Yeah, the way FM does their drops is godwaful. I got one of the original S12 drops and a Tenz, which is the one I hotswap modded and still use. I've also managed to buy a couple S12 Phantoms for super cheap from CeX

Yeah, 4khz is the current meme in the community so if it's the absolute best performance you want then that's the route you have to go down. It doesn't help that the standard Viper shape is too big for most people now that smaller mice are the norm
I've tried 4khz and honestly I'm almost 100% sure it's pure placebo. I only have a 175hz monitor so maybe people on 360hz can tell but I really don't think it's a big deal
I'm just a sucker for metal mice and the viper mini shape works for me, so I'm keen to get one when I can

At 1k the chance of skipped frame is real. Where you don't have input because the frame happens before input.
The faster the FPS, the more chance you ahve to skip frames. Even at 2k input your cutting down the chances of a skipped frame.
Some games just work at 2k+. But not every game can handle 2k+. Windows 11 can help with that, because they optimized the OS to handle 2k+ input.

At 1000hz you're getting at least 4 frames of input per frame of video @ 240hz. I don't think it's an issue at all.
Also I don't think W11 handles high frequency inputs any better, You still need to enable raw input to avoid lag spikes, which as far as I understand reads the mouse data directly and bypasses windows' handling of it entirely

no input frames are 'dropped' because the game engine doesn't do work in discrete video frames. It's not like your client is running at 240tick like a server if you're at 240hz
Inputs are processed as they come in and frames are sent out as they're generated. They don't effect each other in that if an input frame comes in slightly after a video frame is put out, that input frame isn't dropped.
Increasing the polling rate just means that in the worst case, you'll get more up to date information

Like at worst, a 1000hz mouse will send an input that's 1ms 'behind' any given video frame (assuming consistent frametimes from the mouse, no other latency in the system etc etc. This is just to demonstrate the point). A 4000hz mouse will mean the 'oldest' input that would be displayed would be 0.25ms old.
I just don't think that's actually relevant in the real world

Been collecting finalmice since the start of magnesium, its a hard process to nail down. But realistically orders from a company of their scale could be in the 10's of thousands off the bat, if not higher.
I don't think the price is an issue, but you can tell from the meme number chosen that they wanted a limited run to speed test quality control

Molds are hella expensive and if they want to keep this signature edition in stock year round eventually like they've said they want to do it doesn't make sense to order more molds than they'll need to do that, and building up a stockpile of them would push back the release and make the se and the plastic versions compete for market share
