Do you feel like the scientist system is both arbitrary and pretty underwhelming? Do you want more impactful magement gameplay beyond "this costs me more time and money?" Well then, allow me to suggest we overhaul Division leaders instead.
Instead or in addition to simply recruiting, upgrading and demoting your scientists, imagine having an entire tier of Park management roles you must hire and fill. Each department head having different traits, both negative and positive, and different priorities which may impact gameplay and performance. A change like this would give players a reason to care anout their employees, and steer the park divisions in different directions. Drawing from JWE1, Lambert had a huge focus on "dinosaur fights" despite the obvious ethical problems this had. You could get a leader that feels this way, and thus causes your security ratings to suffer. For Conservation or Biology, you could hire someone whos entire emphasis is on Baby-rearing rather than paleo diets or paleo accuracy. And so on.
