the cooler sits correctly, ive checked that 3 times
which cooler?
axp90x53
black one
even with fan at 1200 rpm it should sit at 75c at idle
i have tried pbo at -20
changed nothing
yeah
aight. and...long or short screws, stock mobo backplate or thermalright one, and what paste?
and can you get any pics of the mount? (both backplate and of the cpu socket from the side if possible)
it...would seem that way
what the fuck
honestly at this point I feel like the only possible thing is the CPU's fucked
something wrong with the IHS maybe?
I mean it doesn't have to be much off to cause this
like a 10 micron gap would absolutely fuck it
can you easily return and get a new one?
(could also be cooler technically but I don't think it would be THIS drastic. If you wanna be safe you could return both).
Idk everything looks normal
Also will pc explode if i don't clean tiny fingerprint of cpu?
The side thst makes co taxt with socket pins
no, but your family will die (it's fine but not preferable)
grocery store
But man
Why this have happened
Im home for 3 days!
To build this pc, Play some and go back to work
To another county
And hellyeah this cpu cooked
It runs games fine
It works fine
But is it hot
I expected 45-55c idle
But not 79c
I spent 6 hours
7*
Trying to figure out whats wrong
Maybe its the bios?
Its going to exlode if i dont?
Its made to run hot or what
I've seen its okay on benchmarks and fits in t1
What's wrong with nornal 53?
like...up to 3-5c worse, depending on circumstance
copper conducts heat a lot better than alu
it's not why this is currently fucked
but I digress
Yesh but 40?
Theres no reason for it currently
It wont drop 30c on idle temps
Get the x47 copper
Am5 naturally runs hot
Every air cooled t1 build as a x47 copper for a reason
Im not spending 2.5x the price on another cooler
Then enjoy your hot cpu and deal with it
Awesome help with idle temps mate <3
Sure helped
Pragmatism mate
what the fuck
Cu > alu as a conductor
Low temps on idle as its made to be > spending money
Every air cooled build has a x47 copper, why break the mold
but him having the alu cooler is not making the fucking 25+ C difference here
I think u missed the point lol
I don't get why you're hounding his ass about that. He knows it's better. He's not too concerned about that right now given he's 80% of the way to throttling at idle.
If ur not trying to help even a little bit dont comment on the post lols
If im not helping out ill Peace out
Thanks mate
I would return the cooler too tbh
there's something between the silicon and the air that's not conducting heat
based on how extreme it is, I think it's the CPU. But....I don't really have a way to rule out the cooler.
I'm really just running off past experience (of which in this there isn't much to go off) and intuition.
just...out of curiosity, what happens if you run a benchmark or something
I ran 20 mins cinebench
89 dead on he spot
yup that's a big fat throttle
i can get this chip to be cool
but when the cooler is 1400rpm
and exhaust is at 1100
idle
insane
@lilac kindle i think i found solution
just crank the shit out of the fan
its minimum 1100 rpm
and it runs at around 65c
mid 60s
idle temps now
maybe i just got used to big tower coolers
that i set the fan curve as it was bigger
andi need to be agressive af with smaller ones
(im trying to talk myself into custom loop) lolz
fan curve for cpu fan
still not sure if 65c on such small cooler is considered normal
It's not, there's something wrong, but
so shall i still return it?
my mate said his ran about same
but the chip is from china
not malysia
looks like x3d chips quality is all over the place
@shadow goblet what's your 7800x3d idle under the x36?
uhhh fug
gimme a bit to think
assuming my high load was about high 80's and it's tuned, I think it's like 50-60ish(granted it's without side panels on)
fan is tuned as well
so yeah, may need further tuning than PBO itself
as in, CO is not enough on its own
you gotta fiddle with ETC,TDC,PPT values
I can share my tune if you want
and see what that does
so 60c is considered 'normal'?
yeah AM5 is warm at idle. I get 55-60c on 7600 stock under a 47mm FULL copper cooler
but YOUR idle is fucked
im thinking about returning the cpu
Values are ppt 75, edc 65, tdc 70, CO -10
on an AsRock B650E ITX PG

yeah but i came home for 2 days just to build it 😂
500km from germany one way
but now i need to take it apart tomorrow

I think so. I can't personally think of what else is up.
@magic flare what fan % were you at before, when hitting 75c idle
like 700
700-900s
i think
now lowest it will go is 1100
Aluminum x53 and copper 47 should be fairly similar fwiw
Congrats on matching my 7800x3ds shit behavior tho. I just beheaded mine to fix it
