#Microphone is not working

Are you in a Discord call at the same time? On some computers Discord will take priority control of the mic, which can cause issues in some (not all) games. Some friends and I will deafen in Discord whenever we played some games with proximity chat, and I had that issue in a few games.

If you're not in a Discord call, try verifying your game files. It's possible Steam missed something when you downloaded the game, and verifying it will have it check to see if any files are missing or corrupt, and replace/repair them if so.

Something I've also had work in other games, which I'm sure you probably already tried but thought I'd mention it anyway, is restarting your computer. I tried playing Phas once after another game that had proximity chat -- can't remember what it was called, been a while -- and restarting was the fix to get it working for me.

If the above doesn't work, can you let me know which mic you're using, and if you're using an audio mixer/interface along with it? Such as a GoXLR

I also put a microphone from my wired headphones, which work absolutely everywhere but dont work in your game

#

I changed the microphone bind, changed the mode (voice activity or by pressing) but nothing gave even a hint that the microphone was working

When you were testing, were you in the lobby? There would be a little speaker icon appearing around your character to indicate if the mic was being detected.

Could you send your player and player-prev log files, please? Instructions on how to find them are here:

yes, of course, I was in the lobby and just this icon does not appear (I played this game 2 years ago and everything was fine with the same microphone, but today is a problem), now I will figure it out and send the logs

Thank you, based on the log I think I know what the problem is, but I'm double-checking and will also see if there's any sort of workaround first. Give me just a few minutes here

#

While I'm looking, could you double-check that the microphone you're currently using is set as the default in your Windows sound settings? You can check by right clicking the speaker icon in the bottom right of your toolbar, then click "Sound settings".

I will try now

#

"Устройство по умолчанию" this means it is installed by default

Could you try that headset mic of yours as well? Close the game first, and then in the area on the left side of your screenshot select the other mic that you were trying to use. Once it's selected in your sound settings, launch the game. It's important to relaunch the game when changing this setting because it reinitializes your sound settings, ideally/hopefully making it so your other mic is detected.

Let me know how that goes

this microphone is the one I have been playing on all the time

oh, try using wired headphones

Yes exactly

surprisingly, it worked

#

is it possible to fix the problem with "onboard mic"?

Great, glad that worked 🙂

Unfortunately I don't think the onboard mic can be fixed because of another issue I saw when looking at your log files. It looks like you're using an integrated graphics card rather than a dedicated one:

Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics

Unfortunately integrated cards aren't supported because they aren't able to handle the HD graphics pipeline we're using within Unity very well -- or at all in most cases. It's honestly extremely surprising you're able to run the game at all on this card, as most people with integrated cards either can't launch the game, can't get past the menu without seeing extreme graphics problems, or they can't make it past a certain point in Chapter 1 without other graphics problems coming up. It takes a lot of graphics processing power to run the game somewhat smoothly, and the way integrated cards feeds off its processor and vice-versa makes it hard to run games using the version of Unity that we use.

Since you're using an onboard mic as well, I believe the processor/integrated graphics card is using too many resources to also allow your onboard mic to operate in-game at the same time. You could try lowering your graphics options as low as they can go to see if that ends up freeing up enough resources to allow the onboard mic to work, but I cannot guarantee that with the minimum specs not being met.

All that said, I should mention that even though the game is working fine graphically for you right now, we can't guarantee it'll continue working later on, especially as we release more content in the coming months.

I found another problem, my microphone doesn't work in the game itself (after the beginning of the chapter)

#

the microphone icon does not appear (as in the lobby)

fixed

thanks you
