I used the long screws and ended up tightening the cooler too much the first time. Someone had mentioned that using the smaller screws gives you a hard stop that should be the perfect tension. Soooo yes/no

I'm doing a similar build soon, but it feels like you can spend 200-300 bucks extra on all these extra parts to min-max the temps on so many things. How much does it actually differ and is that really worth it...?

Hard to give you a true answer because I never tested the PC without the "extra parts". I would say you gain about 6-8 degrees

Financially I just have to look at if the gain is worth the monetary investment.
Like selling my 7800x3d for a 9800x3d, 10% performance and 33% more expensive. Simply not worth it from that standpoint.
So if there's one specific part/upgrade that actually makes the biggest difference it might be worth it, but otherwise...

You gotta get something back for that investment, its a hobby and you get back in different ways
