Ham is either debuting a bad year, or he's losing his edge
yeah that half second was from nowhere
Max has been known to just pull out tenths from wherever lol
for anyone who missed it, Andrea Antonelli only made 6th in both F2 races this weekend
Enzo Fittipaldi did another good thing for Brazil and secured a win on the Feature Race
Kush Maini fell back enough that Zane Maloney, the boy from Barbados, is now in the championship lead with Enzo Fittipaldi in 2nd and Dennis Hauger (one of RBR's top juniors) now in 3rd
France lol
Did one of the Mclarens start early?
no it's just the McLarens are fast rn
It's okay, we have Doriane
https://www.ddinstagram.com/p/C4S0_khNhGF/
Oop that might be a jump
ye
okay that's it
now Perez and Max just gotta carry it to the end
no wonder Max has been playing iRacing all night
bruh
watch him hop on iRacing later today
iRacing probably more of a challenge for him
he's got "unemployed friend at 2am" vibes rn but he's not unemployed he's just rich
2.5s on Per already
imagine if Max joins Mercedes, Russell would implode
STROLL
COME ON
Bearman and Leclerc double stack maybe
probably not
uh oh
that might be a penalty
Norris leading
okay that's funny "can you bring it back?"
what is Norris doing
good job Oliver
now you have to fight Goat Guanyu
Albon got track limit warning after being squeezed out by Magnussen
Teacher to bully and victim: " You are both at fault"
Max might be able to pull a sub 1:33 lap
Max wants to finish this race quickly to get into iracing
What's Mercedes strat with Lewis exactly?
Perez cancelling his penality
jfc
redbull seems untouchable this year
perez sub 1:33 lap as well
Red Bull 24/24 ⁉️
Piastri finally managed to overtake Ham with tires screaming for a replacement
wait nvm
Im signing a petition for Checo to be renamed to Minimum Verstappen
Good? He's only gone and secured his place in F1 history
The goat is in there
Youngest WDC. Ever.
also a penalties goat, bro got a penalty 9 seconds into his career
well at least this means Stake F1 isn't going to be here for another year, right?
does the takeover mean the Sauber name is over in F1?
Audi is buying out sauber to make a factory team so I'd assume so

The Special One™️
I forgot who this guy is
Some MaFIA guy
José
since Ayumu Iwasa is part of the RBR junior club
Super Formula results put Ayumu Iwasa at 9th for the start of the season with Theo Pourchaire at 18th
Tomoki Nojiri already starting off with a powerful pole into race win
and it could be a clean shot for Nojiri through the rest of the season as the previous champion, Miyata, is currently competing in Formula 2
According to the Red Bull report
It was just a bad start for Iwasa and the team, so hopefully it comes out better for the rest of the season
Max Verstappen on iRacing at 3am when the race is at 1pm
That annoying kid in middle school who games everyday but somehow get the best grades
After winning the race in Saudi Arabia, RBR are now tied with Williams for all-time race wins
and with 11 races behind Mercedes, by the end of this season RBR is projected to be 3rd on this list
they'd need another 2 seasons both with 100% of 24 races to beat McLaren's record
RBR might beat Ferrari at this rate
give them like
5 more seasons sure
Also I'm late the image is outdated by 1 race
RBR is actually 4th now with 115 wins after Jeddah
so they need 10 more race wins to beat Mercedes
so that'll be 2 races before summer break if Max wins the next 10 consecutive
It helps that they’ve been around for every season
yeah
Why would you @ ping me when there’s no other conversations going on right now? Lol
habit
I come from bapo where BA-red is 45 messages/minute
I'm also autistic and will have 3 conversations with one person in a single conversation
it's a good habit to be understood
nearly the entire history of F1 has had a Ferrari in it except the first race lol
I always find that the funniest part
rbr is coming in strong damn
I can't with this guy
Have you ever peed in your seat Max?
Luckily not, my God. One time I was very close to it, but that was back in the day in F3 at Norisring, because it was a red flag. So I was watching DTM, then I almost forgot to basically get ready for my race. I had to run back to get into my suit and helmet while all the cars were already lining up to the grid. And I jumped in the car while having to go to the toilet.
I was like, ah it's a 35 minute race right, should be alright. So we have the start. Start driving for a couple laps. And then there was a shunt, a red flag. I was like, Oh my god. So we have to wait on the grid and I was like to my mechanic, I said, "can I go to the toilet?" He said, "no we'll restart within 10 minutes." Well, 10 minutes became 20. 20 became half an hour.
Now I was sitting there and I was like oh my god, I really, really need to go to the toilet. So at one point I had to fire up the engine because the vibration actually helped, against going to the toilet.
The way Williams has started F1 2024 has laid bare the painful consequences of its much needed revolution.
It’s no secret that Williams has been battling with under-invested facilities and an outdated culture for many years, with claims of the team being 20 years behind its rivals in some areas.
But we had no idea just how desperate its situa...
You can blame a lot of Williams' failures to the fact that they cannot manage parts properly
Apparently the issues came down to the usage of a spreadsheet was incredibly difficult to manage and view, and it also lacked some key details that kept the team from being prepared for every situation
This is also allegedly how teams used to be managed like 20 years ago, so Williams is basically a time capsule of old workflow for F1
Damn, wish I could be there
Max not interested in leaving as the team is "where he wants it to be"
Weather's banging for the next three days! Sad can't see it in the flesh this year, but also glad there's no burning hole in my wallet 🙃
Oof, they're giving Logan's car to Albon?
https://fixupx.com/tgruener/status/1771084140693111227?s=46&t=EJP5WWGfpYiPGHFtIV6kDQ
https://fixupx.com/phortonf1/status/1771095697401446462?s=46&t=EJP5WWGfpYiPGHFtIV6kDQ
We hear Albons chassis can't be repaired over night & will go back to the factory tomorrow. Albon might get the only running car that's left if there is a realistic chance of points & if Sargeants contract allows Williams to make the swap.
AMuS (German): https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/formel-1/williams-chasiss-albon-crash-sargeant-monocoque/
Bro
That’s racism against Americans
Man, I feel for him
Ok Logan, time to let the professional do the job
British driver STEALS car from all-American Patriot
kinda sounds like crap atm
Til I learned that race strategy also happens at the factory
they have computers running simulation while the race is running
lmao
What would happen if Albon totals Logan’s car too
it's game over for Williams
and also they probably won't let Albon off the hook in the future
if he crashes his car this race then they probably won't give Albon another free pass whenever he crashes his car in FP
- This is only happening because they were late with the cars this year and don't have a spare yet
- Objectively Albon is more skilled than Sargent, if you're desperate for points it's the right choice
Unfair for Sargent? Yeah.
Still right choice for the team tho
Sergeant has been improving too. He’s still slower than most but at least he’s not sbinning and losing it as much
Verstappen apparently having a bit of trouble getting the front of the car to behave
Alonso put a faster lap than Verstappen before Verstappen crossed the line
Russell commenting on bad front braking performance
I won't be surprised if the Mercedes are mid this race
dunno what they did to the cameras/fov but it feels a billion times faster than im used to
Albon putting in solid performance rn
Hopefully he can get into Q3
Finally an Alpine in Q2
rip
Ricciardo got hit with a lap time deletion
Merc is shit
told y'all it'd be mid
Tsunoda my goat
🙏🙏
Verstappen just pulled some tenths out of his ass so Sainz is now 2nd
Pretty nice quali
Max sainz perez during the last runs were like I am speed
All three unreal tbh
Also my boy tsunoda pulling a great Q3 also, all things considered.
Watch how RB will fuck his race strategy somehow tomorrow 😂
No wonder Ferrari is replacing Carlos
Can't even get pole
Come to Audi, fam. We will treat you better
You can see how neglected Sainz is at Ferrari by how poorly his photo is done
sainz deserves better 😔
here's the starting grid
Tsunoada > Alonso and Ham
ok so what happened to Gasly
as an (ex?) Gasly fan
comeback from demotion at Brazil 2019
win at Monza 2020
constant P6s 2021
shitty AlphaTauri in 2022
absolutely nothing since
Ocon is partially better than Gasly on consistency basis due to Ocon's record of challenging Alonso for quite some time
Gasly is a good driver
it's just that Ocon is also like really good
but Alpine is trash
that's the issue for both drivers
I thought Gasly was seriously good
In 2020-21 he was putting that car up with the Ferraris, McLaren, Racing Points, etc
maybe it says more about Kvyat and Tsunoda but it seems like he was driving the pants off his cars
Obviously, the cars he’s had since then have been pretty shocking, but I still kind of expected more
It’s likely that the car’s design philosophy and functional configuration isn’t ideal for his racing style, and he may not be having as much luck in dialling in his set up, which results in suboptimal performance. That or he’s washed up
nah he seems to be suited to it by now, the problem is just the car stinks against the competition
SAINZ LEADING
HE'S LEADING
AND HE'S GETTING SPACE AHEAD
Verstappen having trouble controlling the car
VERSTAPPEN SMOKING
VERSTAPPEN HAS A SMOKING PART
HE'S FUCKING SLOWING DOWN
VERSTAPPEN IS OUT

Omg Ferrari can win
It's Norris vs Sainz now
probably not for Sainz
but Leclerc battle definitely on the cards
not Hamilton DNFing 😭
I wonder if there's something on the track
An engine failure and a brake failure is pretty odd
damn Tsunoda is fast
I think the pit stop chain is now on the way
He's just ok, but glad to see him in the points
THIS YEAR
Forza Ferrari!!!!
dang what a race
Leclerc up to 2nd and Sainz up to 4th
gap to Verstappen decreased to just 4 points
my goat Tsunoda in 12th
looks close for now but prob max will dominate the rest of the season unless he has a lot of dnf
curious how close the ferraris can get to max
the car is more experimental as compared to last year so there's room to assume that some races just might not be favorable
apparently the problem with the car this race was that the tires didn't really hook in and I'm guessing Verstappen pushed it hard enough to kill the rear brake
he did say it was stuck up since green flag
well he stated it was loose since like
qualifying?
probably since practice then
Red Bull also noted this race would be tougher due to the higher tire deg
so there might also be some argument that the car isn't using the tires as well as it should be able to
might be, but perez was fast before he overtook Alonso
apparently he got damage afterwards
hence the pace crawled
well the McLarens and the Ferraris were the only cars that did decent enough to be within range of the RBs
so I can understand why Perez seemed to lack pace once they overtook Alonso
plus the McLarens partially helped each other out with slipstream
Red Bull did say he got damage after overtaking Alonso
I feel sorry you didn't watch the replay without knowing what the results were
FIA sucks balls
Formula 1 YT channel thumbnail was Verstappen out in opening laps
Nice spoiler, regards
That's why I stayed off the internet until watching the replay
Well, not off the internet, but away from all social media and similar
Fun fact, all 3x Sainz wins had a Russell DNF
I can't watch a replay
I pay for Sky but they don't let me record unless I get the Satellite version

And I can't put up a dish downtown
Go old fashioned, leave the PC on playing the rawe channel and screen record while you sleep
I think that's how they did it in the TiVo days
Sky makes you install a proprietary player and it shuts down the stream if any other software is running. Even pressing screenshot button crashes it
And if I restart the player, they make me watch ads

Assholes
Yeah
I pay for the convenience but only get inconvenience
Might as well sail the seas
:ban:
Instead of watching F1, I can go sail the local lake
Wdym ban?
It's a popular leisure activity here
📝
6th to 8th
How many Max DNFs do we need for a Ferrari WDC
All of them
Tbh, I understand both pov, Alonso didn't try to trip Russel on purpose, but the FIA needs to make drivers afraid to do it on purpose
hehehe
Not as nice as after Australia 2022
You mean back to top 3
you'll either need to pay a subscription to F1 directly called F1TV
or you can go and find specific providers in your state/nation
F1 TV is locked in some countries sadly
yeah unfortunately some nations have prioritized the cable service to block F1TV
I know it's a thing in the UK
In France too
fortunately ESPN is just streaming whatever SkySports is playing so F1TV works here in the U.S.
🙏
It went from 8€ to 23€ to watch f1 in France
Because canal + bought the rights
Unless your isp also happens to be canal plus*
On YouTube? Pog
no you still need to be paying ESPN to watch it
Fuc
or you can pay for YouTube TV which is currently how I'm watching F1
nah unfortunately YouTube TV is a separate subscription
Rats
I will laugh my ass off if this is the battle 2025 has in store
even more so if the Papaya team comes out with a car that does the best next year
I thought that it was a meme. But the papaya is real
https://www.mclaren.com/racing/formula-1/2018/car-launch/mclaren-and-papaya-2174925/
For anyone not aware, Takuma Sato has been with Honda for ages in F1. It started in 2002 with Jordan, then switching to BAR-Honda in 2003-2005 before then going to Super Aguri in 2006-2008
Currently he competes in IndyCar
Previously he was responsible for assisting the Junior Honda Driver school with names like Yuki Tsunoda
so he has a very good eye for talent
I wonder who's going to use unit the Honda PU in 2026 now that Redbull want to do everything themselves
Aston Martin
RBR will still have some alignment with Honda in other series like Super Formula and Super GT, though, so it's interesting that the one spot they won't be aligned is at F1 level
The cojones on RBR though
Also Red Bull still has ties with Honda's Junior Driver Academy 🤭
I know Sergio Perez was put up as one of the top positions in the program
Also for anyone interested
Honda calls the PU in the RB18 to the current RB20 "RBPTH002"
Which likely means Honda's RA621H is considered "RBPTH001"
It's more that Honda said a while back they were committed to exiting in 2026
So RBR had to find someone else, so they signed up Ford.
Then Honda decided to come back, saw RBR signed Ford, went to Aston Martin.
Horner was moaning about thise situation in some interview, saying that if Honda had reversed their decision earlier, RBR could have continued with them in 2026
Ford? So redbull powertrain is still not going to be a fully independent unit then. It makes sense, I thought that RBR had massive cojones and said "we'll make a new motor from the ground by ourselves"
Well it's not like Ford is experienced at F1
Honda Racing Corporation has established a new site in the UK known as Honda Racing UK which will be home of the Honda F1 operations for the future as well as the combination for Honda's motorcycle racing activities as well
This new company has been founded to primarily perform post-race maintenance and preparation tasks on the Honda built F1 power units (PUs), whilst also operating as a logistics operation for the European region. The establishment of HRC UK will further enhance the effectiveness of Honda’s PU operations, in support of the partnership with Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team.
This comes as no surprise since older Honda F1 facilities were sold off to RBR to help create RBPT, so this is just part of Honda's restructuring to support F1 again
Most of what they'll need is already here, it's just some logistics measures in the UK they'll need to get operational again
Also Ayumu Iwasa will be participating in a Japanese Grand Prix practice session
I wonder if this would also influence their LMDh / Hypercar strategy, I could see them wanting to manage and enter WEC for their Acura LMDh from the UK office
as apparently the IMSA operations are mainly headed only by their US office
HRC is still considering the plans for a WEC entry, but there's no confirmation on it
This might make things easier since HRC UK should oversee all European motorsport operations
The only issue is that Acura is not involved in Europe, so the WEC version would need to be rebadged to Honda in order to fit in which might also suggest a new look to be made and that's just a bit more effort than some would like at Honda
ye
There's also the issue with making more cars to race. LMH/LMDh makes it easier to secure a win if you have more cars on your team and this is something that Ferrari and Toyota are looking through with and Porsche already has
So it's not something they can do for 1 car it'll be like 2 which can be a pretty significant cost to look at and maintain
plus you gotta find more drivers for them and it's just a lot of work
wait honda staying as an engine manu? I am out of the loop
i thought they pulled out hence rbpt and stuff
for aston i think
Yeah they decided to come back after RBR scrambled to find a new engine manufacturer and thus signed up Ford.
Honda, I swear to god...
When the going gets tough, the weak (Honda) pull out right before the going gets good
ford v ferrari round two
RBR Power Trains isn’t allowed to use Honda IP do they have to develop a new engine with Ford
I always wondered how RBR could make an own engine and how much of the Honda staff transferred over but turns out it was still all Honda with just a skeleton crew managing the endeavour on the RBR side
Would’ve otherwise been real sad for Renault as they can’t make a decent engine
Honda has a very in-and-out history with Formula 1
Brawn GP 💀
All that investment, and they just gave it to Brawn with a year of support. Imagine if they'd stayed, no Mercedes
Yeah
Basically Honda left in order to prioritize greener opportunities with their research and development. They sold their UK facilities and engine at the end of 2021 to RBR which is incorporated into RBPT. The engine is only allowed to be called an RBPT now.
After continued discussion of the engine rules in F1, Honda joined back in after seeing that F1 will be using sustainable fuels to power their engines which fall in line with Honda's interests.
Honda has done the bottom dude at least twice now
By this point RBPT was already decided on being an independent branch, so the only thing Honda was able to get back with RBR is continuing some minor development and maintenance of the engines.
RBR is going to be going RBPT for engine design and production, and Ford's involvement for 2026 is just an R&D trade plus a naming scheme. RBPT already stated they have an engine design under development
I feel like RBR would have been quite happy to rekindle a works relationship if Honda had changed their mind and came back earlier
Before they signed up Ford
Probably, yeah. This also explains why Porsche was denied an opportunity with RBR as they continued with RBPT being its own independent control
Honda, knowing they can't regain involvement with RBR, decided that the next best option is to go to the team where the RBR engineers are also going to which is Aston Martin
The only other team Honda would've probably been involved with is Andretti, but they're still in the grey zone for introduction until at least 2028
And also Cadillac would have an involvement in the development of the engine, and seeing how Honda recently broke ties with GM makes me believe that Honda working with Cadillac would've been a pain
So Honda is back, and this was done because FiA set the engine rules to focus on sustainable fuels
rumors say that 2026 cars will be lighter, have less downforce, with a 1000Hp engine
Alpine engineers are probably sweating rn
they're smaller but not tremendously smaller
5% shorter 5% narrower
360cm → 340cm long, 200cm → 190cm wide
still a thing to think about with packaging
something that won't be as painful as I thought, though
sounds exciting on paper, but Max feedback from the simulator didn't sound great
the electric engine takes a bigger chunk of the engine total power, but the battery isn't bigger
it's seems that it's a bit tricky on long straight
This likely means team with better energy density in the battery will perform better on straights, then
Which is smart cause then that means part of the F1 investment is going towards battery technology even more
there will also be a greater interest on making a more efficient MGU-K electric motor as well
Max main complaint was that the battery didn’t last long enough to drive at max speed on straights. So you had to lift on a straight and instead of hard braking, you coast through the corner as this maximises use of the battery
It takes the skill out of cornering
That doesn't sounds like something Hamilton would like either
F1 drivers already have to look after tyres, I don’t want them to baby the battery too
"My battery and my tires are gone"
"Copy, we are checking"
Formula 1 slowly turning into Formula E
really wish we had Porsche in F1
Audi is Porsche
Everything is VAG
they would, but also getting them to develop their own engine wouldn't be ready until at least 2027 or 2028 so you run into a problem where they would be late to compete
same issue Cadillac is currently facing since they have to establish facilities in time for it, and they stated the engine won't be ready til 2028
something that I think the FIM accounted for when waiting to accept the entry for Andretti
Even Audi is struggling
Audi isn't struggling a lot with their engine design
they converted old LMP1 facilities to F1 facilities for engine design which should be done or nearly done soon
I mean, I'm not saying that because there is/was/ought to be an actual timeline for Porsche joining
Mercedes, Ferrari, Honda are pretty entrenched and probably aren't going to want a drastic engine change, is all
well yeah, but Porsche wants to be at the start of the 2026 rulechange else they risk being left behind in the pack and that's something Porsche doesn't want to do especially since they already have a respected racing history on hand
Cadillac is willing to take that risk cause they don't care and would want to join in anyways
Audi should name the car Quattro F1
wonder if Renault would be like "finally we can leave these things in the past" or if new powertrain regs would finally push them out
So much downforce, it drives like a 4-wheel
They're just gonna call the team Audi Sport F1
it'll be an opportunity to rethink the entire engine design so they're probably the former there
VORSPRUNG DURCH TECHNIK
the engine they're using is the old design from 2021 which isn't that good
they're definitely wanting to overhaul the whole thing since it just isn't competitive in weight or power
They will have to anyways, lots of changes
they should make 4 cylinder engines an option or something
if they're going to increase the electric motor power
they should make 5 cylinder engines the new standard
high revving Inline-5 would also give us back the sound
The energy recovery is less complex, looks like it will be less efficient
Less downforce too. Well see
This video depicts what the Audi Quattro may have sounded like if its engine revved up to 16,000 RPM...
I was kinda thinking V4
nobody's gonna want V4
why would nobody want a V4
Because we want V12
V4 is better than V6
in what way, balance?
sound
Wasn’t it V6 -> V4 turbo?
they're also balanced
The transition
I'd rather make an Inline 5 for sound than a V4
the harmonics are far better to listen to than what's basically a similar harmonic to a screaming V8
unless you grew up around early 2010s F1

I remember this from 2022
inline 5s have a major third, same as a V10
the firing order of 4 and 8 cyl engines are going to have a perfect fourth and sound similarish
yeah and an Inline-5 just sounds better

I think this clip of an RSV4 in the distance is a decent argument for V4s
I got the video
this sounds better easily
there's not much of a change over the rev range with a V8 over V10
whatever that video is trying to demonstrate it would probably be better without deafening music and Brundle drowning it out
oh for sure we'd all love for the V10s to come back, but I just assume that more cylinders is off the table
I just wonder how a high rev V5 would sounds like
ah yes, Honda was the only one mad enough to do it
VW was what I was thinking of
I vaguely heard that it was painfull
but yeah an inline 5 is basically just half a V10
Honda was also mad enough to do that oval piston thing too
wish they'd be madder again

Ferrari is set to bring massive upgrades to their car, following their dominant 1-2 result at the Australian Grand Prix. Ferrari hopium vid
guys ferrari is going to win next year trust
as a new person when I hear about hamilton and mercedes' win streak then see him finishing so far back it's surprising
Ahh
I started watching F1 in MSC era
With my dad
He still raves about 90s F1 btw
when are we gonna finally have a season which isnt max verstappen winning every race
either when another team finally has a designer who puts out something super interesting
or Adrian Newey drops dead
I haven't met Adrian Newey yet, so please do not let it be the latter until then

*i might have forgotten dnfs, but ill take that
6 races have been completed for Formula 2
Oliver Bearman has fallen out pretty heavily while Kimi Antonelli looks to be closing in the gap between him and consistently getting a win
Ritomo Miyata from Super Formula is doing a solid job at 10th place, but not showing the performance to challenge anyone higher than Antonelli right now
RBR Junior Dennis Hauger looks to be in a much better form this season which could prove crucial to his acceptance into F1
Zane Maloney is the hotshot here this season, and he's currently working with Sauber
I wanna visit it
wdym
Also Hamilton is one of the luckiest drivers if you look at how well his past cars have performed
thats why I said reverse alonso curse, he only makes good career choices. Look at Merc rn vs Ferrari
wouldn't it be funny
Aston Martin is being ballsy lately
OOOOOOOOO
This si gonnabe fun
I'll take a shot for every driver aquaplanning
Sainz didn't fair to well in 2022's Japanese GP which rained quite heavily
I expect this'll be Verstappen's whole gig unless the car isn't set up to the degree he wants it
I think so?
This was likely done due to the time required to modify the car away from Albon’s set up and seat configuration back to Sargeant’s. Makes sense to just keep things as is and give Sargeant the repaired one
Sargeant is a good team player but that won’t be appreciated if he can’t improve his performance. He’s in a shitty situation
His mediocre performance got him into this shitty situation
you're not kidding
Two drivers, two crashes. It’s the chassis

Both drivers went and caused a hiccup to the car causing their crashes
Albon's crash in Melbourne was related to upsetting the vehicle upon the exit of a kerb, and then unfortunately overcorrecting the mistake causing the car to slam left-side first into the barrier
Logan's crash was related to sending it wide on the grass and causing the car to spin due to the strong grip on the left side of the vehicle over the right
That's also why people were mad at Albon for taking Sargeant's car after crashing because it was clearly Albon's own mistake
Boys, is this copium or shitbox reality?
copium
time for the verstappening
Albon pole, Sargeant P2, stop the session
Need Tsunoda good points this weekend
do it for Honda, Yuki!
q1: alonso p2, stroll p16
good day to be a Sauber fan

Ocon beating Gasly as God intended
Looks like the Aston can utilize a softer set of suspension compared to the McLaren judging by how the car didn't jump nearly as high and oversteer as hard
LOL
the track domination being mostly Yuki compared to Daniel is funny
Washed
Time for the Verstappening
solid job from checo
It's going to be an easy 1-2 finish this weekend unless the team fucks it up like last race
but I doubt it cause they're probably being forced to double check the brakes
What happened to Ferrari
I only saw the results
Also Lando monster lap or McLaren with good form?
It's time
ALEX ALBON OUT
RIP Danny
Yuki had a terrible start but made a great overtake on Daniel, the fact he would've been out if he didn't land that is what I'm amazed by
Confirmed racing incident there, pretty much just looking at the Aston while not noticing how close the Williams was, very unfortunate end
yup, lap 1 incident
What a race
Large two car crash on the first lap, 3rd corner.
The race is almost immediately red flagged and we're still waiting for them to repair the barriers and restart
Bruh
Back in
and the french friends touch
Yuki points as God intended
Sainz should start driving his heart out just to make this interesting
Sector 2 yellow
let me see
NOT SARGEANT
just a little rallying
Sainz with 55 pts
imagine where Sainz would be in the championship if he hadn’t missed Saudi
probably 3rd
He either deserves a seat at RBR or Aston Martin
Daniel is currently being cooked rn
I think he deserves a seat at VCARB
I just wanna see Yuki Tsunoda get back to a position where he was ultra dominant like he used to be in Formula 4
It's funny Tsunoda is like naturally talented at this
kinda reminds me of how Kimi Raikkonen never took racing super seriously and just wanted to drive for a hobby
Kimi was also fast-tracked to F1, like Max
Tsunoda isn't a bad driver but success in lower series doesn't necessarily predict success at the top level, I mean all of the drivers had success in the feeder series to get to where they are
now I think it'd make sense for him to go to AMR and that would definitely be a better seat than RB
but the RBR system has 5 valid drivers for their 4 seats and Sainz looking for a job and a few other candidates that they could poach from other teams if they wanted to
Tsunoda has certainly done enough so far to guarantee that he won't be the one to be replaced by Lawson, but I don't think he's the best bet to take Perez's place, and that's if they even choose to drop Perez
Imagine if Tsunoda is poached by Mercedes
would be funnier if they poach sainz
well the funniest would be poaching stroll after lawrence gets a 20% stake in mercedes
AMR will want to hold onto Alonso, right?
I only see an open seat if AMR gets sold
I see an open seat entirely cause I don't know if Stroll can continue being supported at his own team when better offers can be had
how long can Lawrence Stroll keep supporting his son before AM's board demands that Lance is removed from AMR for someone else?
Honda's already at Lawrence's door and they've got a clean offer with Tsunoda's contract
A pairing with clear no1/2 driver has been successful. I can see Stroll being no2 driver just to be in F1 with his dads money
Sure but Tsunoda could also be a clear 2nd driver as well
They need a better car for that though
I mean Tsunoda has no chance of challenging Alonso from our current understanding of his ability
Yuki seems too ambitious. Would he be happy with team orders even on weekends in which he has the pace?
He'd be the one being mentored by Alonso rather than actively challenging him
I mean he dealt with it quite fine with Gasly in the past
and while his recent harshness with Ricciardo was felt, it can be argued he acted like that because it was clear he was faster
Still he got over it and moved on
Yeah man. Not worth it.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Look at RB dragging a slow Perez
They want a dull driver
Tsunoda is too hot headed for a no2
So then how could an Alonso pairing be any worse?
Again, we currently don't see Tsunoda touching the level of Alonso's capabilities
While Tsunoda is still learning, he's definitely not up to snuff with a guy like Alonso
I mean he already had a tough time with Gasly before, and Gasly is currently having a tough time matching against a guy who's the only person to beat Alonso in points in the same car
While Tsunoda is impressive, we just can't make the argument that he's currently matching that level of skill just yet. But it is very clear that Tsunoda makes a better offering than Stroll due to his regularity to score points in a slower car while Stroll is struggling in the back of the field with a far better car
AMR want points, it's how they can keep their stuff together, and having closer finishes between 2nd driver and Alonso would make it far easier to maintain a high position in the standings than if one is failing to make points regularly
Aston Martin could've cleanly had 4th in the WCC last year, but Stroll's drag on the team is what cost them that valuable position, so unless Stroll can get his act together during the rest of the season, Tsunoda looks to be a more appealing option when Honda can easily push the kid in
Helmut Marko would like to have a word with you :
https://www.gpblog.com/en/news/269397/marko-sees-tsunoda-perform-and-compares-him-to-verstappen.html
Yuki Tsunoda showed his good side at his home Grand Prix in Japan. The Visa Cash App RB driver managed to score a point, partly due to his overtaking efforts. Red Bull Racing top advisor Helmut Marko says in his column on Speedweek.com that Tsunoda matched Max Verstappen in Japan.
Marko, therefore, admires Tsunoda: "At the second start, Yuki did sensationally well. His overtaking manoeuvres were the show of the day. The fans were completely over the moon. His weekend was at the level of Max, Alonso and Co. Flawless, a great performance under the pressure of his home race.
~~haters will say that his dementia is starting to kick in ~~
Yuki deserves praise for his recent performance but he’s definitely not at Max’s level
Though now that I think about it, he is likely as good as Max used to be when he was greener 5-6 years ago
That's why I also state that he can deserve a seat at RBR, too
Not at current Max level, but could maybe make a case to replace Sergio if Sergio makes himself less appealing this season
Sergio has actually been really solid, it’s impressive. Might be part of the same arc as last season and we might see his performance fall off a cliff again, but we might also see a really strong performance from him as well
Just let Yuki become audi n°2 driver
I’m shipping Sainz + Seb for those seats
I want sainz in RBR
I doubt vettel is coming back to f1
Why? He has repeatedly said that he would not rule out a return to F1
from his infamous instagram video, it seemed pretty final. He's having a great time racing and doing other things rn
I'm saying they should just hire Vettel to Audi like RBR had with David Coulthard
Vettel would have experience on how RBR acted as a team to get him his domination from 2010-2013, and stayed as a top contender in F1 after the introduction to hybrid powertrains after losing out to Mercedes-AMG. I could also see him being a valuable brand ambassador for Audi since he's German
At most he could be a pretty cool test driver for Audi
Gets him in the car, gets to have the chance to experience some of the grand prixs again, and is part of the active help for the team
Vorsprung durch Vettel
You've convinced me. Vettel may return
We'll honestly have to wait and see, who knows if Porsche will snag him instead for Le Mans
honestly i can see vettel doing an alonso and dominating the other championships and returning to f1
2nd driver to win both wdc and wec
Honda hopes it can one day be reunited with Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen after it moves its engine supply from Red Bull to Aston Martin for 2026.
hinting at a possibility for verstappen to go to AM?!?!?!?!?!?
or more likely they want to return to rb after a year with am
they signed with AM to be an engine supplier until 2030
shit
But research by Motorsport.com has uncovered that while the track looks like it has been painted, what has happened is actually a bitumen surface treatment that is commonly used on roads in the United States and Asia.
Bitumen is applied in fluid form to the track surface to help bind with the surface of the existing circuit. The idea is that it helps eliminate dust, improves waterproofing and also prevent disintegration of the track.
It is understood that this work was done in Shanghai last year, and the varied colouring around the track is the result of this treatment having been worn away from track running that has taken place since.
The manner of the treatment means it will likely further be worn away over the F1 weekend, which could open the door to varied levels of grip around different parts of the track.
Uh oh
Lots of s🅱️inalla this weekend?
Fernando Alonso says the extension with AMR is likely his last one, and I bet AMR will be his last team before he fully retires from F1
Not a max supporter but I want this 😂
2026 Merc no 1 driver Max Verstappen
That's absolutely lovely
@tardy socket
pit-wall is keeping track of the storm incoming
we might see rain during quali 👀
the Mercedes is mid this weekend
why tf is there a fire
oh
it's the sparks from the cars jumping the curb setting the grass on fire
Perez fastest in SQ1
SQ2 under way
probably a chance of rain in the middle of this
Sauber doing better than Mercedes
Both Saubers into SQ3 ⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️
Leclerc in the barrier
spun it, collided with the rear end
wasn't huge damage probably
NORRIS POLE
HAMILTON P2
ALONSO P3
if only alonso could secure a win 😔
hopefully verstappen takes out himself and Hamilton in one go
Norris to Hamilton pole is now the 2nd largest gap in the history of the hybrid era
the largest gap is Rosberg on Vettel at the 2014 British Grand Prix
and third largest is Verstappen on Hulkenberg at the 2023 Canadian Grand Prix
But that’s in the wet… I wouldn’t even consider this a spicy stat
And a sprint pole
That too
dont forget that sprint race is in 34 minutes
Norris went wide, the fool
Hamilton leading now
Carlos Sainz pressuring Verstappen
The Mercedes is not the best car this weekend, I wanna see Alonso win
Sainz and Verstappen still battling
gap between Verstappen and Alonso is 1.7
RBR Sprint Race weakness really taking effect here
my mainstream brain think that fast is fast, but RBR is super mid in sprint 🙃
Alonso still holding 2nd
I want to make the bet he's buying grip
first half of this will just be hanging around with Hamilton before he uses the extra grip to attack
Max already experiencing the 2026 experience
nvm Alonso just not holding
Max vs Hamilton for the race
this is gonna be interesting
1.8 seconds between Max and Hamilton
uh oh
Verstappen leads at half distance
literally the same mistake he made back in US 2022
already 2 seconds ahead? damn he's fast
nvm, fast mean fast
THROUGH GOES PEREZ !!!
what a moment
Hamilton out in Q1 that's insane
Perez also almost eliminated in Q1, if Tsunoda didn't fumble the middle sector that would've been the drive that knocked him out
Sainz spun and hit the wall
Sainz is going out again, car looks to be fine
no alignment damage, only major front wing damage
this is funny
Just tuned in. What happened to Lewis
eliminated in Q1
bro fumbled the last hairpin turn by braking just a tad too late, with too much front brake bias, which lost him like 6 tenths
wide variety of F1 fans here in China, really enjoying it
also a Mexican fellow who's there supporting Checo, I swear Mexicans are just everywhere
RBR 1-2
Verstappen pole
sainz sbinalla
and now got beaten by mclarens
didnt expect that
alonso P3 again
lets hope checo and max fuck it into the walls so the rookie of the year alonso can get the win
We could see a rain race tonight
lets go
Alonso holding the outside like that god damn
Not Hamilton having to beef with Zhou for P18
nice outside move
tire gone? no, tyre worst
Sochi 2021, I want you back Sochi 2021
NOT BOTTAS !!!!
waaaaay too late of a VSC call
Full Safety Car now!?!
wew
how many marshals needed to push a car?
ricciardo got hit by stroll who got hit by hulk?
Guys
What happened to Ferrari closing the gap to RBR real soon
Also is LeClerc washed? What's up with that guy
Today was a bad day for a lot of other teams and drivers except RBR
Lando really drove above and beyond this weekend, though
hes just french
He's as French as you are Indian
real

“He’s saying my mistake? I had started to calm down, but that pisses me off. I watched his onboard. He’s not even looking at me. We start to brake, and his head is looking at the corner. […] That pisses me off.”
Drama
Monaco isn't france
it's worse
It's also not completely independent of France
Monaco is just too small to have competent sports leagues, so they are included in the French leagues
same for the railroad system
yea so it's french
Yeah, Danny such an idiot for slamming that brake
It'll not like Danny's wing was under piastri or anything
Hulk has been killing it. Went without a seat for too long
Poor guy, never got to show his full potential
the inbred window licker strikes again
people playing favorites 🤦♂️
personally I have always disliked F1's habit of being extremely boring (regardless of who it is), but that also means every time the sport has a competitive season for a championship the season is always a banger
Yeah I think it's just having to wait for when that specific team gets into the position of challenging RBR that we'll see something
but it'll be a while
Hamilton never did this, he cared about the spectators more than max does
I mean sure Verstappen's domination is unmatched
but Hamilton's years were still quite dominant
it was still a bit of bore to watch because really the only team that was marginally close to maybe deal some damage was Ferrari (but title winning hopes are out of the question for them at the time)
anyways that's why I recommend motorsport fans to consider watching other series to fill the time
Formula E has decent coverage, there's also WEC
and if you're really wanting to be insane, TCR European Series and TCR World Tour host their races live on YouTube :)
oh also there's the TCR European Endurance Series happening this year as well (all races are 2 hours long)
I’ve watched F1 since MSC days
I’m used to one driver dominating
Also F1 provides a lot of drama off the track
reminder that Perez is still one race win in points away from Verstappen
I expect the gap to grow, but also it would be very interesting if Perez can maintain a gap like this between him and Verstappen
would make Checo a serious case to keep around if he can pull that off for the rest of the season
it's gonna be HP blue
nah I think they're gonna call back to this
Ferrari will race a blue livery in Miami. Surely not you might say and yet they’ve raced in F1 in those colours before, in 1964. Enzo was furious that the FIA had refused to homologate the 250 LM to race in sportscars and handed back his competitors license. So the final 2 rounds of the F1 world championship saw the Ferraris entered by NART in t...
that's what Buxton says
the wording on formula1.com says "special livery featuring shades of blue" and "the design change will... feature two historic shades of blue"
I think "livery featuring blue" is deliberately different from "blue livery"
but we'll see
because if their normal red with white is tweaked to feature blue, then that would make it red, white, and blue
i dont understand the hate towards LH or MV
like people saying LH is better or MV is better etc
even worse "XX doesnt deserve XX"
peak hamilton will always be better than peak max
peak hamilton and peak max already fought each other and it was the 2021 F1 season
2021 came off the tail end of Hamilton's prime in 2020 and Max was really pushing everything he had to race in 2021 (of which we haven't seen much of since then)
Happens every time someone dominates, Schumi was given the same treatment.
In 5 years or less LH will be an undisputed formerly top driver, ditto for MV in 10 years
no lol
Peak Ham was 2018? 2019?
2020 probably
biggest points margin despite missing a race in a truncated season
the W11 was maybe Merc's best car, or at least in the running alongside the F2004, W05, RB19
for best car ever, I mean
€23 McLaren merch at a clothing chain for B and unwanted A grade clothing from many labels
Mercedes merch looks good but the other teams stuff looks so low quality
Could never wear that stuff
Only Verstappen can pull that shit off
Lol at that big blue HP
Anyway, Ferrari uniform is ruined
looks like Charles is wearing pajamas

Not Ferrari running Dinoco Blue bro ⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️
Mercedes Merch just be black
Cant wait to see Lewis in Red
Hamilton not doing as well as last year, and the Mercedes hasn't made a significant enough upgrade to keep up with the pack
Aston Martin in the same boat
Red Bull definitely starting to have its gap closed in by Ferrari and McLaren
nice operator
nice
AMuS reporting that Newey is reportedly leaving Red Bull Racing
and some people think it's for Ferrari
Translated from German:
Newey is said to be unhappy about the power struggle in the team and does not want to be completely pushed into the RB17 hypercar project
It is still questionable when Newey can leave Red Bull. His contract officially runs until the end of 2025. [...] According to rumors, Newey wants to be free for new tasks by the end of 2024.
🍿
I'm starting to think that Lewis got little birds telling him stuff. Or he's just incredibly lucky whenever he switch
yeah but wouldn't it be funny if he goes to AMR instead
Alonso last hurra
blue man group

I am thrilled and honoured to return to Stake F1 Team KICK Sauber in 2025 and to represent the global German car manufacturer and technology pioneer AUDI on its way into Formula 1 in the future. It‘s a big project with high ambitions and a huge challenge, a challenge that I am very much looking forward to. The conversations with Andreas Seidl an...
Adrian Newey should go to Audi
rather see him at andretti
Fuck Andretti
Andretti's still up in the air
I want him at Audi
when did they piss in your cheerios
I don’t care about Andretti but I do about Audi
I find a move to Ferrari a bit strange since he's declined it before, and it would be a bit odd to deal with the different racing climate at Ferrari compared to the better structured Red Bull
Like I straight up don’t care Andretti at all. Every time there is drama and complaining from Andretti, I skip the news
why though
I don’t mind them joining
But I don’t root for them

I never got why some fans were so passionate. Media here barely report on Andretti. People just don’t care about millionaire xyz trying to break into f1
i don't think that's really all that accurate to what they're trying to do
it's setting a precedent that joining f1 from now on is a bitch to do and andretti isn't just a random millionaire he's the only person to win a f1 title indy 500 and daytona 500
last american to win a gp
Could be a billionaire
My point is he’s privileged
And I don’t pity the privileged
lol huh
current f1 team owners aren't because they joined in the past before they made it nearly impossible to join?
They are already in it. I simply don’t care who’s already in or not.
It’s not like football clubs that’s owned by fans
It’s a commercial product owned by a private company
There isn’t fairness in it and never was
I simply don’t want argue for or against a team I have no affiliation with
i dont see how expanding the grid is anything other than a net win
there are conditions where it wouldn't be a net win
but at the same time, a lot of arguments against them joining are bad
Bro I don’t care. He can come he can not come. What annoys me is that Andretti fans moan and bitch at every opportunity even if it has barely anything to do with Andretti
Leave me alone lol
Americans just want to have a constructor win in F1
or at least not another Haas
A year ago every second thread in r/f1 was about how disgraceful F1 rejecting Andretti was. Mate, we race in a country with a dictator prince who had a journalist chopped up

~~Europe makes the best racing cars. deal with it ~~
I will not feel sorry for Andretti backed Ford fucking up entry into F1 nor did I when Porsche fucked up
how many ran Ford-Cosworth engines
big shocker european based racing series has europeans in it
a respectable amount tbf
I believe Ford is tentatively set to back Red Bull, and Andretti is planning to partner with GM via Cadillac
iirc that was one of the reasons Andretti's bid was rejected
yeah f1 mostly wanted cadillac
they want Andretti to run Cadillac powertrains from day 1 rather than be a customer team for x number of years while the powertrain program ramps up
which I understand, it makes sense from a branding and competition pov, not to mention the powertrain manufacturers have had a hard enough time making all the engines for existing customer teams
