Crashed twice (first with Steam Cloud Sync on and second with it off) and both times resulted in not being able to see my character anymore (i.e. deleted).
But local .sav files still present (attached) - can I somehow "import" this?

Also just tried uninstall-reinstall. No dice, character still missing from char selection screen.
Only char delete upon those 2 crashes. Normal closing is just fine. I even tried a hard reboot while ingame and it still was fine... just when crashing it deletes
My Playtest chars are always still there though, it's only the new EA chars that get deleted

Is there no update on this? My PC keeps restarting when I play the game and it’s deleting my character. This is really frustrating!

@winter raft Good news/Bad news time.
Good news: I always crash around the same spot - swamp farmlands area about 2 hours into the game. I copied my whole SavedGames folder to my desktop right as I reached Pygos. Crashed 15 minutes later, copied the "good" SavedGames older into the local /appdata/TQ2/Saved directory and my character was there right back in Pygos. So as long as I continually copy that folder off before a crash, I can recover and just lose the time spent between then and crash.
Bad News: I still keep crashing in that exact same area.

You only backup this five files? And before the crash, they work fine but if it crash, they got corrupted?

I dont know if there is another "crash spot" later in the game as I obviously cannot get past this one yet. Will try to just sneak around stuff and do whatever main/side quests I can to get past in and do the local save off again for now. But hoping there is a further investigation given others having same issue an I can circle back later to complete whatever I cannot currently
I backup the whole SavedGames folder
I deleted all the Playtest char data, so this is now my ONLY character in EA
/appdata/local/tq2/saved/SaveGames - that whole SaveGames folder is what I save off then replace after crash to restore

Its like once the crash happens, that whole folder becomes corrupt in a sense that the char doesnt show

After each play session (I even do it while playing now like every 15 minutes) is just copy that /appdata///TQ2 SaveGames folder to my desktop as a backup in case I crash again and then just paste the local back into the //TQ2 directory
Since i skipped that trouble area... knock on wood.. havent had an issue in any others yet

They have to be saved off to a different location before you crash. Once you crash, those save files don't work
Then when crash, overwrite the save files with the local ones

Thanks for this detailed report. We heard about missing save files the first time on Saturday (everything was working fine in our QA session and for closed beta players up until now). But this is obviously a major issue we will investigate asap.
It's good to have your save files, because from previous reports we got, it sounded like the files themselves were deleted, not that they are corrupted/cannot be loaded anymore

i save them to a different location, but cant remember if it was before or after the crash, and now when i try to return it, the game doesnt recognizes them unfortunately.. i had a very good build, player all day today
