XLF-S252C
featuring dual lunite coilguns and a subnuclear flight pack
as well as a set of 2 caseless scaled SMGs
The PS68 Gas Turbine Multi Fuel Generator
Although the machine looked like earlier pentane fueled designs built for the Pentane Reactor Project with the main difference being the exhaust, this model was completely different internally
Replacing the piston engine with a jet engine like turbine allowed for this model to exhibit superior power output and efficiency, and was soon rolled out to even the most remote of Auroral Atomic Corporation's facilities
health and safety threatened to sic the XCF-5s (with quenchgun rifles too!!) if we didnt deal with the cable problem so
cable cover
(real not fake)
the selected trees are here
‼️
big bread's hell's: geothermal energy and military grade piloted robots
i should probably also post my other project, areium research institute (tentative name)
featuring the MK2 subnuclear fission reactor
(mk1 was a failed prototype that was unable to achieve sustained subnuclear fission due to running on impure fuel)
and since the cats out of the bag: the pipe sketty
😋
gonna drop this in the thread so its in the thread, the XLF-S252D
one of the rare models to use a nuclear reactor
"You'd have to be insane to pilot that thing, either it gives you cancer or cooks your brain."
Early brain computer interfaces weren't very good, and fission reactor suffered from requiring back heavy shielding, this model omits a good chunk of the radiation shielding in favour of higher performance.
Once non invasive interfaces and subnuclear propulsion was developed, later models could usually get the same benefits as the XLF-S252D's advanced powerplant and control system, and certainly more speed due to subnuclear reaction drives being vastly superior to plasma engines.
Auroral Atomic would never produce such a dangerous machine however, the XLF-S252D was a heavily modified version of the XLF-S252 made after the test pilot stole it during the chaos of the 2044 Incident.
the infamous valkyrie II
using it for this purpose does void the warranty so note that
final pic, on the moon
unmanned ver, SQ-04 pheonix
got its name from the plasma radiators which were added in order to fix the engine overheating problem
moving spps stuff to #1213531947402264646
big bread's hell's: military grade piloted robots and prototype subnuclear fission reactors
from now on this will be for stuff made for funsies and or projects on the backburner (such as areium research institute)
Plasma projectors were very versatile, one usage being as a melee weapon goliath frames.
Plasma projector weapons were generally very power hungry, and were mainly seen on nuclear or subnuclear powered models. Capacitor driven models existed for hydrogn fueled machines.
attempt at a fighter in blender
not terribly good as a 3d model but i like how the design turned out
note the lack of canopy is intentional, aerospace fighters generally used closed canopies to avoid melting the window
certainly ufo sighting material
not sure how to fix all the funkyness from mirror modifiers
lore wise the only things ive got is that is uses a fusion drive instead of the more modern hyperdecomposition engine
made a new jet
not sure if it'd be a bomber or a shuttle
maybe bomber and shutte variants
probably used as a lunite hauler
bringing cargo containers down from orbital hubs to earth
goin full blender for some aircraft now
X-44, an X-plane that utilizes plasma shielding systems
powered by 2 lunite-tokamak based open cycle fusion drives
its not a particularly elegant airframe, however the shields worked fine enough
several issues popped up during testing, such as shield placement being suboptimal, and other issues
however it was notable for using plasma projectors defensively, as opposed to being used merely as a cooling method
controversy did surround it however, due to flights releasing heavy radiation via the "cheap n cheerful" fusion drives
later models were much better at integrating plasma projectors
also note: x44 designation is used for this one instead of the manta in the lore due to the alt history nature of auroral atomic's lore
might make anudda plane at some point, perhaps an F-44 developed from the X-44
well prolly SF-44 since the fusion drive would be capable of spaceflight
decided to make a quick spaceship
light carrier vessel
not terribly good, but has good defenses
utilizes sloped armour to minimize impacts, CIWS guns are hidden under armour panels (which i need to add)
large fusion drives provide good thrust, however radiators are lacking
several converted YSB-07s and QX-99K drones flying alongside a goliath frame
cba to make a version of the qx-99k with actual lights
not only are the ysb-07 machines converted to be used as drones, but they have proper cooling and extra engines
hmmm
i needa finish the ng2x caliburn
my favourite parts about this one is
1 - it has omnidirectional alcubierre drives inside
2 - the visor is a phased array laser
its a very late lore design, long after the fall of auroracorp and the lunar corporate war
rotating spacecraft concept
loosely based off of the book descrption of the hermes from the martian
(back view, front view kinda sucks)
heatshield would be one of those inflatable ones
i can feel the neutrons going straight into my skin!
ok so it looks bad but dont worry, the blue particles are an esoteric (and fictional) type of quark that breaks most laws of physics and is potentially connected with deities
the reactor works by breaking apart neutrons and protons made of those quarks
interesting
due to it breaking apart protons and neutrons instead of whole atoms, it generally gets better performance than older fission or fusion reactors, and radiation is minimized compared to them
however due to the physics breaking properties of the particles involved, the design was supressed and never hit market until after 2044 (which is after the auroral atomic corporation imploded spectacularly)
my idea for a reactor works on a basic principle, tried and tested at the LHC
if you collide two protons together
they release tons of energy
and also loads of subparticles
so in theory
you could generate power
wouldnt that just be protium fusion?
by colliding a crap ton of protons together
yeah
so in theory you could generate energy by colliding two beams of heavy ions
together
at something like 10 tera electron volts
i feel like the input energy needed would be higher than the result, though i suppose with a core game you can kinda handwave that
(giant robots are involved)
at the same time also, the subparticles released by the proton collisions
generate energy aswell
in the form of radiation waves
so if you think of a way to convert radiation waves to energy
it will give you more output energy
the lore excuse is that the fictional superconductor on the moon, lunite is quite expensive to ship over
so to make using it in heavy machinery more efficient, a multipurpose platform was developed that could do many things with one batch of superconducting wire
there is a way to convert radiation into electricity
Radiovoltaic conversion
so in theory
this reactor could output more energy
then the input energy needed
the combat early combat versions were sorta just trying to sell the concept to militaries to get more funding, they did however use hydrogen thrusters to allow for quick dashes to evade gunfire to hopefully outmatch tanks
and also it will make the reactor not output any radiation into the enviroment
on the moon however they took off (pun semi intended) due to the thrusters being much more efficient in the low gravity, and their bipedal nature allowed for superior traversal of the rough terrain
thats cool lore
seems cool, is it just a concept or are you making a game with it?
i am probably gonna make it into a game yes
the thruster setup was almost always
2 on the legs, this allows it to hover for a few seconds to avoid tire damage
2 on the shoulders, this lets them move side to side
and any number on the back for forward thrust midair
early earth spec models relied on the wheels but luna spec models had forward thrusters
isnt that powered by a fission reactor
fission power was an exception not the rule
generally radiation shielding added too much weight unless you wanted to risk it for the biscuit, and fusion was too complex and radiation intensive unless it was mounted on a detachable flight pack
interesting, but the power to weight would probably be too low, and it'd add risk
goliath frames are generally powered by hydrogen fuelcells
this creates a tradeoff with dodging since they share a fuel reserve with the thrusters
what fuel do the thrusters use
batteries began to replace fuelcells for civilian models once they got good enough though, and subnuclear power replaced it for military applications once it hit the public
depends
generally hydrolox
for nuclear models they use high performance ion engines
and for subnuclear models the quarks emitted by the reactor
i havent designed any standard scale subnuclear models, however i have designed a large scale "strike goliath" that has one
i need to think of a design for my reactor idea..
the back of the limbs have particle conduits for RCS
due to the high heat output, plasma heatsinks are used
generally these are great for military applications as they can act as improv shields, as well as being much more durable than physical radiators
they also look cool as fuck
fr
there is a variant of subnuclear
ARDC (pronounced "arc")
Accelerated Reaction Drive Cones
these use a fictionalized version of strange matter to provide enormous thrust
when energy is passed through the strange matter fins on the cone, it attracts and accelerates the quark matter exhaust
these are INCREDIBLY powerful
im thinking of two proton accelerators close to the reactor chamber, then a series of kicker magnets leading to the collision chamber, which is coated with radiovoltaic converters
generally due to digital thrust vectoring (changing power supply to the fins) they can fly with minimal RCS thrusters or leg thrusters
aerospike engines
most models had physical thrust vectoring flaps though
yeah i was kinda going for that look, though i was more inspired by gundam 00's GN drives than anything else
the main models were
the unnamed arc goliath prototype
and the 2 arc goliaths, the arc goliath providence and deus
much more hubris was put into the second model's design, and thus didnt have features such as the cruise mode (folding out 2 wings in the back to provide lift for long distance flight)
the second one was designed for personal use of auroral atomic's CEO
methalox fuelled ramjets would actually be quite powerful
the machines arent meant to fly for long distance generally
goliath frames were meant to be dropped off from carriers and the like
the arc was an exception due to the extreme performance of ARDC engines
(relativistic exhaust velocities, to give you an idea)
there was also the TMTK-001, a drone designed to keep up with these machines
designed for extreme manuverability and speed
maybe you could make like the hangars for the mechs from pacific rim
oh yeah i wanna do that at some point
prolly gonna add one in snowfall island power station/snowy plain power station for utility mechs
i should prolly update my utility mech design
yeah that would be cool
lookin rather blocky
yeah its an older one, thats why i needa update it
rn my placeholder is the neuro mk2
nice
one of the first to utilize the signature "halo" pilot helmets, named so for their signature circular sensor
instead of using risky spine implants or muscle twitch tracing, these directly read the pilot's mind for superior control fidelity
neuralink mech
the mk1 was more neuralink style, having a spine connection
it required a very humanlike design to minimize psychic stress
it was ermmm
not good and possibly caused brain damage
lobotomy mech
it was also stolen during the 2044 and remodelled to be even more dangerous to the pilot by increasing the data load significantly with a monoeye head and reverse camera, as well as using a fission reactor with bare minimum shielding
mk2 simply had a sensor in the helmet
it wasnt perfect by any means but it was much less risky and required zero surgery
anyways gtg, but it was fun being able to loredump in qsp for once
cya
keep in mind 2044 was not the average lore incident
it was a corporate civil war essentially
which also involved semi-governmental agencies (discount scp foundation, sorta)
concerningly large PMC forces turning on the company and then turning on eachother
it also invovled the CEO's personal apocalypse plot
but this is getting into spoiler territory, i do wanna reveal stuff in the games themselves
@clear turret we begin, this is the first part of where the collisions happen, the tubes are torodial magnets
yet to material em
yeah ik just saying
does look cool though
The NG2X series was the first ever goliath frame to utilize FTL capable graviton acceleration loops.
Thus, it used a hefty light matter reactor.
Light matter reactors do not generate power, however they are critical to gravity manipulation techology
Light matter reactors utilize light matter as a catalyst to generate gravitons (might change it to tachyons, not sure), which can be used to manipulate gravity.
Vehicles using LMRs still need a power source, generally a subnuclear fission/hyperdecomposition reactor is used, however in rare cases fusion is used due to safety concerns regarding housing large areium fuel capsules on a vessel
The NG2X series uniquely had an externally mounted reactor to compensate for the torso block being taken up with omnidirectional FTL equipment.
Specfically a chain of 6 subnuclear drive units, 2 primary and 4 auxiliary
The primary units fed the turbines and OMS, while the auxiliary ones were solely for sublight thrust
Later models removed the auxiliary ones to reduce weight, make a smaller target, and to reduce cooling load.
also i changed the graviton coils to use green to avoid confusion with red sensor units
renamed the ng2x to "fenrir" instead of "caliburn"
currently making the shoulder, going well so far
AAR-002A antitank coilgun
bonus: i've made proper mounting brackets for shoulder weapons
also applies to back weapons, though those are generally rarer
the back mounting units are generally used for equipment such as RISE units, or to stabilize heavy shoulder equipment
Auroral Atomic Corporation
big bread's hell's: military grade piloted robots and subnuclear fission reactors
Automated attack craft, "Remotes"
3 unit array, G100 "Firefly"
these models use a higher performance cannon than most remotes
other than that the bog standard affair for an atmosphere specialized model, however those were quite rare due to remotes being more common on goliath frames (which are used on the moon) and on spacecraft
used to fire from long distance or to swarm targets
generally cheap enough that they'll kamikaze once ammo is depleted
thus they are designed to be deployed but not returned
propulsion is generally a basic hypergolic rocket
WE SAWED A MECH IN HALF
AND REPAIRED IT WITH ONLY FLEX TAPE
a simple, yet clean UI
probably not the canon version of what the screens look like but eh
the top one usually displays the view of the cameras, alongside targets and target locks
cockpit hatch open
not all cockpit hatches are the same, but this is the design used on series 1 and 1.5 models, which were the most common
usually a ladder was involved, with the pilot entering from the side
the head can also fold open on it's own, allowing the pilot's head to peek out
So like WHAT is the laser
Hyper decomposing
yes i get it, any time you see any machinery with panels it reminds you of that
oh i am so glad you asked
i've been meaning to do a megaloredump on those for a looong time

so first ill get into hyperdecomposition reactors
basically, one of the defining features of the setting these robots are in is a fictional element, areium
at some point, reactors were developed that used its incredibly unique properties to rip it apart into just quarks
(yes a core game with them is planned)
anyways, this setting also has a bunch of fictionalized versions of particles
strange matter can be used to accelerate these "origin quarks" to very high velocities
hyperdecomposition cannons fire the reactions of areium fuel dust out at extreme velocities
the high speed wipes out armour
the anomalous properties of the quarks cause massive thermal swings, degrading integrity
the high heat from the reactor melts everything
2 issues exist:
just bringing one of these things into the atmosphere would wipe out the entirety of earth, leading to MASSIVE restrictions
the recoil is so massive they're basically a rocket engine
there are many anomalous properties of these quarks, meaning it took until 2044 for hyperdecomposition reactors to enter mass usage
before that, areium-yttrium alloys were used in fusion reactors, as they made great room temp superconductors
this also leads to plasma projector tech, these can be used as
plasmathrowers (essentially space flamethrowers that can turn into plasma guns)
energy radiators (sheets of plasma used to dissipate spacecraft heat, can double as an anti-bullet shield for critical sections)
and plasma blades on goliath frames
I think because the actual heated part that's projected is so small the temperature itself wouldn't immediately destroy everything, think of it like lasers where the microparticles themselves are REALLY hot but they can only pass off so much heat at a time, along with them being small so they don't carry much heat
So I don't think temperature would cause immediate problems
the "wipe out earth" part is due to the fact that the strange matter acceleration elements assimilate the atmosphere into more strange matter
Ahhh
Hmmm
why it doesnt affect the gun... idk
im thinking probably a jacket of origin quarks, since it isnt affected by it
wdym
hyperdecomposition reactors avoid melting by having cooled origin quarks constanly be injected into the chamber
this also ignites reactions when new fuel is added
very little fuel is used, generally injected in the form of a fine metallic powder

?
All this is overwhelming because I suck at actually understanding what is behind the smaller thingys
oh sorry
Dumb it down if possible
i get a bit.. overzealous when it comes to explaining by little worldbuilding lore thingy (originally it was just for a core game)
ill try
what do you wanna know?
Funny how it evolved into that
How does the chamber that the reactions take place in NOT immediately get obliterated
the waste from the reactions goes through a steam generator, the cooled waste is then re-injected from all angles to cool down the chamber walls and push back on the reaction, it also acts as a catalyst for more reactions
Ah so like the space shuttle engines how the fuel itself is utilized to cool it down, but in this case is recycled
Since the fuel is very cold, which in this case also seems to be the case
the exhaust is used for cooling, the fuel is just directly injected in small amounts
but yeah basically
So then what does the exhaust do in being recirculated
Do more than just one reaction take place
im not sure exactly what you mean but usually some of the recirculating exhaust is skimmed off and sent into storage, or just vented to space depending on if the facility is on the moon or not
the reactions are usually "pulsed"
only a bit of fuel is injected at a time
the exhaust product is also used as a catalyst
and the stranger there among them had a big iron on his hip
yeup
a mech scale revolver
with a twist
it isnt really a revolver
its a prototype radiation weapon
essentially all it did was take a tiny fusion generator and eject the plasma at high velocity
still very WIP tho
some more in depth lore:
the weapon uses a compact tokamak to generate plasma, and fires in a single powerful shot (as opposed to plasmathrowers which tend to be more like flaming streams of gas)
the tokamak powers itself via a turbine mounted at the back
energy is stored in batteries for each shot, however some has to be drained from the arms goliath's generator to make up for losses
its a surprisingly low generator impact weapon due to this unique characteristic
unfortunately it never entered mass production, mainly due to issues with radiation
generator impact tends to be high on coilgun type weapons and plasmathrowers
lasers tend to have built in reactors, and regular weaponry doesnt use much power
regular weaponry mostly just uses power for cooling, to prevent cooking off
THEY SAID PEAK COULDNT BE IMPROVED UPON
BUT THEY WERE WRONG
MORBIUS SWEEP RESEARCH FACILITY MEGAUPDATE
holy peakadyne
desert type arms goliath
an early auroral atomic corporation prototype
being used to test energy weapon backflow power
weapons such as fusion plasma revolvers and nuclear lasers could be used to generate power, which when paired with electric jet engines, could allow for infinite hovering time
non-canon joke build
i present to you
the warhead that chases you down and launches drones and missiles at you
So like those tanks in TF2 Man-Up where it transports a bomb, but in this case it's actually protected
That does seem kinda practical rather then just have an unarmed carrier that would rely off other means of protection
alas... doomed to being non canon
canonically antimatter has an interesting reputation due to the helios dynamics incident
so basically my old game, cprc is canon, including the group
essentially, auroral atomic saw it as a threat to business due to the fact that their reactor design could overthrow the monopoly on tokamaks
so they did what any sane company would do and launched a cyberattack that resulted in the injectors misfiring
this resulted in the reactor hall exploding, debris hit a pellet manufacturing plant (game differs from lore, remaster is due)
pellet manufacturing went up, debris hit power systems
complete power failure
antimatter storage generators exploded, and the antimatter exploded as well
no deaths luckily, but a massive disaster nonetheless
anyways to be relevant to the build ig
uhhhh
antimatter would probably be transported in a truck trailer with a built in generator, with escorts of arms goliaths
in space it'd be moved in the self powering container as well, but on a escorted spacecraft
before antimatter became a no-no it was generated at either the plasma research centre and used up directly by the AMCFR, or generated/harvested in orbital structures for research
Just this
||Brownie points if you know where this is from||
yeah ik where thats from but no not quite
by self powering i just mean a generator inside it
the container would be transported on a single container cargo ship
painstakingly labeled the SNFR pipe sketty
so i dont forget the function of each pipe
i wanna be able to pride myself on having pipe spaghetti with lore
the left side handles gases, right side handles emergency systems, back is coolant, bottom is the startup piston
ill probably roughly display stuff on a large qserf-style board in the CR, so you can get a basic idea of how all this works
What does the inside of it even look like considering it has to somehow account for this????
no clue
maybe i should work on that but eh
stuff you can see is better than stuf fyou cant
lemme try to figure out if i can make lore for that bit though
i guess this?
yellow ring would be a slag collector, designed to skim off molten chunks of core hull
blue would purge excess coolant from the core loop, since the coolant is the exhaust
and red would flood the boiler section with helium if shit gets bad
the boiler usually has water running to and from the steam turbine inside it, sometimes it'll switch to a loop that runs through the E condenser, and if shit gets real bad water can be drained and liquid helium can be injected instead
liquid helium is a last resort that can cause the core to completely fail, but usually stall the reactions and drop pressure quickly
starting to think i may need a switchable display for each subsystem
gen 3 arms goliaths are powered by nuclear fusion instead of hydrogen fuel cells
they have greatly improved manuverability and speed
and yes the round bits are fuel cells
it uses 4 of them due to how much fuel is burnt by the fusion drive
a generator only has 1
legs are done
just need to do the arms and wings
oh and the armour skirt (rn its a placeholder)
there are 3 wing variants as well
1 - main wing set, acts as airbrakes as well as having RCS thrusters in them
2 - space wing set, just trusses with RCS thrusters
3 - atmosphere wing set, set of foldable wings for flight
There were many attempts to topple the Auroral Atomic Corporation's monopoly on fusion energy.
One such attempt involved ICF fusion, using nuclear pumped lasers to generate high power lasers.
(very WIP screenshot, lore is contradictory cause i haven't dusted off this project in a while)
not sure if i do wanna go with the glowing red for the ring
shoulder done
progress on the reaction nucleon generator
decided to do a chamber overhaul and started work on the PL maintenance bays
working on CR..
quite WIP still but i can start to see the vision
the irritating citrus will probably be replaced with a core diagram
still working on the above game, but i thought i'd do a quick detour to make a towing spaceship
