks so utterly wrong/overdone/fake to me... XD
What makes it look like a photo to me is the details right down the background
That could be anywhere in central to eastern USA or Canada right now.
Oh, that's fair. Can't be ETS2 if it's familiar to me... XD
4000x1868, but also full of obvious compression by a phone camera when looking at the skybox skyline
And the light twixt the trees on the left, it doesn’t blur like computer graphics do, and also the compression
The compression's a good point, but I assumed that the resolution might be a red herring. I've been working with Logicoma stuff recently and that always throws my idea of AR out of whack... XD
iunno of any games that have shadows coming off of bricks in the distance like this
I've done it. <w<' Maybe the trees look too correct to be CG..
this is a photo because europe does not have trucks like that
it's an american truck
I wish so much that we had these graphics... XD
this explains the insane realism
"the snow simulation when driving across different terrain is fantastic" -John Linneman /s
@plain lintel an update to https://github.com/microsoft/wslg might fix it
a standard wsl --update might fix it too
Confirmed, wsl --update fixed it
Hi
if it ran in the unreal engine then it could look like that
ETS2 would look a bit different, but with ReShade (and a winter mod) it can look very similar
They're doing a complete engine overhaul this year (2nd time since 2012). Probably not UE5 but still some major improvements.
oic
Hopdfully it'll finally act nicer about multi monitors and wanting it on one specific one, but i dunno if i'd hope for it
I have an old uncle who is digitising his casettes. He managed to turn them into digital files but now wants to edit them (only cutting unnecesary parts). Any quick and simple to understand suggestions for cutting software?
(windows)
he is using mp4 files
Audacity should work. I did about 50 cassette tapes a few years back
they arent audio cassettes
proprietery old sony camcorder casettes
so we are dealing with videos
ah.. 🙂 My old age kicked in with "casettes" 🙂
Any one of the editors suggested via the command should work too.
!editors 🙂
For a list of recommended post-production software, including video editors, see our list of Post Production Tools
ty
For just simple cuts, losslesscut or avidemux should work fine
Did discord stop working just now?
Not that I saw
Some browsers are stuck in a loading screen, this one disconnected briefly.
ah... I use the app rather than browser 🙂
Does that question even need to be asked? 😆
k you convinced me
i think the gluten free ones are better than the normal double stuff
would agree. Wife gets a lot of gluten free products.

oh... we day drinking again? I'm in --- if I wasn't working
yes I am highly inebriated on tea and jam
Just now realizing there isn’t a limit on super reactions anymore
@civic quarry finished monarch last night and picked See back up. Almost done with ssn2
yee but they hard require nitro now
Should finish it up by this weekend
I really liked monarch overall. And the cliff hanger for ssn2 was pretty good
I don't want super reactions, I want avatar frames and profile backgrounds >:(
Yup just open your wallet and they are all yours
^ same
$2.99 is 1/2 a Big Mac 🙂
Cripes, are Big Macs really that expensive
They're just boxes of lettuce with some buns
yup - They are just about $6 USD now
Cor
Which is why I go to a local mom & pop place for a bigger, better burger for $5
I don't even know what they cost here. I think a bit over $8, so that works out
We live right next to a Maccas so the convenience is often worth the price. Plus, we use their data farming rewards scheme to get some pretty good discounts.
honestly yeah, the few times I been to maccas, I got quite very disappointed
Like, two burgers, chips, and drink for $15 is pretty good in our currency
My French teacher back when I was in high school, thousands of years ago, told us about this place called Quick where they serve beer alongside all the soft drinks
And that just fascinated me
Can't imagine it's more than piss water, though
When I lived in Germany we could get a beer with our Big Mac 🙂
a whole lot of fast food joints in france do have some sort of beer as drink option yeah
it's usually not good beer, but it's better than the us pisswater
That's faint praise lol
I tasted US beer last year. I already don't like beer but … Christ, there's more flavour in a green tea
That's why I stay away from the "American" lagers. Prefer micro brewery ales, porters and stouts 🙂
the US has some great local craft beers (but tbh pretty much any beermaking country has), but indeed the "light" beers are the absolute fucking bottom of the barrel
Prefer me a gin and tonic
Doubt I'd be able to get one of those at Maccas 😄
McGin with McTonic
I tell people yellow beer is what you get after biologically filtering a good ale
Sweet and Sour nugget dipping sauce
The best nugget sauce
The most tolerable 🙂
And this is why you don't take Pen out for drinks
Cheese in stick form isn't a down here thing
We're a proud dairy producing nation but we export all the good cheese overseas
We get left with small, windowless buildings made of yellow rubber
it's enjoyable when you're shitfaces because it's hot and has lipids, but otherwise, tbh just some actually good mozza
Come now, I come from a former UK colony, all we eat is cheddar
I don't think I ever had NZ cheese, but then again, my country has quite the saturated market lmao
hmm.. fried cheddar sticks..... sounds like a possiblity
This is what I try to tell my husband. He loves cheese, so why don't we go to France for a holiday instead of Japan? He's been there already, he's there now, and he's going again in April — let's go eat some cheese instead!
I mean, you can fry anything if you try hard enough
100%
I mean tbh japan is pretty cool too
Sadly.. most county fairs here try to prove that... Oreos, Twinkies, whole pickels, hard boiled eggs, Snickers.....
It is, but … for a change, I would like to be the one who can speak the lingo fluently
lmao
This year, they've got me teaching junior French. I'm excited.
(if you ever do come to france and wanna get a drink, do hmu, I'd love to)
ooooh cool!
Deep fried Mars bars are a staple of any good fish and chip shop
dear fucking lord
Absolutely would
💜
My ideal takeaways is two battered fish, a scoop of garlic chips (steak cut fries drowning in garlic butter), and a deep fried Mars bar <3
And then fasting for a fortnight to make up for the calorie load
lmao
What's funny is it's often difficult to try and find Mars bars here in my area 🙂
Same here, so it's usually substituted for a Moro bar, which is similar but made by Cadbury
It's 2am, all this talk of food
I should go to bed and dream of breakfast :)

Late night food talk.. never a good thing. Have a good sleep Feets

Just so I understand, as it sounds like we would: with the new transcoding stuff we'd do on our end, each transcode we would need to provide the bandwidth. So that would mean we'd need to essentially have more upload speeds ?
360p ~ 1.5Mbps
720p ~ 3.5Mbps
1080 ~ 6Mbps
ect., ect.,
so 10Mbps~ ?
Yes, that's how it would work. For Twitch specifically, the cap is 8.2Mbps for the beta.
8.2 in total ?
yes, aggregate
What happened? o.=.o?
You haz ark installed yes?
I have the client installed, but don't have any servers running, currently. owo?
Was curious if you have any issues using app audio capture on it
I knew you had it, so figured I'd poke
I don't remember, owo. I can check briefly, but I'm only planning to be around for a few more minutes I hope maybe. As such, I have version 29.1.3. Do I need to be on anything later?
That should be fine
Kais, bare with.
Application audio capture not only works, but is the /only/ one that works. Capturing from the device doesn't, unless I have the wrong one picked, owo.
Roger that. Thank you for testing! Got a log of it?
If I'm not asking too much now
DANKE
Oh, if it's using Default, that'd be nVidia Broadcast, which I have turned off right now. No wonder the global didn't get audio but per-thing did, owo.
Oh, i wonder if the new ark plays different/has some duckery
Ctrl-f User switched to scene 'Only Ark' for relevant stuff. -w-.
Was going to attempt helping the user in audio support, but that may be a factor
I don't have ASA downloaded and so can't suggest there. "Ark" refers to the original. "ASA" refers to the new one. They do work /significantly/ differently.
Yep yep. Just learned that when I opened their log
Didn't know until an hour or 2 ago there was a new one
Anyways, I appreciate you being a willing guinea-dragon
Therre is, it's a new engine, and a very old codebase. The amount of weirdness, jank, and brokenness, is so great that I currently refuse to play it. This sort of thing historically took wildcard about two years to get enough of a handle on for me to cope as someone who very wanted to see it work, but realistically for average people, it took them 4-5 years to sort it all out. They're only a few months in, currently.
Is welks. -w-.
Idle pondering: I wonder if we can have different streams for each encode, somehow. In my game, for example, I can't imagine a 360p resolution being watchable if I try to stream the entire display, but if I crop to the bottom center so people only see my characters' skill activations and their radar, then that'd probably be enough and show up legibly.
Very fast example of my specific situation. Big display is 1080 (1010 actually but shh), little ones under it at 360. Bottom left is unintelligible, bottom right is totally workable, owo.
I recognize those tents
I started playing that recently
You win... XD
I guard the rock. owo.
I'm working on a pre-ascalon character
the diablo 2 crowd tries your new game
Pre-searing.
You're /in/ Ascalon, owo.
you right
Cherish your time in pre. Read everything.
Don't take handouts. Easiest way to ruin the game in perpetuity. No handouts at all, not gold, not money, especially not skills. Completely breaks the gameplay.
I'm going all the way to level 20. There's plenty to cherish
Swell. There's a title for that.
And then I'll do a real character after
This is a real character, owo. Provided you don't take handouts, when you leave, even at level 20, you won't be OP. If you /do/ take handouts, you'll ruin it.
fucking cutie
So far the only interaction I've received is I tried to buy bags and the guy gave them to me instead
Otherwise I've been just soloing
Just me, my cat, and the weird fire imp
In pre it's more-okay; I mean, after pre, there are a LOT of people who will be like "omg you're new I want you to stick around here please take this literal end-game one-shot-everything weapon! :D :D :D :D" without telling you that that's what it actually is. It absolutely destroys the experience.
As a newbie, you will never be able to reliably identify what's sane and what isn't. Only real solution is "don't accept any trades once you exit pre-searing", owo.
Oh yeah, I don't intend to accept help
Part of what's. charming (and frustrating) about gw2 is that you don't really ever out level something. There's always some danger
And I want to have that same experience in gw1
Nifty. Also be careful who you party with. Generally-speaking, anybody playing "ironman" will be able to understand a request like "I want a genuine newbie experience". Anybody not doing ironman, will absolutely not understand this request, don't party with them or they'll acci-powerlevel you /real fast/. (Not with literal levels. Powerlevel in GW refers to things like "learn new skills", "get to new areas", and so on, before it'd make sense to.)

Once I get things a little more settled the real plan is to run a character through each low level zone for story, pick my favorite, do the endgame, then go all the way through gw2 story again
I'm in absolutely no hurry
That sounds swell. -w-... You can poke me if you want general advice and stuff. I think I know how not to screw stuff over.
Will do!
Oh, don't do /bonus. THey're all OP as fudge.
Except arguably the imp. At least the imp goes away eventually. (Plus if you picked Ranger as your primary in Prophicies, boy, you're already UP AF. XD Imp just makes things tolerable at that point.)
Yeah I did end up /bonusing and picking ranger as primary. At least for the pre-searing. Pet control is super rough
I probably won't on the necro that's going through prophecies. I felt powerful enough until I was char farming tbh
I also really messed up the first ranger and had to restart already
I turned in the save ben quest which made it impractical to farm
Ranger is stupid-broken in Prophicies. Utterly useless as a profession. Literally has no place in any team in Prophicies. It's /that/ bad. Maybe not as big of an issue to /bonus there.
Anything else though, seriously, it's all gunna get OP rather immediately if you use those weapons, owo. Also, ranger in nightfall is actually-usable, though it's railroaded into using /precisely/ one specific skill over and over (you'll figure it out fast) with basically no variety to theorycrafting, so "it works but it's boring AF and still doesn't fit the spirit of the game".
Oh, turns out the skill I'm thinking of, shows up in Factions. Okay, so there's precisely /two/ builds that a ranger can meaningfully use, and both exist in Factions. Okay.
while listening to the DF podcast [this wk], they mentioned premier takes awhile and the thing that slows them down is the fps charts
Whus DF, owo?
digitalfoundry
owo.
so even their solution isn't performant #encoding-talk message
I want live bitrate graphs anyway.
realtime rendering of a plot during playback?
Nuh, cuz nobody will be smart enough to reliably obtain the correct software, script, and invoke it, every time. I want to burn the overlay into the video so it's /part of/ the video.
The workflow in my mind works like this:
Encode a video normally, without any overlay.
Generate data from that video to generate an overlay, save it as a txt or whatever.
Use the original lossless video, encode the new video /again/, but this time burn the overlay into it as it goes. This will intentionally make the overlay incorrect, but I think this is useful because most people probably won't assume that the overlay it's self is somehow contributing to changes in bitrate.
Distribute both videos and mention that the overlay refers to the data in the non-burned-in-video, in the off chance that somebody observant enough comes around and actually might notice, owo.
Portland is too cold
Is that MSFS with ETS2 expansion?
If only
Hoping I can drive home by Thursday
But! This hotel has a restaurant
Uh-oh now power is flickering at the hotel
Yeah, that's basically where I landed. Ranger is uh. a little bland. I also switched off it on gw2 if I'm being honest.
Yooo this room has a Chromecast
Little too bland, little too I underpowered. I'd rather play Petcro
Now I can watch all of my favorite influencers and content creators
