I recently updated from Razer Synapse 3 to Razer Synapse 4 and spent hours migrating my macros, only to encounter a terrible and unusable experience. The process was frustrating, and the current state of Synapse 4’s macro functionality is unacceptable—especially in an AI-driven era. It might be time to reconsider your development team’s competence.

Major Issues with Macro Migration:
Broken Macro References: When a bigMacro contains nested references to a miniMacro, the migration fails to preserve these links, causing the miniMacro to go missing.
Chaotic Dropdown Organization: After migration, the dropdown list for selecting macros is completely disorganized—neither alphabetically sorted nor searchable (no fuzzy search). This makes reassigning macros tedious.
Execution Failures: Macros that worked perfectly in Synapse 3 now malfunction in Synapse 4, despite identical settings.
Spending hours reconfiguring macros only to face these issues is infuriating. The macro system in Synapse 4 is severely flawed and needs urgent fixes.

I expect a resolution or at least an acknowledgment of these problems.

The need of new clean sheet redesign of Intel CPU core idea after Nova Lake shall address urgent need to respond X3D V-cache compatibility and efficiency first approach throughout entire spectrum of segments, in the way how Max-Q theory works, peak power and peak performance do not equate to peak efficiency. @gloomy moon in this proposal all architecture shall be homogeneous in the way Zen5 and Zen5c are designed in terms of features. Desktops, HX laptops, workstations and Strix Halo-like designs shall be entirely P-core-only. Ditching hybrid core configuration in favor of multiple compute tile with redesigned HyperThreading (SMT) on above segment shall allow maximizing multithreaded performance and gaming performance as priority without noticeable increase of power draw. While regular laptops would remain hybrid but homogeneous core architecture except clock speed and cache hierarchy differences.
In terms of packaging, I would rather see the socket longevity for 10 years with just one socket combined with constant revisions of pin usage, in the size of LGA2066 by relocating SMD caps on the package itself next to tiles. For the desktops, HX and specialty ones the tile would still be Foveros-R/S with 3.5D EMIB, but configured by dual compute tiles with 8C16T each, and fused with a monolithic SoC tile die containing NPU, GPU, and all memory and I/O controllers in one. Thus no separate chipset needed on motherboards of HX laptops.
While hybrid cores would be more optimized with one single compute complex sharing L2 and L3 cache in a ring up to 6P+8E cores for total of 14 threads (P and E cores with no SMT and slightly smaller area, sandwiched core arrangement). Tiled architecture optional but with possibility of return to monolithic SoC, focusing more on iGPU and AI NPU.
Specialty ones in response to Strix Halo: focusing on even larger iGPUs up to 40 Xe-Next cores.
All would be CoPilot Plus qualified.
Provisional core names: Freya and Freya-E for P and E cores respectively. E core going big, but P-cores going bigger.

as a desktop user, I absolutely care about efficiency. higher power chips are harder to cool and produce more heat, and I really don't need an extra 100w dumped into my room on top of what my GPU is dumping in heat

it also makes sense from a cost perspective. worse cores are cheaper to produce, and still provide enough performance to be useful in tasks that require a ton of cores.

I don't think a full p core chip is a bad idea by any means, obviously it works great for AMD

It would be better when 8-P-core-only chip has TDP of 85W, and dual compute tile gets 170W TDP. 125W for 8-core with stacked L3 cache.
Much of higher power goes with SMT enabled. And most enthusiasts do not care about efficiency, just using all P-core-only all about maximize gaming perf as much as possible at all costs

This is why Arrow Lake fail as Zen 5 become a go-to for enthusiast gaming

Thus my reasoning for Intel to copy the way AMD does to regain enthusiast market share

Thus why a single unified core architecture for both performance and efficiency, the homogeneous hybrid architecture for laptops and single-type core architecture for HX laptops and desktops

This happened as Zen5 is inherently efficient as a performance core alone

With each domain has different performance needs, such as gamers want all P-core performance alone without any E-cores in any form, differing from cloud-optimized E-core and laptop-optimized hybrid core arrangements. This is why domain specific core arrangement is important. No single hybrid architecture fits all domain needs

doesn't really matter what your tdp is if your boosting algorithms have you drawing way more power than that

regardless the enthusiast market is tiny, those looking for high end rigs are usually picking a 9800x3d or 7800x3d

hell, the vast majority of PC users don't build their own systems, they buy prebuilts

that's why 14900k wasn't considered king. could it technically beat a 7800x3d in a lot of scenarios with careful tuning and overclocking? yes, but the average user sure as hell isn't doing that

at least Intel had the productivity crown before the 9950x came out

now they really have nothing besides Intel fanboys

and the server market too, but AMD is gaining huge market share there too

I think Intel is making a good move here by changing how they're doing stuff

Enthusiasts do care about efficiency tho. They just wouldn't admit it.

Not a single soul will look at a CPU pulling 400W TDP like an Intel CPU and be like "yup, this is ok".

At least that's for consumer CPUs like Core I.

For enterprises where Xeon or EPYC are used, maybe that's where they don't care about efficiency because the company pays for electric bills.

But still, better efficiency is always appreciated.

And also, nowadays we don't maximize gaming performance by upgrading CPUs.

The highest yield that AMD got with X3D cache compared to Intel is around 12-20% better performance.

With a decent GPU, the yield could go from 30-50% to 100%. Example: 5070ti vs 5090.

And anything after 240fps is irrelevant.

So there's really no point in sacrificing inefficiency to push for the highest possible performance in a consumer PC.

Both AMD and Intel are actually doing well.

AMD is winning only because no one wants to see their desktop pulling the same Watts as their GPU and how AMD refuses to give up AM4 where Intel keeps changing sockets for 1-2 years, practically killing all of their CPU prior to 2023.

So, efficiency DOES matter.

All see Apple’s patent back in 2020 when developing its own silicon for macOS and iOS. The purpose: increase utilization of on-chip memory or VRAM by only allocate the amount needed for a given workload, and being real-time allocation, reducing wastage of GPU and memory/cache resources to further improve efficiency even in ray and path tracing, and AI machine learning workloads. also, is this a first boot? what are your specs? sometimes first boot can take a while, especially on am5. I've seen memory training take upwards of 20 minutes before.

A lot of that is surface damage. You would run jumpers between the broken traces and epoxy over it. Pretty advanced stuff. My Dad was teaching how to repair this stuff when I was a kid and I picked up a thing or two. If it was mine I would try. You know thats getting rejected for warranty as it's considered user damage.

if you don't want to do any disassembly, blowing out the intakes using some compressed air (like phoenix said) will be better than doing nothing. depending on how clogged they are and what style of intakes your laptop uses, you might be able to remove a wad of dust (and pet fur, if you have pets) from the intakes using tweezers.

you shouldn't need to redo thermal paste or pads yet, they should last a while longer.

the proper way to clean it would be to pull the back cover off and then blow the dust out + pull the dust off of the intakes/heatsinks (what exactly you can and should do varies from laptop to laptop, every model is a little different). you should be able to look up a cleaning guide for your specific laptop on YouTube.

Would this way simplify the thread management? Ideally I think desktop processors shall not have any E/small cores, just big P-core and SMT all way around. This should not only simplify core thread management in workload at the same power draw but also becoming more domain and segment specific layout. Thoughts?

AMD has not yet tackled inter-CCD latency issues, so this shall be Intel’s chance, with Foveros and EMIB 3.5D packaging methods.
Above packaging and core arrangement is specific to desktop, HX laptops, HEDT workstations, data centers, and specialty ones for gaming console SoCs

Maybe that shall allow Intel to finally ditch chipset on HX laptops in favor of larger SoC tiles with all I/O expansion formerly on chipset directly integrated within the SoC package itself

And for laptops, would be better when 18APT and beyond go back to monolithic construction like how Strix Point goes.

This is why a unified core architecture for both performance and efficiency simultaneously shall be utilized and designed. Just micro optimizations for medium E-cores trading cache hierarchy and clock speed for core density.

Not to mention the headset randomly disconnects. multiplatform was a great idea for game pass, because it finally incentivised PC players to not buy a game in steam, but rather buy game pass for a month to finish a game

epic games really only does numbers because of fortnite, their game store does fuck all for sales in comparison to steam

competing with steam will be the real kicker here

exclusivity could work, but that requires the games to actually be really good, Mac hardware capable of running said games being common enough, and a shit ton of dev work on Apple's side. drivers take a long time and aren't easy to get working without flaws.

Mac hardware built for gaming won't sell if there's no games for Mac, games exclusive to Mac won't sell if there's no consumers to buy them. yes, EGPUs, but that's not a great solution.

also it's still really stupid that Apple's desktops don't officially support GPUs (last I checked). it's a full fat PCIe slot, it can and should support GPUs.

apple has never been sold for gamers. musicians... I was gonna say other examples but I cannot honestly think of something else. musicians are the one type of workstation user that typically chooses apple over windows that I can think of.

I'm unsure of how the hammerhead handles connections and honestly don't feel like researching it. I'd guess that one bud handles all of the connection and features for both buds, causing one side to drain faster since it will be drawing more power. however, if the earbud was designed by a competent company, this role of handling connection and features should switch between the buds every so often during usage to help balance battery drain.

to me, assuming that the earbud only recently started dying faster than the other side, it sounds like the battery in one of the earbuds is degrading. not much you can do. this is a major disadvantage with wireless, if the battery goes bad the device is bad.

you should be able to de-solder the old one and solder in a new one in, but i don't recommend this unless you already have experience with soldering and know what you're doing. looking up someone doing it, it doesn't look too hard (since really it just comes down to desoldering two wires and soldering them back onto the new battery)

Another option is like customizing your Z key to action a combination of 3 keys and pray that it can be customized on the game settings.
