sanctified food items give sacred points
with the "sacred failsafe", you can use these points to:
** ** A. - kill a number of monsters based on how many points you have, starting with the monsters
** ** nearest to the failsafe, and
** ** B. - make less monsters spawn the next night
that's about it
you have capacity like with colony points, and the sacred storages increase these
dusky dragon
the storage, on the left, increases the amount of sacred/holy points you can have (and thus how many zombies the failsafe can kill)
the failsafe, on the right, allows you to use the points

And how do i know how much the holiness i have?
i think it may be visible if you click on the failsafe, not sure though
