A lot of freebuild servers have been getting griefed by people flying out insane distances far away from where anyone else is or has built and making contraptions to cause the server to lag hidden away from other players.
While the distance you can travel from the spawn is neat and it’s cool that the engine can handle it, it is ripe for exploitation. I don’t think any server needs this much space, so an option to limit it to prevent problems seems sensible.
An option to place either a visible or invisible world border that players cannot go beyond or build beyond would fix this, a large dome or walls of collision that stretched to the skybox. I also think physics objects should collide with this for obvious reasons.
This could also be role tied, so you can make terrain that stretches far into the distance beyond the playable space for most players as an admin and not have the world suddenly cut off.
I also think there are gameplay possibilities with this too, you could set the world border to prompt a return in a certain amount of time if crossed and if not listened to the player would be killed, similar to battlefield games etc. All parameters of this should be customisable.
Would be nice to see.
