basically. to explain a bit better because my first explanation wasn't great:

ssd can be thought of as permanent storage. your games and stuff you download are stored on here, as well as stuff like your operating system.

ram is where things like whatever programs you're running will be stored temporarily so that they can be accessed much faster by your CPU. you're right that essentially, yeah, the goal is to speed up the system. (if you use more ram than you have, your system will actually start using a little storage as ram. it's a lot slower and therefore not great for performance, but it can happen.)

vram generally yeah, makes games run quicker. this is where things that GPU needs to do calculations and whatnot are stored. stuff like textures and shaders and whatnot are stored here. having more vram won't usually make your game faster (unless you don't have enough vram to run the game), but it does mean that you can use higher quality textures and whatnot.
