Remember not everyone has a PC. FM were always primarily mobile devs in the past, so there are bound to be fans that dont even have a PC.

Like me. I was surprised they released the game for free at first but with the heavy handed monetisation I could see why.
I would have preferred to just pay for a proper game in the first place though. If the badges would make the mods non RNG I'm buying it right away but currently I don't enjoy the game very much when I just grind out to gamble
