Sexual dimorphism changes after launch

People have been complaining about the dimorphism due to how over exaggerated it can be or just changing the what the designs are in the movies such as dilophosaurus or being outright illogical and non faithful to the films at all

Parasaurolophus from what I’ve seen for the model from my limited point of view seems to be a bit hypocritical to the male designs for the hadrosaurs in that it has a seemingly shorter head crest than the females which is odd and looks out of place amongst the other hadrosaurs.

For other species the male designs just look too cartoony to take seriously, triceratops being the best example with the male having a very oddly shaped head frill and doesn’t look as convincing as say lokiceratop’s dimorphism where it still looks practically the same at a glance and even styraco is more convincing than trike

Carnotaurus also suffers from this and the female model is now a lot less visually appealing from the first games, the male could have simply had longer horns than the female instead of the female just having its horns shrunken down

The female model for nasutoceratops is just baffling since the default model in both games prior was the female and the male design from BABR was seemingly dumped

And idk why the male nasuto ingame looks like the female

I wrote this on my phone btw so that’s why it looks stupid

Also I’m lead to believe the short crested version is the male since when shown in the second campaign map we see females

And there are no males on that map prior to creating the male maiasaura which practically confirms the female has the longer crest which is a bit odd since the male would be the one needing the larger crest to look more attractive

After these observations I’m down to only two conclusions

1. This was a deliberate choice from the team

2. This is a mistake that was made during production and during the early preview and it didn’t get another once over to confirm everything is how it should be

I’m leaning towards the latter since the other hadrosaurs (even non lambeosaurines such as edmontosaurus) have larger head crests in the males and it would be a very odd decision that doesn’t coincide with the other members of the hadrosaurs

But it could very well be the former.

And it kind of feels weird given most herbivorous animals that have head ornamentation typically have the larger display in the males given its expensive to create and maintain good condition with those ornaments which in turn shows that the male in particular is fit enough to maintain them

I'm hoping that the sexual dimorphism for the T-Rex gets adjusted a bit to match the canon..

Jurassic world Rebirth Male Rex could be what the male Tyrannosaurus from the Jurassic world era would look like, meanwhile they could redesign the male T-Rex for the Jurassic Park era T-Rex male to look like the Buck from The Lost World.

At least this is what they could do to make the male T-Rex look more distinct from the female cuz they both look the same.

Giga’s female dimorphism is what I thought would be the male’s but the male looks like a female

We don't actually have any concrete confirmation that Ember is a male, just that the design was inspired by the Bull from JP3
That being said, I would like the Rexes to have dimorphism based on the Buck and Doe, like the larger brows and bigger dewlap.

Some of the choices they make are so weird like why would they ever do that to nausuto when the cannon male exists it’s so odd

Personally I think the male Nasuto from BABR looks ugly so I don’t mind how it is in game

I really like its current design in game as it’s very accurate to the real animal, so if they changed it to look like the BABR design idk how I would feel about the species

This is also weird with Tapejara, the male has a much more basic crest compared to the female. It's like some of the species have swapped male/female skins

Male dinosaurs existed in that film and for some reason Universal keeps forgetting about the second Jurassic Park film

Like the crest is smaller and that’s it, that’s the only thing remotely ‘more accurate’

It’s really annoying that canon species have their canon female appearances as the males in game

Well, jurassic world did have male dinosaurs, its just often neglected. So we dont know if the one that appears in fallen kingdom is a male or female (unless it was actually confirmed somewhere, then mb)

Ok. So in mind for species that should be fixed with upgraded models to make up happy. Now as a note, some species are included because they just need model updates regardless of their genders for rather film accuracy:

Now maybe also include Triceratops for a slight frill size decrease in the male. Then maybe the Stygimoloch, so the female can have her original model from JWE2 and the male have more dynamic physical horns or something

It’s very confusing given the male Geosternbergia is the same model from JWE2 but they gave the female a new model

But then for things like dilo in the first film which was female they didn’t keep its cannon design for the female and instead changed it entirely and gave it an absolutely awful pattern

Side note the dilo really got a downgrade for its OG pattern ingame compared to jwe1 where there was more organic colors for the dilo
