AMuS is reporting that Formula 1 is in discussion of bringing back the V10. One concept is to keep current regs going until 2028, another is to keep 2026 regs in place for 3 years instead of 5 before making the move to switch to V10
I have a feeling they will run the 2026 regs at 5 years and then toss the V10 in for 2032
Too much money has already been spent by all the teams to prep the 2026 engines and it would be too late to abandon that or only have it for 3 years

Engineers might have some tuning and tweaking of the setup that makes it preferable to the driver, but this can be done for anyone, I feel like actual engineering of a car is more broad and the driver is selected based on if they can make the best use of their platform
Like Ricciardo had a really good time using his particular style of driving in the Red Bull and Renault, but upon heading to the McLaren team the dynamics and engineering choices made for that car were not really suitable for him and he struggled to perform well
Whereas Norris made stronger results because he just knows how to maximize that style of car

To me, it feels quite wrong because RB are not treating drivers like humans, their decisions so far points to them looking at drivers as an asset only, like a part of the car that can be replaced on a whim.
