They're literally on the ground in shallow water of depths of a few cm, and they're buried in the sand making them completely invisible.
Both times it happened i wasn't scuba diving, I was walking
Or actually first time i was running and second time i jumped and happened to land right on top of one
Both times i was unlucky to step on it really hard so the sting is worse because i get more spikes in my foot, deeper, and higher chance of the spikes breaking and getting stuck on my foot for days
The way i would describe the pain is, at the moment of the sting, it feels like you've just been slashed on that part of the body so hard making a deep laceration, and when you go to look, you se nothing. Then it makes that area feel like your blood is literally boiling, it burns sooo fkin bad. Luckily the pain only lasts for a day. To me one of the most painful parts is when you have to immediately go to the first aid outhouse to get the spikes pulled out of your foot, they have to press on the area and it makes it hurt so much

Fortunately if you do kill them though, they don’t really suffer, so even though I’m personally uncomfortable killing them, i don’t think it makes someone awful when they decide to do it. (I just think it’s weird lol XD)

i love zoos so much
in the uk at least
zoos here do everything to make sure the animals have the best lives possible
and Chester Zoo is incredible, one of my favourite places on earth tbh
they do so much important conservation work and the story of how it was founded is incredible
it survived ww2 and so much hate from the town nearby
i'm very passionate about zoos lol 😭
i even did a speech about them once

my dream career that i'll probably never be able to do is to work with the animals at a zoo, like taking care of them, in shelters and shit
working with the big cats or wolves and shit is so fkin cool, becoming one of their own and taking care of them, developing bonds with the lions and shit
fucking amazing job
ofc very difficult and risky aswell because firstly i think that job requires vet qualifications and that is a very difficult field, and it's also difficult to develop that mutual trust with the animals but once that's accomplished it's simply amazing
and i know most animals at the zoos i know aren't in captivity simply for the sake of human entertainment, most of them are from shelters and stuff, have some sort of issue going on and they're better and safer in the installations of the zoo rather than in the wilds
so yeah zoos are pretty amazing
