#Halo style recharging player shields

Currently all the precision weapons with the capacity to one hit headshot players are extremely strong in the available weapon sandbox for their ability to do this. It would be neat if the more close range/slower projectile weapons had a unique niche in their ability to shred player shields and would add some variety to long range combat. Obviously it’d be down to the creators of the individual gamemodes which gameplay they’d like, but this would add some neat tweaking opportunities.

An additional option that made these work more like classic arena shooter shields (quake etc) that are replenished by pickups only would also be cool also!

there was a discussion abt shields some time ago, and that there would be the three types of

  • halo/warframe-esque regenerating overshield
  • battle royale style fixed value shield
  • half-life esque damage sink shield
    all of these could probably be adjustable like the healthbar thru settings, but i imagine we'll only see something like that when the gamemode system gets [re]made

Halo has iirc this which is why i bring it up, its why guns being good at shredding shields and then finishing people off with precision headshots is a thing iirc

shield pickups like the health pickups would also be cool, plus wire integration whenever they can get around to that
