idk if that thing is really reliable

#

in terms of usage

if its bottleneck you can't

#

its not measurable

#

You can sorta if you turn on OSD monitoring in afterburner

#

Enable core zero clock and percent usage

#

And same with gpu

#

You would want to see tr Cpu usage should stay under the 90% with the frequency stable

#

Possibly can get an idea from 3dmark as well

#

Looking at the chart for dips in cpu frequency during the benchmark

#

But the more likely thing to check is that the frame rate is being limited

#

Either by vsync or its hitting the frame limit of the engine, or a max in the game settings

#

If the game limits the frames then the gpu won't use more power/usage than it needs

slim glen
#

this is uncapped

#

2010mhz on the gpu

wraith perch
#

are you sure the game isnt limiting it?

#

it could be in game settings or nvidia control panel settings forcing vsync

#

if its not that then I dont know how it would be limited, other than by Afterburner if you are using afterburner

slim glen
#

v sync was (use 3d application setting), but i have it always turned off i the game settings

slim glen
wraith perch
#

Yeah so as long as its not power limited or temp limited in afterburner should be ok

#

Both sliders should be all the way to the right

#

I guess you could reset the profile to just see

slim glen
slim glen
#

before

#

i reset the profile on afterburner and redid the under volt and ran Heaven this is it

#

@wraith perch sry for the ping, just wanna let you know i updated it

#

i wanna say its cpu bottlenecking, becuse the waterblock is trash and causeing my cpu to thermal throttle even with a -.025 offset

slim glen
wraith perch
#

Something is very wrong

#

Cpu doesn't throttle in 3d mark or heaven though right?

#

Temps look less than 90c

#

Clock speed is stable

#

I would probably do full reinstall of gpu drivers at this point

#

Check "clean install" when reinstalling

#

Wait, isn't the 3dmark score normal?

#

Heaven is outdated, you can ignore that bench

#

3dmark seems normal

slim glen
#

are they not representative of the actual gpu useage?

slim glen
#

... idk whats going on

slim glen
#

.... i give up

wraith perch
#

hmm

#

are you on a riser

slim glen
#

yeah gen4

#

well an extender, its a ghost

wraith perch
#

check this in hwinfo whea error

#

and link speed

#

i doubt its the pci link but its worth checking

slim glen
wraith perch
#

whea is at the very end of hwinfo6
pci link is under gpu area

#

this is HWinfo64 v7.40

slim glen
slim glen
#

nvm

wraith perch
#

so your link speed is gen 3

#

doesn't really matter that much but if it was 4.0 it would say 16gt/s

slim glen
#

Riser/extender gen4, slot gen3

wraith perch
#

yeah

#

it wouldnt cause this problem

#

i dunno what to try next, i might try the gpu on another system or reinstall windows

#

maybe there's some power saving feature turned on we dont know about

slim glen
#

Hmm..

wraith perch
#

or the cpu is throttling but we cant see it

#

like it throttles but happens so fast it doesnt register

slim glen
#

I definitely need a new water block

#

It idles at desktop 50-70c

slim glen
#

@wraith perch idk tf is going on

#

i re did the drivers, checked the power and vsync setting.. updated everything

wraith perch
#

Some games have a fps cap, if it's not that you need to test the card separately and reinstall windows probably after that

#

You might try to fix your cpu throttle issue first though

#

I doubt that's the reason though

#

If it was the cpu it would still hit 100% gpu sometimes

slim glen
wraith perch
#

Probably reinstall os at this point

slim glen
#

70% load and 2040mhz

#

60-80fps

#

its usually sitting at 53c

slim glen
#

It's on a open loop
